"There's no way," Riven said, his voice a low growl. "It's a glitch. Equipment malfunction."
Lyra shook her head slowly, her fingers already working the tablet's controls. "This equipment doesn't glitch. I built it myself." She pulled up another image, enhancing the thermal signature. "Look at the energy pattern. It's nearly identical to your daughter's. Same frequency, same pulsation rate."
I moved closer to the screen, my breath catching in my throat. The pink glow on the thermal image pulsed with a rhythm that seemed almost alive—almost familiar. Like a heartbeat. Like Ivy's heartbeat.
"What do we do?" I whispered.
Riven was already moving toward the door. "We find out what it is. Before it finds us."
