Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

The Alderian continent featured a vast territory, home to Argariz, the land of the demons. The fall of the Argariz Empire was triggered when humans descended from a great mountain range, driven by greed and the desire to explore new territories. The demons initially drove the humans out of their lands, but the humans later returned with a massive army of thousands of wizards and warriors. They devastated the villages and towns near the mountains, killed as many men as possible, and kidnapped the women and children as spoils of war. This first invasion was repelled by Moraf I, the most powerful demon emperor in their kingdom's history. He commanded a demon army that was only half the size of the enemy forces camped at the foot of the mountain. It was a fierce battle that lasted three days and four nights; the emperor refused to let fatigue stop them, determined to eradicate or expel the invaders, and ultimately succeeded. However, two decades later, Emperor Moraf was poisoned. The throne was seized by Esmid III, the emperor's fourth brother, who executed almost all of his brother's sons. Moraf, the third son of Moraf I, managed to escape, sparking a civil war that lasted for more than three decades. This conflict finally ended with Moraf II's accession to the throne.

After defeating his uncle, he publicly executed him for having conspired with the enemy to seize power. However, the Argariz Empire had already lost a third of its territory to the humans, territory that Esmid the third had granted them in exchange for military support.

Moraf the second tried to recover the lands, but he realized his mistake, the humans outnumbered them, and he lost another portion of the territory; in the end he retreated and protected his borders for five decades, then he ceded his empire to Asgor the third, he trusted in the talent of his son, Asgor the third protected the borders for more than a century; It was with the son of Asgor the third, Densar the first, that the empire disappeared as such, because confident in the power they had acquired, he organized three attempts of conquests, causing great losses to the Argariz empire, in the end he was overthrown by the imperial ministers who renounced the name empire, creating the Argariz Republic.

"This is the historical perspective of demons; I imagine that humans must have shaped their own historical perspective, regarding the war between humans and demons," Mart thought as he closed the book he was reading in the library.

He then walked over to the student in charge of the library.

-Hello Emy, I wish to borrow these two books.

Emy took the books and registered them in a magic crystal and then said to her in her muffled voice:

-Student Mart Sevec, you requested the book entitled "Demonic Power Scales" and "Marrac Mountains (territory description)."

-Correct. -Mart said while receiving the books and then leaving the library.

-Hello, I went to look for you in the classroom and you weren't there. -Selis expressed with a shy tone.

-That's right, I didn't pay you the two silver coins for yesterday's lunch, I'm sorry. -Mart expressed, at the same time that he took out three silver coins from his magic bag and handed them to Selis.

Then Marc walked away quietly with his books at his side, Selis raised her hand wanting to say something to him, but she didn't dare.

In the cafeteria.

"It is a rather particular political system, the ministers run the republican council in the capital, but the great noble houses that survived the fall of the empire kept their territories and practically govern them with autonomy, and in return they deliver to the council 15% of the products, treasures, obtained throughout the year."

Mart was eating while thinking about some of the information he had read in the books, because he knew that his lack of knowledge about the environment in which he now found himself could take its toll on him, since he had only read the first chapter of the novel "The Rise of a Hero."

-Hi Mart, what are you doing eating here? -It was the question asked by Serp, a demon with green eyes and blue sclerae, beige skin, light green hair and an athletic body.

"Where else am I going to eat?", Marc replied in his mind.

-Tell me, what's going on? -Mart asked, feigning disinterest, as that was not at all uncommon behavior for a despicable and irresponsible person.

-I thought we were going to work together in the Marrac Mountains.

"Why do you make it sound like we were going to commit a crime? What kind of friends did Mart have?", as he could not find answers for himself, he only replied to Serp:

-I formed another group; it will be another time.

Mart got up, and walked away from the cafeteria, while Serp's gaze darkened at the sight of him to then mutter:

-Bastard, you think you can use us and then leave; no, not without adequate compensation.

----

"Apparently you made some troublesome friends," thought Mart who subtly watched Serp as he walked away.

"I must read these books tonight, then go to bed."

Mart entered his room, took a bath, put on a sweater and gray sleeping pants, sat on the chair in front of his desk, he was going to read the book "Marrac Mountains (description of the territory)", but suddenly he started to think.

"Year XX32, isn't it seven years before that so-called hero finishes us off? The rise of the hero? You mean it cost him, that human who after graduating from the Alexandrian Academy acquired transcendental power what is he doing right now?"

Mart stood up and began to walk in circles, there was a great concern, if the country of the demons fell he did not have a good future ahead, the time he spent in his modern world, and the history classes he received back then, allowed him to have an idea of how bad the survivors of the fallen countries, nations, kingdoms or empires had it.

"Moraf, Moraf; right, it is the name of the antagonist who faced with perseverance until his last breath to Arian Istariar, who managed to defeat him with the power of love and friendship What is Moraf doing right now? Does he have imperial blood?

The more he thought the more he forgot about the books on the desk.
