Chapter 20 - Episode 20 – It Doesn't Mean Anything

EPISODE 20

Alex looked at Ken as if he were the only star in the sky.

Ken noticed and chuckled.

"What?" he asked.

Alex simply kept looking at him, still smiling.

"It's awesome... just being here like this," Alex said without taking his eyes off him.

"You know what's even more awesome?" Ken smirked as he wrapped an arm around Alex's waist.

He pulled Alex closer.

"This is going to be incredible, you know."

Alex simply smiled.

Ken slowly closed the gap between them.

Their lips met for a brief moment.

"KEN! KEN! PLEASE LOOK AT ME!"

"I AM!"

"KEN! KEN! KEN! YOU FUCKING IDIOT!"

"EH?!"

"WAKE UP! WE'RE LATE!"

Ken jolted awake and saw Alex trying to wake him.

"Oh... it was a dream."

He slowly sat up on the bed.

"Nice. Keep dreaming, you idiot. I've been trying to wake you up for an hour. I'm leaving. Bye."

With that, Alex walked out of the room.

Even though Ken heard everything Alex had said, he was still trying to recover from the dream.

He moved the blanket aside, stood up, and froze.

His pants were wet.

He paused.

"Ah... it can't be."

He ran a hand through his hair.

"Seriously...? Oh... I need to calm down."

He immediately checked the bed and the blanket.

Thankfully, they were fine.

He quickly washed himself and left everything in the bathroom.

Shoot... Thank God he didn't notice. Why did I get excited over that? It's not even like that... My God... this is not going to be good.

He got ready and headed to college.

As soon as he entered the campus, he met Jennie.

"Man, you're lucky. You don't have class right now."

"It's not that I'm lucky. I'm unlucky. I was late today," Ken explained.

"Where's your other half?" Jennie asked.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Ahm... you know..."

Jennie looked at him helplessly.

"You know... you and him. Best buddies, right? So... your other half."

"Sorry, Jennie, but you're judging us too quickly."

Ken looked at her as he spoke.

"So that means you guys aren't best friends?"

Jennie whispered.

"I heard you."

Ken caught her immediately.

"Ahem... wait. I'm your senior. I deserve some respect."

Jennie instantly changed her tone.

"Tsk."

Ken simply walked away.

"I'm serious!"

Jennie shouted after him, but Ken didn't bother responding.

Ken went to the free hall and sat down.

At the same time, Noel was there.

Ken didn't notice him, but Noel noticed Ken.

So he walked over.

"You okay?"

Noel asked as he sat on the bench in front of Ken, facing him.

That's when Ken noticed him.

"You know... annoying senior."

Ken laughed it off.

"I thought this was a bullying-free campus," Noel muttered.

"Oh, no, no. You got the wrong idea."

Ken waved his hand.

"She's just a friendly, annoying senior. She's cool... but, you know... kind of annoying."

Noel laughed.

"Sorry. I thought you were actually having a bad day. Your face looked like it."

"I don't know. Today's just messy because I was late."

"No way."

Noel looked genuinely surprised.

"I know. Just one random day, and suddenly I'm late."

"What about Alex?" Noel asked.

Ken unconsciously glared at Noel.

Jennie's words...

The dream...

Everything came rushing back.

Noel paused.

"I mean... did you guys fight again?"

"No."

Ken answered while looking away.

"I mean... is it okay to talk to me?"

Noel asked again.

"No... it's just..."

Ken sighed.

"Today's messy. I don't think I'm ready for any kind of conversation."

"It's okay."

Noel smiled.

"I was just trying to be a good friend. I kind of owe you one anyway."

"Do you?"

Ken smiled.

"I had no idea."

"Now you do."

Just then, Ken's phone started ringing.

He took it out.

It was Alex.

"Why didn't you come to the lecture?"

Alex almost shouted from the other end.

"I was freaking late."

Ken stood up and nodded at Noel before leaving.

"Come to the lecture hall. The next session starts soon."

"Okay, cool."

Ken ended the call and immediately walked toward the lecture hall.

That was just a damn dream.

He took a deep breath and stepped inside.

"There you are again."

A familiar voice called out.

Ken looked over.

He frowned.

"That was supposed to be my line."

"Hey! You just walked away from me like that."

Jennie smirked.

"You owe me an apology."

Ken sighed.

"But I think you owe me one first."

"Oh..."

Jennie rolled her eyes.

"Fine. I'm sorry for judging too quickly, like you said."

"Okay. You're forgiven."

Ken smiled.

"And I'm sorry for walking away like that."

"We're good."

Jennie held out her fist.

Ken bumped it with his own.

"Now tell me what's going on."

She immediately switched back to her curious self.

"I will... after college."

Ken pleaded.

"My lecture starts any minute."

"I'll call you."

Jennie walked away without waiting for an answer.

"You're serious?"

Ken asked, confused.

Jennie simply waved one hand without looking back.

Ken quickly entered the classroom.

He saw Alex sitting there with an angry expression, not even noticing Ken's arrival.

Ken quietly sat beside him.

Alex immediately opened his mouth.

"You little—"

Damn...

I forgot how he looks in the middle of chaos.

Alex thought and his mind suddenly went blank.

Ken had been expecting an earful.

When Alex suddenly stopped talking, he looked confused.

He couldn't help but smile.

Even Alex's angry face looked adorable to him.
