The Convergence — Prelude

Before the Realms Became One

There was a time when mankind believed the world belonged solely to them.

Empires rose beneath open skies untouched by monsters, untouched by gods, untouched by the impossible. Among those empires stood one above all others—Rome. Vast, disciplined, and insatiable, Rome carved its authority across continents with steel, ambition, and the belief that nothing lay beyond the reach of man.

And for a time… that belief appeared true.

But history rarely warns mankind before it changes forever.

As Rome turned its gaze eastward toward the lands of Asia, something ancient stirred beyond the edges of understanding. Reports first arrived as scattered whispers from soldiers and merchants alike: entire patrols disappearing without trace, mountains split by storms with no clouds, and men driven mad by things they claimed to have seen beneath moonlit skies.

Rome dismissed it at first.

Superstition. Foreign hysteria. Excuses

born from unfamiliar lands.

Then the legions vanished.

Not defeated.

Not routed.

Gone.

Entire battalions disappeared crossing territories that maps themselves seemed unable to remember correctly. Survivors returned altered—speaking of burning skies, beasts larger than fortresses, and warriors who moved beyond the limits of the human body. Some claimed the world itself had begun to fracture. Others spoke of voices calling from beyond reality.

Then came the first recorded anomaly.

Without warning, entire regions across the eastern front experienced what historians would later name spatial distortion: rivers flowing backwards, nights lasting for days, and structures appearing where none had stood before. Witnesses described seeing foreign stars hanging above the earth and hearing languages no civilization had ever spoken.

Rome, for the first time in its history, encountered something it could not conquer.

What mankind did not know then… was that these incidents were merely the beginning.

The barrier separating realities had begun to weaken.

And beyond it waited: forgotten realms, ancient gods, monsters, magic, Qi, and civilizations that had long abandoned the fragile laws of Earth.

The event that followed would later be remembered by countless names across countless worlds.

But history remembers it best as:

The Convergence.
