Chapter 9 - VANTA VS NIUREN

I ran through the dark alleyway, watching everyone and every movement, until I reached a bar. Peering through a glass window, I saw an obese man sitting alone, shirtless. I could clearly see the claw tattoo on his back. Wait—I remembered him. Niúrén. He was part of the squad that killed my parents and was also responsible for making me Vanta.

I carefully watched him in silence for hours as he drank bottle after bottle. I studied the environment, then made my first move—throwing ninja stars at all the electric bulbs and lights in the bar until it was completely dark. Everyone inside was shocked, but Niúrén remained unmoved, still drinking.

Suddenly, there was a loud scream. I had struck a man so hard that everyone ran out of the bar—everyone except Niúrén. It seemed as if he had sensed my presence. He stood up from his seat, picked up two butcher knives and a long chain lying nearby, attached the knives to the ends of the chains, gave them a quick spin with his eyes closed, then flung them toward my direction.

I dodged to the side immediately, throwing two ninja stars and aiming for his abdominal region, but they just bounced off his belly. He pulled back his knives, but I was impatient. Running toward him with my swords, I watched as Niúrén began to spin with his knives in random directions—both up and down. Thinking I couldn't reach him, I took a jump toward him, bending in the air and dodging all of his blades. I pointed my sword at his chest, striking him hard, but it still didn't penetrate. I did a backflip and landed in front of him.

Finally, he asked, "Who are you?"

I replied, "I just want your head."

"You are either really brave or really stupid—but I think really stupid! Ahhhhhhh!" Niúrén shouted, charging toward me with his eyes closed.

I jumped, running on the wall of the bar and leaping from side to side toward him. I aimed for his neck with my sword, striking it hard, but it just bounced off. Refusing to give up, I grabbed a large bottle and smashed it on Niúrén's head, but it did nothing except anger him.

Using his head, he smashed through the walls of the bar, chasing after me. But my speed and reflexes were far above his, so I made him use his head to destroy the pillars and parts of the walls. He threw his knives toward me. I flipped in the air, and one knife struck hard into a surface—I guessed it was stuck. He threw the other knife, but I caught it mid-air, slid between his legs, and tied him up with the chain. Then I hammered the knife hard against the last standing wooden pillar, which was holding the roof of the bar together.

Niúrén used his strength to pull out the knives, but unfortunately for him, he broke the pillar. The whole building came crashing down onto him. I immediately jumped out of the bar. Oh—I didn't even notice it was a two-story building.

I knew this wouldn't kill him, but I was sure it weakened him. Due to the amount of alcohol in the building, the whole place was engulfed in flames. I actually hadn't planned that, but it worked. I didn't notice anyone around the vicinity—I think they all ran away, scared of Niúrén. I could see Wei Flew Pass and pierced on a nearby pole as I watched the whole place burn.

I didn't expect to see the angry obese man jump out of the flames, running toward my direction and charging at me so fast with his knives. I tried to move out of the way, but I slipped and fell to the ground.

"I see you now!" Niúrén shouted.
