My phone rang.
I pulled it from my pocket and looked at the screen.
Nala.
"Hey, CEO," I answered. "How's work?"
"Ugh... tiring," she replied with a sigh. "I still can't sit down because of you."
"Yeah... sorry."
"We both know you're not."
"My lips are sealed."
She laughed. "I didn't call to reminisce about last night, you dork. I actually wanted to ask you something."
"What's up?"
"So, there's this new guy." Nala's tone became more professional. "A couple of employees recommended him to me. Since you know I still have an opening for a secretary..."
Shit. So Anotta had already made her move. She was trying to plant one of her own people inside the company so she'd have someone feeding her information about the project.
I couldn't let that happen. If things went south, what then? What if Anotta decided the project had become too risky and pulled out entirely? Worse, what if my involvement somehow came to light?
"No."
"Huh?" Nala sounded confused.
"I'll do it."
