Chapter 335: Naruto and Obito vs. Dark Shunhi
"Boruto, you're here." Opening the door and seeing Boruto standing there, Kurenai quickly invited him inside, setting out some fruit and snacks on the coffee table. "Mirai already told me everything. Thank you so much, Boruto."
"No need for all the fuss, Aunt Kurenai. I just happened to be there. Besides, Mirai-nee has always looked after me," Boruto replied, then turned to another guest who had come to see Kurenai. "Uncle Shikamaru, you're here too."
"Yeah, I came to check in on Kurenai-sensei," Shikamaru nodded. "By the way, Boruto, is there something you came to ask?"
"I wanted to ask about the past. Uncle Shikamaru, Aunt Kurenai, back during the war periods, it was common for people in the villages to die, right? I want to know… were there ever cases where a father sacrificed his own child?"
Boruto looked at the two adults with a serious expression. A heavy atmosphere settled over the room.
"It's not like that, Boruto. You've misunderstood Naruto. Sacrificing Himawari… no one hurts more than he does. No parent could ever not love their own child…" Kurenai said hurriedly, trying to explain.
"Kurenai-sensei is right, Boruto. You have to try and understand Naruto. He lost his own parents right after he was born. Becoming Hokage has always been his dream…" Shikamaru added.
"Misunderstanding?!" Boruto's tone grew agitated. "He chose criminals over Himawari! How is that a misunderstanding? He only cared about keeping his position as Hokage! He's never lived up to his responsibilities as a father. The only thing that matters to him is being Hokage! If he wants that position so badly, then I'll be the one to take it from him… Aunt Kurenai, Uncle Shikamaru, I want to run for Hokage!"
"You want to run for Hokage?"
Kurenai looked at Boruto in shock, wearing the same stunned expression Hanabi had earlier.
"Boruto, that's impossible. You're still too young," Shikamaru said. "And becoming Hokage isn't easy—you have to earn the support of the entire village."
"No matter what, I'll stop my father from continuing as Hokage!"
Just as Boruto declared this, an explosion rang out from outside.
Konohagakure.
Dark Shunhi, wearing a mask, rampaged through the village. Laser blasts fired from his hands, destroying buildings left and right.
"Stop!" Naruto shouted, confronting Dark Shunhi. "What is your goal?!"
"The current shinobi world is just like it was during the era of the First Hokage," Shunhi replied, looking at Naruto. "Isn't that right? Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha joined forces to suppress the entire shinobi world and brought peace. But once they died, war broke out again. The same thing will happen once you and Sasuke are gone. My goal is to unify the shinobi world."
Facing Naruto, Dark Shunhi entered Super Saiyan Mode. Naruto responded by entering Sage Fox Mode.
A powerful clash of chakra surged between them.
"What you're doing will only lead to war!"
"Better short-term pain than endless suffering. It's simple: if you erase the borders between nations and villages, people will no longer fight. I want to build a shinobi world without classes, exploitation, or oppression—where everyone can live in happiness! But enough talk. You wouldn't understand anyway."
"Rasengan!"
Naruto charged at Dark Shunhi, spinning a Rasengan in his hand.
"Rapid Ki Blasts!"
Dark Shunhi hurled energy blasts from both hands toward Naruto, but each one was blocked by the Tailed Beast Cloak surrounding him.
Shunhi retreated at high speed, and Naruto used the Body Flicker Technique to keep up, the two of them streaking through Konoha like blurs. Every spot they passed left destruction in their wake—cracked ground and shattered buildings.
"You won't escape! Rasengan Barrage!"
Several Rasengan appeared around Naruto, launching a full-surround attack on Dark Shunhi.
The Rasengan made contact and exploded, filling the area with smoke.
"Was it really that easy…?"
Naruto stared cautiously into the smoke and muttered.
"Naruto, be careful," Kurama warned from inside.
"Yeah…"
Just as Naruto responded, a gust of wind erupted from where the Rasengan had landed, blowing away the smoke and revealing Dark Shunhi—completely unharmed beneath his mask.
"What?!" Naruto's eyes widened in disbelief. "He took a full hit from the Rasengan without a scratch?!"
"Spirit Slash: Six-Blade Form!"
Dark Shunhi hurled a Spirit Slash at Naruto. As he dodged upward into the air, the attack split into six and pursued him.
Kurama's claw reached out from behind Naruto to block them, but the Spirit Slash cut right through it.
"Naruto, this technique is infused with Wind-style chakra. You can't block it head-on," Kurama analyzed.
"I know…" Naruto muttered as he used the Body Flicker to evade. "But even so, his attacks are relentless…"
Just then, a shield appeared, intercepting the six-pronged Spirit Slash.
"Captain!"
It was Uchiha Obito, captain of the Hydra Squad.
"Another one shows up…" Dark Shunhi looked at Obito. "But more of you won't make any difference!"
"One of me is enough. No matter what kind of attack you throw, my shield will block it!" Obito declared confidently.
"Is that so?"
In the blink of an eye, Dark Shunhi vanished and reappeared next to Obito, landing a side kick that sent him flying through a building.
"Captain!"
Naruto turned and shouted toward the direction Obito had been blasted.
"If I'm fast enough, even your shield won't work."
"Oww… that hurt…" Obito groaned as he crawled out of the rubble. Luckily, the serum-enhanced body had kept him intact. "Don't get cocky! I was just distracted for a second!"
"Hey, did you forget about me?!"
Naruto reappeared behind Dark Shunhi with another Rasengan in hand.
"Of course not."
"What?!"
An enormous wave of chakra erupted from Dark Shunhi, blowing Naruto away. Obito raised his shield to brace himself.
"Kamehameha!"
Shunhi soared into the sky, forming a flower-bud shape with his hands overhead. A ball of blue chakra gathered in his palms. Several blue beams of Kamehameha erupted from the core and rained down over different areas of Konoha.
