Chapter 244 - Chapter 244 Intelligence Gained

"The proof is fine, please keep it."

"Thank you."

Ren took the identification and put it away, nodding with a smile.

"Mui, you say these Jonin are really hardworking, they still have to go out on missions at this hour."

Watching Ren's figure disappear into the jungle, the Ninja who registered Ren sighed to his companion.

"Yes, that's Hoshimi Ren, isn't it? He was promoted to Jonin and led teams on missions at such a young age. You can't help but admire him."

The distant Ren naturally couldn't hear their conversation. At this moment, he had already arrived at a small town. The wide streets were sparsely populated, and everyone was in a hurry. Most of the shops on both sides were closed for business. At a glance, the entire town was as desolate as could be.

Ren, however, did not linger here. He skillfully walked into a small alley, and after a few breaths, stopped in front of a wall, reaching out to lightly tap a protrusion on it a few times.

"Thud!"

A muffled sound echoed, and the wall in front of him fell backward, revealing a relatively narrow passage. When Ren entered, the wall behind him slowly rose again, returning to its original state.

The lights on both sides were a bit dim, but Ren didn't mind. After quickly walking out of the passage, his vision suddenly cleared, and a spacious hall appeared before his eyes.

"Long time no see, Mr. Ren."

Noticing someone had arrived, a tall, thin man walked out from behind the counter and greeted the approaching Ren with a raised hand.

Ever since Ren came to the Cloud Village Battlefield, he naturally found the exchange office here, and after some time, the two of them became quite familiar.

"Hmm, I've been quite busy these past two days, so I haven't been here for a while."

Ren nodded slightly, took out five or six storage scrolls from his Arms and placed them on the table. Seeing this, the man's eyes flickered, and his gaze turned to Ren.

"It seems the amount Mr. Ren wants to exchange this time is a large sum."

"Yes."

While Ren was speaking, he had already formed the hand seals and placed them in the middle of the scroll, letting out a low shout.

"Release!"

As white smoke erupted and then dissipated, two Stone Ninja corpses appeared. The man picked up a booklet from the side and began to flip through it. Ren, however, did not stop. He picked up another scroll and repeated the previous steps.

Within a few breaths, a dozen or so corpses of Stone Ninja and Kumogakure Ninja appeared on the counter, all of them Jonin.

"Then I'll trouble you with the rest."

Ren put away the empty scrolls and nodded.

"You're too kind, Mr. Ren, but it might take some time."

"Alright."

Ren sat to the side, quietly watching the other party identify them one by one. It wasn't until a quarter of an hour later that all of them were identified.

"I've calculated it, Mr. Ren."

The man placed two boxes in front of Ren and opened them, saying in a deep voice.

"There are twelve bounty targets, and the total amount is ninety-three million Ryo. Please keep it."

"Oh, is it finally done?"

Ren looked at the two boxes full of banknotes, and his mood instantly brightened. He picked up a bundle and brought it closer; a scent of money rushed to his head, instantly making him feel refreshed.

"Hmm, one hundred thousand, two hundred thousand, five hundred thousand…"

Watching Ren take out the money and count it bundle by bundle, the man didn't mind, just stood there quietly watching.

After another long wait, Ren satisfyingly closed the boxes and smiled.

"Very good, the amount of money is correct, thank you."

"You're too kind, Mr. Ren. I hope you'll continue to patronize our business in the future."

The man bowed slightly and said softly.

"Probably not for now."

Ren picked up the boxes and turned to walk out.

"I might be going to the Land of Rain next, so it might be a long time before I come back."

"Is that so? Then I wish you success in your endeavors, and I look forward to our next meeting."

The man didn't mind. He maintained a smile as he saw Ren out, then turned back and returned to the counter to deal with the corpses.

As for Ren, he walked out of the alley with two boxes of money. The sky had already darkened, and although it was not far from curfew, there should still be enough time.

"Hmm, it seems time is very tight."

Ren disappeared from his original spot with an Instantaneous Body Technique and appeared on the roof of a house. After identifying the direction, he leaped towards it, and soon he was out of the town.

"Hmm, it looks like I arrived quite early."

In a clearing in a desolate forest, Ren leaned against a tree trunk, a blade of grass in his mouth, looking around somewhat bored.

"Hmm?"

Just then, Ren's eyes flickered, and he looked up ahead. In his perception, a Chakra signature appeared in front, rushing towards him at an extremely fast speed. Ren unhurriedly took out a mask from his Arms and put it on his face.

As soon as he put it on, a sound of rushing air came from ahead, and a man dressed in all black with an ordinary appearance appeared in the clearing, bowing slightly towards Ren.

"I apologize for the wait. I was delayed by some matters, so I'm late. Please forgive me."

Ren leaped down from the tree trunk and, after approaching, nodded.

"It's fine, but my time is quite limited. Let's speed things up."

"Alright, this is the intelligence you need."

The other party didn't waste time either. He took out an envelope from his person and handed it to Ren, explaining.

"All the target's recent information and movement routes are in here. You can check it first."

"Hmm."

Ren didn't refuse. He opened the envelope, which contained several pages of paper. Ren casually pulled out a page and scanned it twice, immediately discerning the authenticity of the intelligence. He then put the papers back into the envelope, tucked it away, and nodded to the other party.

"No problem. I trust you wouldn't do something that would ruin your own reputation."

While speaking, Ren opened a box, counted out five million from behind, and handed it to the other party, smiling.

"This is the final payment, please accept it."

"Straightforward."

Seeing the money, the man's eyes immediately lit up. After taking the money and weighing it in his hand, he knew the amount. He took out a box identical to Ren's, put the money in, and then stood up, bowing slightly.

"Then I won't bother you further. I hope we can cooperate again next time."

For Ren, such a straightforward employer was his favorite to deal with.

Unlike some employers, who agree very readily at first, but then suddenly go back on their word when it's time to pay the final installment halfway through or at the end of the mission, suddenly halving the commission or something similar.

Of course, as a civilized person, he would never argue with an employer. He would only kill the other party and confiscate all their property to prove that the money of the Ninja World's number one intelligence Ninja was not so easy to owe.

"We will."

Watching the other party disappear from his sensory range, Ren also didn't waste time. After sealing the two huge boxes of money into his storage space, he headed in the direction of the Konoha Camp.

The Konoha Ninja responsible for registration and management at the entrance would search, and it wouldn't be a good thing if they saw his large sum of money.
