Chapter 9 - Chasing a Ghost

Three Months Later...

The immigration officer glanced at the passport before stamping it without hesitation.

James Jain.

Male.

Nationality: ----.

Relationship: Nephew of Lucien Jain.

Every word was a lie.

Every word was legal.

Suzy stared at the document in silence.

Her father had kept his end of the bargain.

The officer handed back the passport with a warm smile.

"Welcome to G Country."

Then she hesitated.

"Are you perhaps single?"

"Yes. See you later."

"Eh?"

Without another word, Suzy quickly escaped the awkward situation.

Although she was disguised as a man, her height, sharp features, and confident posture made her no less attractive than a male model.

One thing she excelled at besides martial arts was makeup and disguise. Her mother had secretly taught her over the years whenever Mr. Jain was away on business trips.

In her mother's eyes, any skill that could help her daughter protect herself was worth learning.

Outside the terminal, a man stood waiting with a sign.

JAMES JAIN.

"Nice to meet you. I'm James."

Suzy extended her hand.

The man shook it politely.

"I'm Danielle."

He opened the car door for her.

During the drive, Suzy could not contain her curiosity.

"I thought Danielle was a woman's name."

"I get that a lot."

Danielle laughed.

"My father was drunk when he registered my name."

He said it jokingly, but Suzy caught a brief flicker of disappointment in his eyes.

"It suits you."

"Pardon?"

"You are as pretty as your name."

Danielle blinked.

"That's very kind of you, Mr. James. I'd probably blush if that came from a beautiful woman."

"Really?"

Suzy chuckled.

Technically, it did.

Still, she wanted to build a good relationship with him. Danielle was the right-hand man of the person she had come here to learn from.

Or more accurately...

Work under.

"We've arrived, Mr. James."

Danielle stepped out and opened the door.

Suzy looked up.

And up.

And up.

A massive skyscraper pierced the clouds above her.

She let out a low whistle.

"Let's see how good of a business god you really are."

Her lips curved into a smirk.

"Mr. Reyes."

In the business world, everyone knew the name Reyes.

Yet almost nobody had seen his face.

No interviews.

No public appearances.

No photographs.

Some admired him.

Some feared him.

Others hated him.

But nobody could ignore him.

He was a ghost who ruled the business world from the shadows.

A man with no history.

No records.

Almost as if he had appeared from nowhere.
