One minute I am eating pancakes and doom scrolling through social media. The next my brother heard screaming. I followed him to the window to take a look. I managed to see people jumping on top of people. There were poor helpless ones screaming for rescue. People doing everything possible to be as far away as possible. People with bat like faces, pointy ears and blood red eyes just started attacking. They bit people and the bitten ones stopped moving. I had thought vampires were a myth. I decided that I am not going to stick around to be dinner. I took my go bag and ran out as quickly as possible. My brother was nowhere to be seen. So I was all alone. I managed to find the old dumbwaiter that takes stuff from each floor to the laundry room. I got in and pressed the button to take me to the laundry room. I was careful as I walked out of the room. The door to the garage was locked so I had to pick it. After a few stressful minutes I managed it. The door opened with a bang. The vibrations got louder as people screamed in terror.
I got outside and quietly snuck into the nearest truck. Quickly I covered myself with the tarp. I held my breath and tried to stay calm. Someone hopped in and took off for safety. I snuck a peek to see a sea of red eyes overpowering people. One of them cheered as she saw us run. One of them called out, "Run Rabbit Run. You can run but you can't hide" I hid as the guy drove towards somewhere unknown. The national guard came out in teams of eight and started to shoot them. A few died and the vampires tried to retaliate. They jumped up to avoid it. The military used flame throwers and burned them. The vampires had to retreat. They swore revenge as they disappeared. The truck stopped. People stopped running and celebrated. The army declared martial law. I can read lips so I know the man said that we should go back to our houses. We will be conscripted accordingly. Some of the residents chose to drive away. The military was busy talking about the new rules and regulations to notice. Once the truck was away we heard yelling. The truck drove faster as did the rest of them. The city grew smaller and the surrounding got darker.
