The person waiting outside the Grand Hotel, quietly reporting everything she saw, was Molly from the Conservatory of Music.
Earlier, Emma had talked at length in the High-End Women's Aesthetics & Social Academy group about her past with Jason. At the time, most of the group members didn't believe her at all. It was only after Molly personally checked the University Town forum and confirmed Jason's recent movements that the situation finally became clear.
This time, when she saw posts about Jason returning to campus, Molly reacted immediately and began investigating on her own initiative. The group owner, Sweetie, didn't believe the rumors either. In her view, someone with Jason's level of assets simply couldn't go bankrupt so easily. Unfortunately, Sweetie wasn't here herself, so she entrusted the task to Molly instead.
Molly was more than happy to accept. Gaining Sweetie's favor meant access to far more resources. She knew her own limits. She wasn't exceptionally beautiful—someone like Jason was far beyond what she could even dream of. But when it came to mid-tier resources? She was more than qualified.
When Sweetie received the photos Molly sent, her excitement was obvious. "Great, great. I knew I wasn't wrong. Jason is definitely still a top-tier resource."
She paused, then added, "Since Emma is hopeless—and that rich man didn't even want her, choosing some small-time tycoon instead—let her be. Jason deserves someone with better judgment."
Molly quickly seized the opportunity. "Sister, I wouldn't dare dream of someone like Jason. But could you arrange a suitable resource for me?"
Sweetie didn't hesitate. "Don't worry. We've prepared several good options for you to choose from. We'll also cover for you on our end. In return, you help us keep an eye on things in there."
Molly's heart leapt. "Okay, sister. I promise I'll do my best. If any of the sisters want to come here, just let me know."
Sweetie forwarded the conversation into the management group, and discussion erupted instantly.
"Just as expected—no such thing as bankruptcy. I knew it. How could someone with assets like that possibly collapse?"
"That Emma is really foolish. No ability to tell truth from lies. No wonder she lost a man like that."
"She's hopeless. Forget her. But we should still thank her—she brought us a top-tier resource."
"Jason is way too outstanding. If I weren't already too old—and if he weren't completely uninterested—I'd want to take matters into my own hands."
Their enthusiasm wasn't without reason. If they successfully matched a wealthy man, they wouldn't just earn course fees—they'd also receive commissions. And the richer the target, the higher the commission. This kind of business often went years without results—but once it paid off, it could support them comfortably for years.
Originally, they had pinned all their hopes on Emma. Now, that path was clearly closed. But fortunately, they had Jason. And in their eyes, that single name was worth far more than any loss.
This kind of top-tier resource was something every senior member in the group coveted. Whoever managed to secure it would be considered a complete success.
The management group immediately began discussing suitable candidates. They didn't even consider the junior-tier members—the group that Emma and Molly belonged to. Either their looks weren't outstanding enough, or their social skills weren't refined to the required level. What they were considering were high-tier members—women who were both beautiful and skilled.
Even so, they didn't dare announce Jason's information directly in the group. If all the top-tier members competed at once, things could spiral out of control. Elite resources needed to be matched precisely.
Very soon, they reached a consensus. Sweetie opened Wanda's chat window and sent a message. "Wanda, are you interested in an extremely high-quality resource? He's a student, in the city next to yours."
Wanda replied almost immediately. "That's very close. But if he's a student, is he just a rich kid?"
Sweetie smiled. "Calling him a rich kid would be insulting. He's more like the core heir of a powerful family."
Wanda frowned slightly. "A family heir? How wealthy is his family?"
Sweetie paused, then answered honestly. "We don't know his family background. We don't even know which family he belongs to."
Wanda was already feeling a bit disappointed—until Sweetie sent another line. "But his personal assets may exceed ten billion."
Wanda froze. "…How much?"
Sweetie followed up calmly. "I'll send you what we have. His assets are terrifying. There were rumors recently about business trouble, but even if that were true, a giant doesn't collapse overnight. A damaged battleship still has its guns. We can't confirm his exact net worth right now—you'll have to see for yourself."
Wanda opened the information Sweetie sent. The data was somewhat outdated, listing only Jason's assets that had previously been uncovered. Even so, Wanda's breathing grew noticeably faster. This wasn't just wealth. This was power.
Sweetie also forwarded the so-called bankruptcy news. Wanda glanced at it once and scoffed. "How could someone at this level suddenly go bankrupt? Even if there were problems, the foundation wouldn't shake. A weakened giant is still a giant."
Her heart began to pound. Just then, Sweetie sent another message. "Oh right, I forgot—here's his photo."
A soft ding. The photo loaded. Wanda's pupils widened instantly. She could tolerate exaggerated wealth. Even if the man weighed three hundred pounds, she could accept it. But he was handsome. Strikingly so.
Her heartbeat accelerated again, her breath growing uneven, a faint blush spreading across her face.
Sweetie added, "There's only one issue. He already has several women around him—but he treats them extremely well. Each has at least a penthouse. If things progress further, each has a private villa. Luxury cars are standard. If you want a place, you need to move fast. Are you free tomorrow or the day after? Otherwise, go tomorrow."
Wanda didn't hesitate. "No. I'm going now."
Sweetie was stunned. "It's already late. Even if it's close, it's still another city."
Wanda replied quickly. "It's only seven. Plenty of time. Our cities are adjacent—forty or fifty kilometers at most. Just over an hour by car."
Sweetie laughed softly. "I've always admired your decisiveness. Hurry over. Jason is at the Grand Hotel. If you're fast enough, you might still make it to his company's annual meeting."
Wanda—already dressed and prepared—quickly fixed her makeup, called a private car, and headed straight for Riverport.
At the same time, Jason—still attending the annual meeting—heard a familiar notification. He frowned slightly. "…Who now?"
The answer, it seemed, was already on its way.
