After reaching his Land of Grass's base with a baby, he realised that he can't just feed normal food to a baby.
But he didn't really want to take care of a baby.
So, he handed Amaterasu to one of his goon. A 13-14 year old kid who he picked up from Kusa during Third Ninja War to take care of this base. He knew decent medical ninjutsu and had betrayed Kusa during the war.
"If anything happens to this kid, be prepared to be on the experiment table."
"Y-yes!"
And then he headed out to get milk.
He can't just feed his future vessel low quality milk and compromise on his immune system.
Tsunade had developed a baby milk formula after Second Ninja War ended for kids whose mothers' died in the war. Cow milk isn't good for newborn babies because they don't get the immunity they get from a mother's milk.
So Tsunade's milk formula solved the issue.
But that wouldn't be available in this backwater country.
So he decided to head to Kusa to find a woman who can breastfeed him.
A ninja gains immunity to poisons overtime in the academy with the small 'tasty medicine' they are given over the years. While Kusa ninjas wouldn't have the same level as a Konoha ninja in immunity, it's better than a civilian.
He easily sneaked into the backwater village, and something interesting caught his eye.
A red haired woman with a baby with red hair was being forcibly dragged into the hospital.
Red hair doesn't automatically mean Uzumaki. Even Fourth Kazekage has dull red hair. And his child has good red hair.
But with the quality of chakra he could feel frok her, he was quite surprised. The woman didn't even seem to have any ninja training with how easily she is being dragged.
And then, she turned around and looked at him with pleading eyes.
"Please help!"
Now Orochimaru was sure. That woman is an Uzumaki. For an untrained woman to be able to tell that an ordinary looking man is stronger than the ones who are dragging her away hinted at her extraordinary sensory abilities.
He smirked. What a jackpot.
Amaterasu sure brought him great luck.
He swiftly knocked out the people dragging her, not spilling blood because it will be a pain to get tracked. Moreover, it will be unusual for Orochimaru of all people to not kill people getting in his way.
Moreover, he used slight lightning release that was unique to Kumk to knock them out, so the suspicions can be drawn to Kumo, which tried to kidnap Kushina in the past.
"Thank you—"
He delivered a swift blow at the back of her neck, not too hard to knock her out. He also knocked out her baby. And then, he brought her and her child to his base.
The Uzumaki baby looked to be around six months old or something, so the woman should be able to do the job.
"Wake up."
He splashed some water at her face, and she woke up.
Seeing his face, she screamed.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"
Orochimaru didn't care about her reaction. Such uncivilized people don't understand how good he looks.
"I saved you. So you will work for me from now on. Don't question anything. Just obey my orders and you and your daughter will be safe."
She crossed her arms around her chest, thinking about all sorts if weird things, but Orochimaru had no interest in that.
"Your job is to take care of this child. Feed him."
He handed her Amaterasu, and watched her sighing in relief.
He will experiment on her, of course. But after he no longer needs her for taking care of Amaterasu.
Karin's mother was obviously scared by her new environment. She was in front of a really scary man. But it seems that he will not harm Karin, for now.
She didn't expect the man who rescued her got a child to care for.
But he is clearly very dangerous.
So she obeyed him and started feeding Amaterasu.
Orochimaru was satisfied by getting a caretaker, and an Uzumaki at that.
But right now, he needs to prepare for moving again. Some country which doesn't have Konoha's influence, unlike here.
Jiraiya might find him sooner or later. So he needs a proper base.
Danzo was so hell bent on killing this kid that he didn't get time to prepare for his defection.
