"The coast is clear. You two go ahead. I will check up on the others."
"Alright. Stay on guard."
Now that things have been taken care of, it's time to check up on her.
The silence was creeping in. Besides the endless flames, there was no noise.
Rather suspiciously odd.
My jaw tightened, and I kicked some debris out of the way before scouting the area.
No entity-
"Look, Adele! Human! Human!"
Suddenly, a humongous creature came running excitedly towards me, accompanied by a half-serpent creature.
"Ssssss, so you have been hiding here."
I glared them down, not unveiling even a hint of fear. They were demons. It wasn't surprising that some had survived.
Aniel's plan was outstanding, but it wasn't perfect. I would never blame her, but I could hide her mistakes.
[The Last Breath of the Sphinx King]
My grip around the handle tightened as I maintained my fearless scowl. There was no way I would let them get in my way.
"You are mistaken," I uttered calmly. "I'm an elf."
The two demons looked at each other for a second before bursting into laughter.
"How humorous! Do you think that would make us spare you?"
"Adele, elf stupid."
"Tell them, big guy."
The orc seemed stupid, but he was smart enough to form a few sentences. Well then... that makes things easier.
"Why do you think there are no humans left here, demon?" I asked with a hostile smile.
"We do the questioning, elf," the serpent spoke. "You filthy creatures must have done something."
I smirked slightly and replied,
"Of course. But it was planned by someone even more capable and magnificent."
I took a moment and uttered joyfully.
"But I must confess...a rather large chunk of the orcs were killed by me."
The orc took a moment to process my words before shouting loudly,
"ELF KILLED MY ORCS!!"
"Slow down, big guy. You can have fun with him," the serpent hissed, her slim tongue dangling from her mouth.
"You can kill him within a few seconds. Come back after you're done."
"LEAVE TO ME, ADELE!!"
Adele slithered off, leaving the ugly thing with me.
My hostile smile grew larger and I played around with the claymore in my hand before stating proudly.
"Isn't this stage so beautiful made Orc King?"
The orc trembled with anger, it's pupils grew white and his feet clustered the ground.
'DANNNNGGG'
The ground vibrated with it's step, it didn't immense any aura nor mana. Just pure brute strength was his key.
What a disadvantage.
For him-
"You can certainly see the perfection made, I mean I hoped that I would get to perform alongside with the maker but such misfortune."
I kept rambling on and on as I walked on the gracefully crafted stage.
She made this stage for us to shine, not the demons and I can't disappoint.
"SHUT UP ELF!!"
With those gruesome words, the Orc King came charging with the giant axe ready to be swung.
I could feel a slight tingle in my body, it wasn't fear but rather excitement.
'WAACCCCKK'
[Unbroken faith of Sphinx]
The spell circled through the claymore as it shrieked through the endless night.
Emerald fumes of light and ashes covering the rearranging view. The emerald glow captivated the night and the stage.
The show had been started.
'DRUDDDDD'
The magic and aura infused inside my blood while my arms ached for another swing. I couldn't see the Orc Kimg amidst the emerald delight but I knew he was there.
After all the cries were louder than a whining child.
"EAHHHHH!"
The stage circled once more and the heavy claymore goughing in the floor, as the heavy mutated emerald mana swirled around and struck again.
Sparks of green and sage filled the vicinity, almost turning white from the impact.
"EAAHHHHHHHH!!"
The wail grew louder.
And once more-
My feet pushed against the stage as I flung myself in the sky, gripping harder onto Sphinx King and plunging with casting the spell again.
[Unbroken faith of Sphinx!!]
As my voice echoed through the stage, the ground shook with the impact and then-
I saw a giant arm flying off in the distance and I stood there for the green fog to disappear and unyielding the ugly sight once more.
I couldn't let it die easy.
I stared long enough for the fog to clear, and beneath the awakening night, woven with jade light and aura, he sat there.
Panting.
Huffing.
His face hidden behind his axe.
"What!?"
My eyes widened, and I stumbled back in confusion.
The arm I had just seen flying off-
Was right there.
Still attached.
Still unharmed.
Not to mention, there wasn't a single scratch on his body.
I cleared my throat before speaking again, this time with caution.
"Have you...regenerated?"
"Haha..."
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!"
He started chortling like a maniac, laughing for an entire minute before clutching his giant belly in an attempt to calm himself.
Slowly, he rose to his feet.
He brushed away a tear brought on by laughter, then spread his arms and flexed his muscles.
"MY TURN, ELF."
At that instance, my stage dimmed beneath his presence.
