"Yoo. Yo Oni... Aye dumbass!" Says Rain, slamming his hands on my chest.
"What could you possibly want from me, Rain?"
"Well." He says, backing off and grabbing his phone, "I thought you would like to know that Master Sato is giving us a new type of gear today. While checking my emails from the school, I noticed that our last visit was more like a trial to see if we were all synchronized to operate in THE OASIS system. Now I don't know what this all entails, but it's safe to say that the full dive vr is about to feel amazing."
I look at him blankly, "When did you get a phqone. That's what's confusing to me, so what we were on a trial one let's just see if blood will be visible when I tear my way to the top." I then start getting ready for the day.
"Well, since I know my brother, I knew your blind ass would miss that shit. But it's all good. I got you a phone at my desk. I was just waiting it took you a full week to notice. Is Elara that distracting?" He says with an evil grin. As he grabs the phone out the desk and tosses it to him. "Let's work on getting her number next time you see her."
"All right, ok, ok! I'll do it, but what do you care anyway?" I say, knowing why just lost in my own head.
"Look, get the number or not, but one thing I do know is that you need something other than me to keep you grounded. So you are able to be that anchor others need. Let's just go to breakfast."
The cafeteria was packed, but it always is. You'd think after a week I'd understand that. Food wasn't too bad. Wish it was more on the carnovior side but a couple of pieces of ham? Shouldn't hurt. I met Elara at the breakfast table she was talking to a couple of other girls about how there was a new girl coming a little late.
When we sat down. Elara looks at me and smiles, "Oh hiii Oni, hi Rain, you boys ready for The Oasis program?"
We glance at each other and reply with a smile, "You bet!"
"So we heard a new girl is coming. What's that about?" I ask Rain then hits me in the side with his elbow hard enough to send a horse flying, and I just looked at him.
"Wow don't ask how I am or anything, but yeah there's a new girl her name is Cara, and she has a unique ability from what I've heard it's all very hush hush for the moment. But one thing I know for certain is that she's a battle junkie so maybe we could see a real fight finally. I will be escorting g her to our class so I gotta hurry see you there Oni." She grabs her plate and leaves.
" I elbowed you for the same reason she said," Wow to you. " Great job getting her number, pal. But on the other note now we know we got some hope to have fun with these classmates here." As he says that the bell for our class rang.
With that, we went this is thrilling, so why do I have a feeling of wariness. A class with around 100 students the stage that we had for our last lesson was larger now it had more equipment it look more advanced.
As the remaining seats filled in. I finally spot Elara she is walking with that new girl Cara. As they got closer, Rain and I were left speechless. She looked... just like our mother. It's as if she was related to us. But who is this girl and... "Hey, are you two just going to stare at her? How about making her feel welcomed?
"Uhhh Oni, is it me, or does she.." Oni cuts in, "looks like a spitting image. Yeah, she does. My name is Oni, Oni Revenant, and this is my brother Rain Taukachi.
"Class, take your seats now. We shall now begin. Today, you will be using the true combat system we have built and consistently updated. It is called the Oasis. Everything you all did on your first training day was to code your powers into the Oasis.
We heard a computer voice say, "Celestial combat simulation powered up. 20 students, please step forward."
Master Sato speaks up, "The voice you just heard was our intelligence agent named Selene. Designed to train and track your movements in the game. Remember, you will feel pain, and you will feel the very real sensation of dying. These will also be fights of 10. Let's begin. Oni, Rain, Elara, Huck, Valen, Mina, Lumi, Nyx, Kobo, and Vax. Please step forward. Cara, Sloane, Zane, Theron, Garek, Kaito, Theia, Sariel, Ruby, and Jenna, please step forward. As all of them gathered on the front stage Master Sato taps his foot once, and then the stage changes, bringing up 20 Oasis Full Dive Gear. As everyone is waiting, Rain looks at me and says, "Who is that chick? Why does she look like Mom, and what powers does she possess?" "Rain how am I supposed to know?"
After that, Cara comes over and says, "Heyyyy guys, are you excited to fight? I'm so pumped. I can't wait to see what you guys can do." She says with an unsettling smile.
Master Sato looks at Cara and says, "Cara! Please remain at your Oasis gear. Class, we will now start your 1st full dive experience. Most of you have decent control over your powers and that's what makes this so important you are able to train your powers in game because your powers are the battery notice how the light only turns on when you touch it. Everything done to you will be felt, and you might even get traumatized. But you have to do this until your powers are fully mature, then you can go on to the next lessons. Which will be dungeon fights with real prizes. That being said, students step into the Oasis!"
Selene's voice rings out, "All 20 students are accounted for. Oasis program acclimated. Launching sessions into Ridgewood Mountain. 3. 2. 1."
The screens shifted and showed the most gorgeous view ever, and it had very weird layout mountains with a black river splitting both sides. The students watching all leaned forward anxious for what they were about to see.
