Great General Bian was engaged in battle with a man known as the strongest in the North, Guan Shi. The duel between them caused the battlefield to grind to a standstill as soldiers turned to spectators. It was a battle of a magnitude that many of them would only be able to witness once in a lifetime.
Bian had just dropped both of his twin cleavers. Many in the crowd had thought that this was a sign that Great General Bian was giving up. However, in reality that couldn't be further from the truth.
Both of the cleavers suddenly flew towards Guan Shi, who had to move quickly to block them. As he was blocking, Bian grabbed Guan Shi's horse and it suddenly collapsed into the ground.
"What just happened?" Gaileo asked.
"You really don't know anything do you?" Cassander said. "You really can't tell what Bian's ability is?"
"His ability?" Gaileo said. Asking himself more than anybody else. "I can't really tell what it is exactly." He thought.
Great General Bian's special ability was Magnetism. It allows him to magnetize any object that he touches with his aura. He can change the polarity to either repel or attract based on which would make the battle go in his favor.
Guan Shi understood the ability as soon as the cleavers made contact with his club. He braced his arms and managed to repel the weapons, but that was only what it seemed like. Bian had actually reversed the polarity so the cleavers would return to his hands.
"Very impressive." Guan Shi said, unbothered. "Would you mind letting my horse go? He seems to be in pain." Bian did not respond, but the horse was released from his magnetism all the same.
"Thank you, still, you made a good point. If we want to fight seriously then we should dismount. Don't you agree?" Again Bian did not respond, but he dismounted and prepared to continue the fight on foot.
The fight proceeded and it was mostly even with both men having moments of taking the upper hand.
"Great General Bian is incredible. He's holding his own with a man that's supposed to have beaten even Great General Justice." Lieutenant Elara said as she observed the fight.
"There are three reasons that you've got the wrong idea." Gaileo said.
"Three reasons? What do you mean?" Elara asked.
"The first is that we still don't know if it's true that Guan Shi defeated Justice. The second is that even if he did, it would have to have been a while ago, Justice is definitely stronger now than he was then. Finally, it seems like this fight is even, there have even been moments where it seemed like Bian had the advantage. However, you're overlooking something very important." Gaileo continued.
"Hehe, looks like you've finally caught on." Great General Cassander said smugly.
"Something important? I don't get it." Elara said.
"Great General Bian has been fighting to the fullest extent of his power. However, Guan Shi hasn't even used his special ability yet." Gaileo replied.
"He hasn't used his special ability?" Are you sure?"
"Yes of course I'm sure! Stop repeating everything I say in the form of the question!"
"I wonder what kind of ability he has." Shion said.
"I don't know, but I've heard stories that he actually almost never uses his special ability." Genbu added.
"Hmph,what cocky prick." Cassander commented.
"You're quite strong." Guan Shi said to Bian.
"Save your pleasantries, I know that you have strength to spare. I am a warrior, to not fight me with your full strength is akin to mocking me." Bian responded.
"I see, am sorry I insulted you. I assure you that was not my intention." Guan Shi replied.
Guan Shi's aura suddenly skyrocketed and flared up around him like a raging flame.
"For the record, it's not as if I was holding back. Or at least I wasn't doing so because I underestimated you." Guan Shi added.
Bian wasn't sure what Guan Shi meant by that, but he wasn't interested in continuing their conversation any further. He was focused only on the single objective of defeating Guan Shi.
"You better grit your teeth, this strike is a serious one." Guan Shi said as he drew back his club.
His club crushed both of Bian's cleavers with the impact and sent him flying. Bian crashed into the trees behind him and left a smoking crater on the ground beneath him.
Gaileo had been extremely focused on the battle between two warriors of such power. Subconsciously he had stepped between them.
"What's he doing?" Elara asked, concerned about his safety.
Normally even someone ad strong as Gaileo would be like a fly getting between two lions by getting involved in a fight between fighters of their caliber. He should have been blown away like a leaf in a storm the instant he stepped between them, but that was not the case.
"You, aren't you the Wolf Prince? The Son of the North, Gaileo is your name is it not?" Guan Shi asked while giving a courteous bow.
This gesture snapped Gaileo back to reality. "You, how do you know me? Why are you bowing to me?" He asked.
"Why wouldn't I? You are a hero in the North. My apologies, I didn't know that you were on this battlefield. If I had known I would never have agreed to take my soldiers this far south." Guan Shi said.
"R-Right, just get up already." Gaileo said, he was a bit embarrassed to be bowed to by someone stronger than him.
"Until we meet again, Prince." Guan Shi said as he ordered his men to return to the North.
"Wait! You mountain apes! I paid you a fortune! I expect you to-" The king who had hired the Tang tribe tried to protest their departure, but his head was evaporated by Guan Shi's club.
"Why don't we call it even now." Guan Shi said as he left.
Just like that, the battle was over. Most on the battlefield didn't understand what just happened, but regardless of the situation that led to it, the result was still an Imperial victory.
