A tear rolled down his face.
And I froze.
Because I had never seen my father cry before.
Dad looked away, covering one hand on his mouth as tears finally slipped down his face.
My throat burned.
I stood there frozen as tears blurred my vision.
"Dad?" My voice came out broken.
He looked at me immediately.
Seeing that look on his face, seeing him look at me like he had failed, tore down every single wall I had ever built against him.
"I…" He swallowed hard. "Dominic…"
Dad closed his eyes briefly.
I turned away quickly, dragging a shaky hand over my face because suddenly I couldn't stop crying either.
What the hell was happening?
Suddenly, the illusion was gone.
He didn't look like the terrifying man who controlled everything anymore.
He just looked like my dying father.
"I didn't want you to know like this," he admitted quietly.
I laughed shakily through tears.
"Then how?" I snapped suddenly. "After forcing me into a wedding?! After ruining everything?!"
