Stepping outside Zena saw the world light up. The path in front of here was paved. The streets around seemed to be some sort of wooden and stone mixture.
Ever house was neat and clear. As if there was no dust in a single corner of the city.
"I see you have decided to follow me." Llyod spoke as he moved in front of Zena, looking toward the city, "I would like to introduce you to Watsi. The city of transportation.
As he spoke he walked.
"This place is where almost all the trains arrive and leave. It is also know as the city that never stops. Day or night the city runs and as you can see the city is quite busy right now." Lloyd gestured to hundreds Clock Works rushing around and the thousands of trains moving around above them.
"May I ask where all the trains go? When I was out of the city they all seemed to go to that wall of darkness." Zena asked.
"That wall of Darkness is the Underworld. It is south of the Clock. All the trains go there as that's where the Clock Worker wanted the goods to go due to his dealings with Nether."
"Nether? Who's that?"
"Nether was the last child of the Unknown. The youngest of the seven Daemons. He was the Ruler of the Underworld even though he was called the Prince of the underworld. He was also the father of the stone saints. Actually, we are the ones providing the materials for the creation of the stone saints."
"Wait I thought the Gods and Daemons were all dead? Why would you still be sending materials?" Zena interrupted Lloyds explanation.
"You are right all of them are dead. Before I say anymore I should let you know of the name we the Clock Works have given Nether.
We call Nether, the Daemon of Industrialization. He is know for his magnificent factories. Each one could supply a nation with whatever materials they would make. It actually ironic though. His official titles is Daemon of Choice and Daemon of Destiny, and yet he made so many things that had a single purpose. Well that is all except the stone saints. They were his Children. Something the Gods hated more than anything.
That fact is something that has confused me my entire life. Why were his creations hated while we the Clock Works weren't. The Clock Worker was inspired by Nether to make us so he made us. It was said the Nether was inspired by the Gods to create the stone saints. However, the Clock Worker was on good terms with everyone, while a war was started with the stone saints. That war actually caused Nether's stone saints to become some of the most feared beings in all of existence.
Even though what was left after the war was not much the way the stone saints are made was untouched. So the Clock Worker's deal with Nether still holds strong.
Anyway I think I have been talking too much, we have reached the Day Clock. Do you have a last question for me?"
"Only one concerning right now, what is the Day Clock?"
"It is the central hub of all the cities and regions. Watsi is actually the city that is connected to the Day Clock. Anyway, the Day Clock is the main reason for our survival. To my knowledge something happened in the final war. Something that scared the Clock Worker. Even though he did not participate directly in the war he still had a hand in it. Whatever it was caused him to make these Clocks. The Day clock is connected to the Night Clock. The Day Clock is a like a drain. One that drains corruption. The Night Clock on the other hand is the opposite. It would disperse the corruption in such a way that nothing could be affected by it. However, it has been thousands of years since it was made.
The Night Clock long broke due to something using it as a nest. Something strong enough to be able to interrupt the creation of a Sacred being. This made the surrounding of the Night Clock become a hunting ground.
This is due to the fact that both clocks have a shielding function to make it seem like there is no purity the regions. But since the Night Clock broke its shield also broke. It has caused many problems for us. We had to cut the connection with the Night Clock as the corruption that it used to spread safely had started to leak into the Day Clock. We have no idea what it is like around the Night Clock now so ever day that passes might mean our end as something might find us. Though unlikely it is not impossible.
That is not something you need to worry about though. You should entire the Day Clock now and meet your fellow humans."
With his explanation over he pointed to the entrance to the Day Clock.
Zena stared walking towards it then stopped, "Are you not going to come with me?"
"No unfortunately the Clock Worker had forbidden any Clock Work from entering the Clocks. It was his only rule and we have followed it forever."
"So why can I go in."
"Well you are human just like the Clock Worker. We treat you like any relative of Clock Worker because of that." As Lloyd finished his sentence he turned and started walking away.
Zena seeing Lloyd turn also turned. She now faced the magnificent Hall of the Day Clock. As she walked she entered one of the many doors. Entering she walked staring at the walls. The walls were made of metal. Burnt orange cogs were scattered around the walls. Each group of cogs made up a piece of art. Some could be recognized others couldn't. The floor was made of a marble with gold accents, very similar to the tracks for the trains were at some point.
She walked like this for a while before stopping at a double door.
Then she moved, pushing the golden door open.
