Looking under the table James checked the lie detector. Seeing the green light on it he leaned back in his chair.
"Well damn. I knew the two of you were special based on what you told me about your nightmare, but this. This is something only one person has gotten and they are also at the academy this year. Now there are three of y'all." James check the lie detector once more before dismissing the two.
After the two left James called someone, "Hey Bolder I think the future is looking bright."
Back with the twins, Zena spoke up, "You know I thought that would cause us to be there much longer than that. Like it was almost as if he didn't care."
"Actually, its the opposite. I'm shocked you didn't hear it. The moment we left he called someone. I think the information we told him was to much for a interview."
"My senses increase with my innate abilities activation. Without it, it is only a small increase to sight. Also, your probably right. He was probably reporting it to Awakened Bolder or Awakened Malisa."
"Anyway lets get some lunch our combat class is soon. And personally I don't want to starve while fighting."
Soon they ended up in the cafeteria. They sat alone again as Ki Song was not there.
After lunch the two headed to the training rooms. Entering, the room expanded. The normal rooms the two had seen would pale in comparison. There were plenty of training dummies, sparring rings, and weights to train with.
'Wait why do we need weight. Our bodies and souls are separate when we go to the Dream Realm.' Anderson stared at the weights with an odd look.
"Oh I see your quite well informed about the separation of souls and our physical bodies. But the differences between our bodies are quite misunderstood by the public."
Looking back to the young man that answer, Anderson inquired, "What do you mean? Is it not?"
"Well the first time you enter the Dream Realm. Your soul reflects your body without chronic illnesses. On top of that it reflects the conditioned state of your body. So the weights are mainly for endurance, but muscular strength will transfer too. That's why we have those. If you want to train stamina you can go out bad to the track. A lot of the current class is actually out there.
Judging by the fact I have not seen y'all means the two of you are new students. I would like to introduce myself. I am Awakened Orum. It is nice to meet y'all."
"I am Sleeper Anderson"
"And I am Sleeper Zena"
The man continued, "Welcome to combat class I am the head instructor here. Do the two of you have any training for combat?"
"No the only combat we have experienced would be in the first nightmare." Anderson quickly responded.
"Ok then. I will have y'all start of with the basics: stamina training, strength training, endurance training, and combat training. How does that sound?"
The two nodded.
"Oh and before you two head out back let me ask you two something. What do you think is the essence to combat."
Zena answered first. "The essence of combat is hunt or be hunted."
"Will you go into greater detail?"
Zena thought for a moment before answering, "Well, there are sides with different plans. They both want to defeat the other so they will try to hunt them. Trap, ambush, and injure the enemy. The one that is patient and careful will be the one who manages to hunt the other, successfully hunted their prey. Leaving luck to be as minimal as possible."
"Very good, actually their is a boy named Ash. He had a very similar definition. Although you were much more thorough with your explanation. He said the essence to combat was murder. So what do you think Anderson?"
"I differ from my sister in what I believe the essence of combat is. Sacrifice would be the best way to describe it. For what my sister has described was more of a smaller situation between foes. For combat is the sacrifice of life. To protect life and destroy it at the same time. Every fight a sacrifice is made, be it essence or a life to give the chance for someone else to live. This is especially true since you cannot survive alone in the Dream Realm. So one must make the sacrifice to believe in ones allies. Without this, combat will lead to the death of yourself and the death of others as they sacrificed their beliefs to you to help protect them. But without your trust in others you will be worn down till you are nothing. That is the essence of combat: Sacrifice."
"Oh, you're a thoughtful one. Yes, you are also correct. I think the combination of what the two of you said might be one of the best answers I have heard. Also, Anderson, you might become good friends with Ash. It seems the two of you share the same trait of observation.
Well thank you for answering my questions. The two of you can head out back and join the rest in stamina training, each day we will be doing something else.
Seeing the two out. Orum went to his office. 'Sacrifice. Sacrifice. Gods if only I had been there. Maybe, just maybe I would have been able to help her. Maybe she would be alive. Maybe she would be able to see her daughter grow.'
Hitting his table. "Damnit. That kid was absolutely right. Those scum in Ravenheart do not deserve to live for what they did. If they thought the same way that kid did. Then... Forget it. One day those who used her as a sacrifice will die." With that he sat there. Sitting in silents.
Anderson and Zena had started running just like everyone else. They were much slower than everyone. For everyone there had full meals for most their lives. They had grown naturally without any hinderances. Unlike Anderson and Zena, who had grown up scavenging the outskirts for anything to eat. Starving most of the time.
So when they ran they were slow, they were passed, but they both lasted much longer than most as there lives were already tough. Giving up would mean the end even if their bodies were screaming they ran.
