Chapter 54 - Blood Bombs

"Quick, what can you do?" Tedros asked as he and Mateo helped Ramon up.

"What can I do?" Ramon asked.

"Like your power!" Tedros yelled, looking up at Halford. He was yet to move, just casually moving his eyes across the old warehouse, to see what the others were doing.

"I…I…I can make things explode, I think?" Ramon replied.

"How?!" Tedros yelled.

"I don't know, it just kind of happens?"

"Dammit." Tedros snarled.

Mateo just watched Tedros frenzy come back. His kept locking eyes with a different player, some for a few seconds longer, like Valerie or Ulysses, until he finally met Leon's eyes. And without a word, Leon shot a hook out to Halford, raising him up and pulling him backwards. Halford hit his right leg on the railing and visibly winced at it, but didn't react that much at Leon's telekinesis.

Once Ramon was upright, Tedros dashed towards Leon, placing three dots down and letting them erupt into a small pillar. It was slightly taller than Leon, who then slammed Halford down into the tip. Halford merely summoned a barrier between his midsection and the tip and bounced off Tedros plan, hearing him shout something vulgar. And like he guessed, Leon's grip was lessened ever so slightly by the impact, letting him break out with a bit of a struggle, gracefully landing on his feet.

He anticipated the next attack, and it came less than a few seconds later from Elijah. The fire user was aggressive and looking to undermine him, what a surprise. But he was nothing but a thuggish attempt at a fighter who only knew how to throw rough swings, so he didn't even need his barrier for that, casually grabbing his wrist out of the air. His barrier was summoned over his stomach, where his invisible friend reached out to hit him. Her leg hit off the barrier, and in the brief moment he was able to slam Elijah's body towards her, leaving them both on the ground. He found Ulysses, terrified as usual, and casually goaded him, beckoning him to try an attack. Ulysses raised his right hand, holding it steady with his left. But when he noticed the bodies of Elijah and Valerie next to him, he knew the plan. He wasn't that stupid. But the energy was built up and he had to release it, so he just stayed his hand and kept the urge to release the energy until Halford was isolated. But he was afraid of moving in case anything happened, so he tried gesturing towards Tedros to come up with something else. Tedros looked at Leon, who tried grabbing Halford again while Mateo ran up. Tedros figured that while Halford could have two barriers up, he always had to have at least one over the warehouse to stop anyone escaping. So with enough surprise attacks, he'll eventually get overwhelmed and a chance to kill him will emerge, provided everyone contributes. Ulysses wasn't moving, clearly trying to contain his power for the right time. Something Halford will try and take advantage of should he get the opportunity. He silently took it upon himself to protect Ulysses while observing Leon and Mateo's next move.

When Leon hooked Halford, all he did was pull forward and undo the hook a second later. He was hoping he'd try to shield it, but instead a shield blocked Mateo's punch, and he quickly dodged the second, weaving backwards and summoning a barrier to cover his entire body.

And then he felt a force drag him downwards.

He looked below him, and that Ulysses boy managed to pull off a black hole and pulled him inside. He couldn't move. He actually couldn't move. He threw a barrier below his feet to stop getting sucked in. he was able to sink the barrier below his feet, letting him escape the punch being thrown by Mateo, albeit barely. He saw Tedros run to the wall. Knowing his power, he quickly climbed up Mateo's back, steering him towards Tedros direction. A look of fear quickly made it's way to Tedros face, and he backed away from the wall. Elijah went in for another attempt at attacking, his finger infused with flames. The second Mateo stood still, he was ready to kill this bastard. Mateo noticed and turned around, and so Halford quickly undid his barrier, trying to twist Mateo's body around. Unfortunately for him, Mateo was too big to move with his smaller frame. So he put a barrier on his back just in time for Elijah's hand to clash off it, and the sweet sound of his cursing hit his ears.

But in the meantime, the warehouse was shaking. With Ulysses black hole in the middle of an already shaky building, it was a genuine guess if it would fall. Granted, Halford or the other gods would probably save them, Ines thought. If for no other reason than continuing their fun. But she had an idea nobody would approve of.

She inched her way closer to the first thing she needed, an old nail, sticking out. She looked around for a little, before quickly rolling up her sleeve and slamming her elbow into it. It easily pierced her skin, and she tried not shouting through the pain. Glyle watched from her pocket in horror, but he wasn't gonna say anything, just knowing Ines has something at least resembling a plan.

Ines smeared her blood over the wall, imagining the warehouse as a strong one, one dedicated to being stable.

"What's up, Ines?" The warehouse asked.

"Stay upright, please." Ines pleaded.

"Obviously, boss." The warehouse affirmed. The shaking around the warehouse slowed down. It didn't stop fully, which gave the warehouse a pained expression, but it at least delayed the thing falling.

Ines quickly rolled her sleeve back up, but the blood was staining her cardigan. Ramon looked over at her, rushing to her side in a state of panic. Ines looked at him and smiled, trying to play off the state she was in.

"She looks like she'll live. That's my Ines." The warehouse said casually as it tried upholding the place.

"You can bring buildings to life?" Ramon yelled.

"Anything she gets her blood on." Glyle replied, triumphantly leaving her pocket.

"I see." Ramon said slowly. He was looking at his hands, and a few gears were turning in his head. Suddenly, a few recent happenings in his life were starting to make sense.

"Let me try something."

He scanned his left hand for a second, looking at each stump on his finger where his nails are supposed to be, all bitten off. And several small marks on his fingers for when he bit a little too hard and blood came out. He picked the scab off, and a fresh trail of blood was starting to emerge. Just a little, but it was something. He ran up to Halford, splashing a little bit of blood towards his hoodie, which got blood on his hoodie. Now to activate the power part…however that worked. He focused on the piece of blood in an attempt to see what happened, and noticed he felt some kind of link. Between his fingers and the bloodstain, some kind of invisible tie was being drawn between the two. Ramon moved his finger for a few seconds in various directions, and it didn't work. But he clenched his hand into a fist, and that's when it happened.

The blood exploded on impact, blowing Halford straight off Mateo's shoulders and face down on the ground. Halford turned around in panic, and was met with a full fist from Mateo, sending him flying into the wall. Elijah tried once again to set him on fire, but Halford set a barrier around him before he could. Ramon tried detonating the blood streaming out of his nose, but that did nothing. Halford looked at his bloody hand, snapping his gaze towards Ramon.

"I see." He said calmly. "Okay, new guy. Let's see how you handle this."
