Chapter 56: When the Dead Choose
Golden light tore through the breach like a wound that refused to close.
Angels poured down in disciplined ranks, wings of scripture unfolding in perfect formation. Their chains lashed out the moment they entered the Underworld, seeking every newly freed soul that still hovered in the air between life and death. The Metatron-avatar floated at their center, face calm, eyes empty of anything that could be called mercy.
Hades met them with a roar that shook the transforming realm.
Shadows surged from his body in living waves, but they no longer moved alone. Green light raced through them—Persephone's power, sharp and alive. Where the shadows touched the angels, black flowers bloomed across their armor and then burst into thorns that dragged the holy forms downward. The battlefield itself had begun to choose sides.
