Hero Association Online Part 4
Owen watched the ugly alien fall with a massive halberd, its blade glowing faintly as if it could cut through anything it touched, even the air itself, as he dropped directly toward Vision.
"Adam. I need you to make sure this is the only ship that suddenly appeared inside our territory without triggering any of Tony's satellites. And if there are more, deal with them," Owen said in a cold tone, glancing to the side for a moment at Blue Marvel, who slowly nodded before his body, covered by a flash of antimatter, shot into the sky and instantly vanished from sight. "The others just need to protect our base. If anyone is bored enough, they can deal with the ship," Owen said while pointing toward the giant donut shaped vessel still floating above them.
At the same time, it was preparing dozens of weapons aimed directly at the Hero Association base.
"I'll handle the woman... if she actually is one," Wanda said while looking at the second figure falling from the sky. She carried an energy spear and, for some reason, had been staring directly at Wanda even before touching the ground.
"Whatever you want. I'll handle your love that never was," Owen said at the same time his body flashed with reddish energy, moving at such incredible speed that the sound arrived a second after Owen had already appeared directly in front of Vision and stopped Corvus Glaive's halberd by grabbing the shaft just below the blade.
Corvus, as if he had never expected anyone to stop his weapon, widened his eyes for an instant.
But he reacted quickly, striking the rear end of the halberd and making it spin so fast it seemed to become a propeller, carving a trench through the ground and slicing it apart as if it were butter.
Then he caught it with both hands and slashed toward Owen's neck.
Owen simply ducked and struck him in the solar plexus with an open palm.
As kinetic energy traveled through his body from the tips of his feet all the way to his palm at an unpredictable speed, appearing as reddish energy before reaching the tip of every finger on his hand.
As if each finger fired a different force in a different direction, the red energy tried to tear apart Corvus's entire chest, separating it into sections.
But before it could completely destroy him, Corvus reacted within that millisecond and kicked toward Owen to push him away.
Instead, he was the one sent flying.
Owen watched one of Thanos's followers get launched through the air and glanced at his own hand for a moment, now covered in blood, which he shook off with disgust.
His gaze remained fixed on the place where Corvus landed.
But only for a second, because Corvus immediately twisted his body and used the momentum to land on his feet, though one hand remained pressed against his chest.
His chest was now covered in his own blood as he felt not only his armor, but also his flesh and bones, fracture as if they had all been forced in different directions at the same time.
"It's you," Corvus said, now staring directly at Owen and no longer paying attention to Vision, who was still completely wrecked.
Owen didn't answer.
He didn't even seem interested in answering.
He simply stared coldly at Corvus, already assuming that the Black Order probably had information on many of Earth's heroes. Especially those who had participated in the Battle of New York against the Chitauri.
"Lord Thanos told us to be careful of you. But if I can bring him your head..." Corvus said while still holding his chest.
The wound suddenly began healing itself, slowly closing as if it had never existed and leaving only his armor somewhat damaged.
Owen looked at the ugly alien.
No matter what race he belonged to, he was now an enemy of his planet.
And therefore an enemy of humanity.
And therefore his enemy.
Owen didn't say much.
He simply raised both hands and, out of nowhere, two black daggers shot out from his forearms, attached to thin golden wires made from an unknown material that looked even sharper than the daggers themselves.
Owen easily caught the wires and spun the daggers as the sound of their blades slicing through the air echoed around them.
Before catching them once again by their handles and settling into a standard military defensive stance.
"And what exactly are you waiting for?" he said with complete calm.
…
Meanwhile, on Wanda's side, the moment Owen disappeared after leaving those words behind, she simply rolled her eyes. It seemed her dear husband was still quite jealous that Vision was Wanda's husband in other realities. And honestly, it was something Wanda found just a little bit amusing.
With an amused smile, she shifted her gaze and lightly moved one hand, prepared to catch Proxima Midnight. But Thanos's follower seemed to predict her movement and spun through the air, her spear resting over her shoulder like a javelin, before throwing it directly at Wanda.
It traveled at a shocking speed, to the point that it only seemed to leave behind a shimmering trail. Appearing in front of Wanda almost instantly.
But Wanda, with her hand still raised, simply opened her fingers.
And the spear flying toward her suddenly stopped right in front of her face.
At the same time, the Association's floating island tilted for a moment, as if the weight of a star had fallen onto it. But Wanda raised her other hand beside her, pointing downward.
And at that same moment, the floating island regained its balance while she slightly tilted her head, studying the spear with interest.
"Anyone who can, focus on keeping the island afloat," Wanda said with complete calm.
As Owen's secretary within the Association, she was one of the people with the highest authority after, well, Owen, and maybe Tony and a few other important figures.
She didn't need to hear an answer from the other heroes, some of whom were already pressing fingers against their temples.
Meanwhile, she raised her other hand just in time to catch Proxima Midnight's wrist, as the alien warrior had arrived in front of her during that brief distraction.
Proxima Midnight grabbed her spear with her free hand at the same time.
And a blast of energy fired point blank toward Wanda.
The blast forced Wanda to release Proxima Midnight's wrist in order to stop the attack.
She was pushed several steps backward while a crimson energy field wrapped around her. Wanda also released the floating spear on instinct, using both hands to reinforce the shield protecting her from the powerful energy blast.
Wanda raised her gaze again, observing the power contained within that spear.
And then she looked at Proxima Midnight, who stared back at her with disdain while spinning the spear in one hand before settling into a combat stance. Dangerous sparks of energy occasionally danced across the weapon.
"Thanos ordered me not to underestimate you. Let's see if your actions justify such concern."
Wanda looked at her for a moment while Chaos Magic began slipping between her fingers.
"...Maybe you should be asking yourself why."
