Chapter 143 - Carrying A Name

"Why is it that even after having millionaires and billionaires as children, you all still bicker like you're twelve?" Jin asked as he moved to his seat at the head of the table.

No one answered him, everyone lowered back to their seats — head straight ahead.

Jin sighed. "Herald." Jin called. "Tell the kitchen to serve dinner."

Dinner was served in silence. Save for the clattering of plate and the scrapes of utensils.

Which was, objectively speaking, the best case scenario.

Herald moved through the room with quiet efficiency, directing staff as plates were set down with the kind of practiced grace that made the whole exercise look effortless.

The food was extraordinary in the way everything in this house had always been extraordinary — impeccable and completely devoid of warmth.

Jin sat at the head of the table and ate without looking up.

Nate cleared his throat. "The Alderman development finally broke ground last week." He said it casually.
