Chapter 566 - Chapter 566: The Final 6

Chapter 566: The Final 6

~Third POV~

[Sinnoh Region, Next Day, Spring Path]

The morning sun over the Sinnoh Region was a pale, gold orb hanging over the jagged peaks of Mt. Coronet, casting long, dramatic shadows across the verdant landscape below. High above the clouds, the air was crisp and biting, but for Azure Sky, it was the breath of freedom.

He sat comfortably on the broad, soft back of his Togekiss. The Jubilee Pokémon glided through the slipstreams with effortless grace, her wings barely needing to flap to maintain their steady cruise toward the northeast.

On Azure's right shoulder, Pikachu squinted against the wind, his ears pinned back, while Eevee remained curled snugly on top of Azure's head, her fluffy tail acting like a living scarf. Tucked inside the breast of his jacket, a small, pink-tinted Pichu (Mew) peered out with wide, curious eyes.

Inside the Arc Phone strapped to Azure's belt, Rotom hummed with electric energy, its digital consciousness projecting a map of their destination onto the screen. Beneath them, in the literal shadow cast by Togekiss upon the forest canopy, Gengar drifted, a silent, purple specter keeping pace with the flight.

Azure said, leaning forward to pat the silky feathers of her neck, "Almost there, Togekiss. The Spring Path. It's the perfect place. Isolated, quiet, and just the right amount of 'haunted' to keep the tourists away."

*Swoooo*

Togekiss let out a melodious, trilling cry and banked downward, "Toge-toge-kiss! (Yes, Daddy! Going down!)"

Azure took a moment to reflect. Yesterday's victory over Volkner in Sunyshore City had been the final hurdle. Eight badges now clinked in his case, a testament to his journey across this rugged land alongside the Sinnoh Pokédex holders: Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum.

He had seen the world nearly end at Spear Pillar, helped dismantle Team Galactic, and conquered the Battle Frontier. Now, only the Elite Four and the reigning Champion, Cynthia, stood between him and his fourth regional title.

As they descended, the mist of the Sendoff Spring began to rise, swirling around them like ghostly fingers. This was the Spring Path, a place where the barrier between dimensions was notoriously thin.

The group touched down in a wide, circular clearing surrounded by ancient, gnarled trees. The grass here was a deep, unnatural shade of teal, and the air felt heavy with a static charge.

Azure said, thankfully, dismounting, "Thanks for the lift, Togekiss."

*Click*

He reached for his belt, clicking a series of Poké Balls. He exclaimed proudly, "Everyone, come on out. It's time for the final briefing."

*Shhh—Vwooom*

With a series of rhythmic sounds, five beams of white light erupted from his belt, materializing into the formidable team he had chosen to lead his charge into the Pokémon League.

Infernape landed in a crouch, his head-flame erupting in a roar of orange heat. Lucario stood tall, his paws crossed over his chest, his aura sensors flickering. Gallade extended his elbow blades, the green edges shimmering with a psychic keen.

Kleavor, the ancient axe-wielder from a bygone era, slammed his stone limbs into the earth, shaking the ground. Lastly, Rotom zipped out of the Arc Phone, spinning in circles with a mischievous cackle.

Rotom's voice buzzed through the phone's speakers, clear and articulate, asking curiously, "Zzt-zzt! Ready for duty, Captain! What's the plan? Are we taking over the world? Or just the League?"

Azure chuckled, folding his arms as he answered, "Just the League for now, Rotom. Listen up, everyone. After looking at the rosters for Aaron, Bertha, Flint, and Lucian—not to mention Cynthia's Garchomp—I've made my decision. You six are the ones. You're my Sinnoh Championship Team."

A wave of reactions rippled through the group. Infernape barked a laugh, slamming a fist into his palm, while Gallade and Lucario shared a disciplined nod. They were fighters of the Battle Frontier; they knew they were ready. Kleavor let out a low, guttural grunt of approval, his predatory eyes gleaming.

Togekiss, however, tilted her head, her large eyes blinking in surprise. She let out a soft, questioning cry, "Cooo?"

Azure stepped toward her, his expression softening. He said softly, "I know, Togekiss. You haven't seen as much Gym action or Frontier battles as the others. I'm sorry I haven't leaned on you more during the journey, but I've seen your determination in training. Your grace and your ability to flinch even the toughest opponents out of their rhythm... I need that. You deserve this spot."

Togekiss chirped happily, nuzzling her head against Azure's chest, "Togecoooo!! (Aww… I'll try my best, Dad!)."

Rotom flew right into Azure's face, its digital eyes forming question marks, and asked, "And me? Zzt! Not that I'm complaining, but didn't Regigigas literally bench-press the Sunyshore Gym yesterday? Why pick the little guy over the Colossus?"

Azure replied, "Good question."

He looked over at the shadow on the ground, where Gengar emerged, her red eyes sparkling with amusement. Gengar's voice was raspy but perfectly understandable, a trait she had mastered, "He's worried about Slow Start, isn't he? The big guy takes a while to get his engine revving. In a high-stakes match against Cynthia, those first five turns are the difference between winning and a total wipe-out."

Azure nodded to Gengar, adding in a calm tone, "Exactly. Regigigas is a powerhouse, but I can't rely on brute force alone to carry me through the Elite Four. Rotom, you offer something he can't: versatility. Your Levitate ability makes you immune to the Ground-type moves Bertha loves, and your ability to change forms gives us a Grass, Fire, Water, Ice, or Flying specialist whenever we need one. You're the ultimate wild card."

Rotom's screen turned bright pink as he uttered, flattered, "Zzt! A wild card! I like the sound of that! I'm a strategic necessity! Zzt!"

Azure added with a sly grin, "Plus, I've been working on something special. A new form for you. One that adds a Normal typing to your repertoire."

Rotom stopped spinning. Its eyes widened inside the screen, and it replied, "Normal? But that's… well, normal? Zzt?"

Azure promised, "Wait for it."

He then turned his attention to the bag at his side. He continued with an amused grin, "But we aren't just here to talk. We're here to grind. And to be the best, you must learn from the best around."

Azure reached into his bag and pulled out eighteen Poké Balls. With a sweeping motion, he tossed them into the sky as he yelled, "Come out, everyone! Show them what a Champion's team looks like!"

*POP*

The clearing was suddenly flooded with blinding light. The sheer pressure of the collective power manifesting in the Spring Path was enough to make the wind stop blowing.

From his Kanto Team, Arcanine let out a thunderous roar, his mane billowing like a sun. Scizor snapped his metallic pincers with a sharp clack-clack, and Dragonite landed with a heavy thud, his friendly face belying the sheer destructive force he held. (Pikachu, Eevee, and Gengar joined their comrades, forming the full Kanto line).

From the Johto Team, Skarmory's steel wings shrieked against the air. Tyranitar let out a low, seismic growl that made the nearby lake ripple. Ampharos, Quagsire, Houndoom, and Mismagius fanned out, their presence creating a wall of veteran experience.

Finally, the Hoenn Team appeared. Milotic shimmered with an ethereal beauty, while Sceptile leaned against a tree, a twig in his mouth, looking unimpressed. Gardevoir hovered gracefully, her psychic energy humming, waving at the newbies. Beside her, the Alpha Slaking yawned, a beast the size of a small house, while Salamence and Metagross loomed like living weapons of war.

The Sinnoh team—Infernape, Lucario, Gallade, Kleavor, Togekiss, and Rotom—stood frozen. They had seen these Pokémon before, but never all at once. The sheer density of 'Champion-level' energy was suffocating.

Azure said calmly, his voice firm, "These are your mentors. For the next few weeks, there is no rest. You will spar with them. You will learn their tricks. You will learn how Arcanine moves, how Metagross calculates, and how Tyranitar endures."

But he wasn't finished.

Azure pulled out 4 Ultra Balls, a standard Poké Ball, and a shimmering Master Ball. He added, "And if you need to be pushed even further..."

*POP*

He released them. Entei appeared in a burst of volcanic ash. The Regi Trio—Regirock, Regice, and Registeel—stood like monoliths of ancient history, their braille eyes flashing in synchronization. Regigigas towered over them all, its massive hands resting on the ground. From the standard Poké Ball, a gentle Blissey emerged, clutching a glowing egg, ready to act as the team's medic.

Then, the sky darkened…

*RMBL*

A ripple appeared in the air—a distortion in time itself. Celebi flew through, giggling as she sprinkled green dust over the clearing. Following her, Mewtwo descended slowly, his purple cape-like tail flicking, his eyes glowing with an intensity that made even the Alpha Slaking sit up straight.

Two Deoxys—one in Attack Forme and one in Speed Forme—realigned their DNA strands as they hovered beside the Genetic Pokémon. From Azure's own shadow, two more figures rose. Darkrai, the lord of nightmares, and Marshadow, the dweller of shadows.

Rotom buzzed nervously and asked, "Zzt!! Is—is that the whole guest list? Why isn't Darkrai on the main team? He's literally a nightmare! Zzt!"

Darkrai's voice echoed in their minds, cold and smooth like silk over ice, 'I have no desire for the spotlight of the arena, little spark. Being Master's shadow, protecting him from the things that crawl in the dark... that is enough for me.'

Azure nodded as he explained further, "I respect their wishes. My Legendaries and Mythicals choose when they want to fight. They're here as our ultimate training partners and our support system. Blissey, Celebi, and Entei—with his Flames of Life—will ensure none of you stay injured for long. You can go 100% without fear."

Suddenly, the air in the center of the clearing began to tear…

*CRACK*

A jagged, purple-and-black rift opened, smelling of ozone and ancient decay. The Sinnoh team scrambled back, weapons drawn. The Kanto veterans tensed, and even the Regi Trio shifted into defensive stances.

A massive, ghostly serpentine head poked through the rift. Red glowing eyes stared out, flickering with malevolent power…

It was Giratina, the master of the Distortion World.

The legendary dragon let out a screech that sounded like metal grinding on metal, "SKREEEEE-YAAAAHH (WHO DARES COME TO MY-)—"

But the moment its eyes landed on Azure and the floating Mewtwo, the screech halted abruptly. Giratina blinked. Then, it visibly recoiled and flinched, its long neck pulling back into the portal, seeing them here.

Azure leaned back, hands in his pockets, a casual smile on his face. He said casually in a carefree tone to it, "Oh, hey Giratina. Sorry to disturb the neighborhood. We're just going to be here for a few weeks of training. You don't mind, do you? Or do we need a repeat of what happened in Johto?"

Mewtwo's eyes flared with a lethal blue light, and he raised a single hand, psychic energy crackling around his fingers. The memory of the battle in Johto—where Azure, Mewtwo, and the legendary Trainers Lance and Pryce had fought the trio of creation—seemed to flash through Giratina's mind.

The Great Renegade Pokémon let out a much softer, almost bashful huff, "Hmph! (Nope! I'm not dealing with this! Fuck this shit, I'm out!!)"

*Pop*

It bobbed its head slowly, a silent agreement, before the portal shrank down to a tiny, non-threatening size, remaining open just enough for Giratina to watch the show. Azure said calmly, "Good talk."

Gengar cackled, slapping her knees, exclaiming, "Look at that! The big bad ghost is playing spectator! That's my Boss! You've got the gods on a leash!"

Azure corrected, turning to Gengar, "Not a leash, Gengar. Just mutual respect. Or in this case, deterrence."

He then reached into his backpack and pulled out a sleek, high-tech piece of equipment. It was a mini-stereo system, but it looked modified with Devon Corp. tech. Azure asked Rotom with an eager expression and sly grin, "Alright, Rotom. You wanted to know about that new form?"

Rotom flew over, vibrating with excitement, chimed, "Zzt! The Stereo! Is it a boombox? A subwoofer? Tell me! Zzt!"

Azure explained, setting it on a flat rock, "This is a specialized Sonic-Resonance casing. It's designed to amplify your electrical output into pure kinetic sound waves. By possessing this, your molecular structure will shift to accommodate the 'vibration' frequency. You'll gain the Normal typing, which will give you a much-needed immunity to Ghost moves, and you'll gain access to one of the most powerful sound moves in existence."

Rotom didn't hesitate as it chimed, "Don't mind if I do! Zzt-vwoop!"

*ZAP*

The plasma-based Pokémon dived into the stereo. The speakers began to glow with a neon blue light. The casing expanded and retracted like a beating heart. The dials spun wildly, and the digital display flashed a series of rhythmic equalizers.

When the transformation was complete, the stereo hovered in the air, surrounded by a faint, vibrating aura. Azure asked, "How do you feel?"

Rotom's voice now had a deep, bassy resonance, "I feel... LOUD. Zzt-bwaaa!"

[Ding!]

[Rotom has gained the Normal Typing in Stereo Rotom Form!]

[All Normal Type Moves get STAB!]

[Gained the Inherited Move Boomburst!]

Azure, seeing the pop-up text boxes, smiled happily, seeing that his idea worked for Rotom, adding another coverage to it. Azure pointed toward a distant, uninhabited rock formation near the lake, "Try it out. Use your new move, Boomburst!"

The speakers on Rotom's new body vibrated so hard they became a blur. A concentrated sphere of white-hot sound energy formed in front of the grills!

*BWAAAAAAAA-THOOM*

A massive shockwave ripped through the clearing. The lake water exploded upward in a hundred-foot geyser, and the rock formation didn't just break—it disintegrated into fine sand. The sound was so intense that even Infernape had to cover his ears.

Rotom shouted, his voice echoey and powerful, "Zzt-haha! Oh, I am going to have SO much fun with this!"

Azure said excitedly, his eyes glinting with the fire of a strategist, "Perfect Rotom! Now, let's get to work. Infernape, you're sparring with Arcanine and Entei. I want you to learn how to incorporate Entei's Flames of Life into your arsenal, if possible, learn Sacred Fire. Lucario, you're with Gardevoir and Mewtwo—work on your Aura Sphere's tracking and Aura Manipulation shielding."

He turned to the others, giving further instructions to follow, "Gallade, you're with Scizor and Sceptile. I want your blade-work to be so fast it creates vacuum pockets. Kleavor, you're with Tyranitar and Regirock. You need to learn how to break through the sturdiest defenses. Togekiss, you're with Dragonite and Milotic. We're working on your Air Slash accuracy and your Extreme Speed pivots."

Rotom asked, thumping a funky beat through his speakers, "And me? Zzt?"

Azure said confidently with a mischievous grin, "You're with Mismagius, Regigigas, and Metagross. We're going to teach you how to layer your Boomburst with Confuse Ray and Psychic frequencies. Also, Regigigas might give insight into how to control Pokémon with Confuse Ray. By the time we're done, nobody will be able to touch you."

As the training began, the Spring Path transformed. The quiet, unsettling clearing became a chaotic symphony of power.

*CRACK-BOOM*

Infernape's fist met Arcanine's jaw in a collision of fire!

*SHHH-RING*

Gallade's blades clashed against Scizor's steel pincers, sparks flying like fireworks!

*VWOOM-VWOOM*

Lucario dodged a barrage of psychic bolts from Mewtwo, his eyes closed, relying entirely on the blue threads of aura connecting him to the world!

Azure stood in the center of it all, Pikachu and Eevee by his feet, watching his team interact. He saw the Johto veteran Tyranitar showing Kleavor how to brace for a heavy impact.

He saw Milotic gently guiding Togekiss through a series of aerial loops, teaching her how to use the mist to her advantage. Gengar said casually, floating beside Azure, "They're doing well."

She popped a piece of candy into her mouth as she added, "But you know Cynthia isn't going to play fair. That Garchomp of hers... It's a monster. But not only that, but her own Legendary too."

Azure said calmly, his gaze drifting toward the small Pichu (Mew) hiding in his jacket. The little Pokémon gave him a reassuring wink, "I know. That's why we're not just training for strength. We're training for synergy. We're training to be a single, unbreakable unit. But till then, we have work to do."

Azure smirked as he mused internally to himself, 'Shame I couldn't add Garchomp to the team. But if those Elite Four fought against Cynthia, then they have countermeasures against her ace that mine can't gain in just a few weeks of battling. Plus me trying to outshine her Garchomp with my own? Can't risk it…'

Azure watched intently as his team began to work and learn from the older teams. He smirked, wondering to himself, 'Still… I wonder if it will be enough…'

[Sinnoh Region, Weeks Later, Spring Path]

Hours turned into days. The routine was grueling. Azure barely slept, spending his nights reviewing footage of Cynthia's past matches on his Arc Phone. At the same time, Blissey and Entei moved among the sleeping Pokémon, healing bruises and soothing tired muscles with life-giving flames and soft glows.

One afternoon, during a particularly intense session, Lucario and Gallade were double-teaming Metagross. The Iron Leg Pokémon was a fortress, its four brains calculating every move before it happened.

Azure commanded, "Now! Lucario, use Bone Rush to create a diversion! Gallade, use Night Slash from the blind spot!"

Lucario conjured a staff of pure energy, spinning it so fast it looked like a golden shield. He slammed it into the ground, kicking up a massive cloud of teal dust. Metagross's eyes scanned the dust, but Gallade had already vanished into the shadows, coached by Marshadow.

Gallade reappeared above Metagross, his blades glowing with a dark, purplish energy. He struck with surgical precision, hitting the joints where the armor was thinnest.

*CLANG*

Metagross slid back several feet, its heavy legs digging furrows into the earth. It let out a metallic sound of approval.

Rotom-Stereo flew over, the equalizer on his screen spiking, "Zzt! My turn! My turn! Check out this remix! Boomburst-Thunderbolt combo!"

Rotom unleashed a wall of sound, but this time, it was laced with jagged bolts of yellow electricity. The attack didn't just hit; it resonated, the electricity riding the sound waves to bypass traditional elemental resistances.

The shockwave hit a target dummy Azure had set up, and the dummy didn't just fall—it was vaporized by the sheer vibratory frequency. Azure cheered, "Excellent, Rotom! The resonance is perfect!"

As the sun began to set on the tenth day, the atmosphere in the Spring Path shifted. The Pokémon were no longer just sparring; they were moving with a lethal, synchronized grace. The Sinnoh team had absorbed the 'aura' of the veterans.

Infernape's flames were hotter, tinged with the white-blue intensity of Entei's influence. Togekiss flew with a new, predatory sharpness, her movements as unpredictable as a Salamence's strike.

Azure looked around at his assembled family. From the legendary Mewtwo to the tiny Eevee, they were all focused on a single goal.

He walked over to the edge of the Sendoff Spring, looking into the dark, still water. In the reflection, he saw himself—the boy from Earth who had been given a second chance in a world of wonders.

He remembered the struggle of his first League in Kanto, the grueling mountains of Johto, and the treacherous seas of Hoenn. He wasn't just a trainer anymore. He was a force of nature.

Pikachu climbed up onto his shoulder, rubbing his cheek against Azure's, "Pika-pi? (You okay, partner?)"

Azure whispered, scratching the mouse behind the ears, "I'm fine, buddy. I was just thinking about our past. We've come a long way. From Pallet Town to the Distortion World's doorstep."

Gengar drifted up beside him, her crimson eyes staring into the dark water. She said curiously, "You're nervous about Cynthia, aren't you? Even with all this? Even with Mewtwo and the big lizard in the hole?"

Azure smiled, a genuine, sharp-edged grin. He shook his head as he answered in a resolute tone, "Nervous? No. I'm excited, Gengar. Cynthia is the ultimate test. She's the one trainer who treats every battle like a masterpiece. And I want to see if our masterpiece is better than hers."

The Sinnoh Team gathered behind him. Infernape, Lucario, Gallade, Kleavor, Togekiss, and the floating Stereo-Rotom. They stood tall, their shadows long and imposing against the twilight.

Behind them, the veterans—Arcanine, Tyranitar, Metagross, and the rest—let out a collective cry of support. It was a sound that echoed across the Spring Path, carrying through the trees and out toward the Sinnoh mainland.

The Legendaries bowed their heads. Mewtwo crossed his arms, a ghost of a smile touching his face. Celebi did a victory lap around Azure's head, sprinkling him with luck. Regigigas hummed with a thumbs up.

Azure said resolutely, his voice ringing with absolute confidence, "Alright, everyone. Pack it up. We've done the work. We've tasted the power of the past, and we've forged the power of the future."

He looked toward the horizon, where the lights of the Pokémon League at the end of Route 223 would soon be visible. Azure muttered, "Elite Four... Cynthia... get ready."

Azure hopped onto Togekiss's back. Pikachu, Eevee, and Pichu-Mew took their places. Rotom zipped back into the Arc Phone, though he kept playing a faint, upbeat battle theme through the speakers. Gengar vanished into Azure's shadow, her laughter echoing one last time.

Azure declared, "Togekiss, let's go. To the League!"

*FWP—SWOOO*

With a powerful flap of her wings, Togekiss ascended. Below them, the Spring Path faded into the mist, the legendary portal to the Distortion World closing with a final, satisfied hum from Giratina.

Azure was no longer just a traveler. He was a storm approaching the gates of the Champion. And as they flew into the starlit night, the entire Sinnoh region seemed to hold its breath, waiting for the clash that would define an era.

The grind was over. The battle for history had begun.
