While Femi was being interrogated by the chaos elemental spirit, Alex was experiencing the same thing.
Standing in one place, Alex looked around him with a calm expression underneath his mask. He had suddenly realised that Femi had disappeared, and the chaos elemental spirit, which was in the form of a tree, was no longer in view.
He released his senses, trying to look for Femi, but his mage sense seemed to be absorbed into an infinite empty realm; he couldn't sense anything past ten meters around him!
Before he could think of what to do next, a huge shadow suddenly swallowed him. Alex focused and realised that the strange tree was now in front of him. He hadn't sensed it coming close, and Alex was sure that he wasn't the one who had walked toward it, since he had stopped moving the instant he was separated from Femi.
'Is this one of its abilities?' Alex thought inwardly, stunned by how overwhelming the chaos element was.
