Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Back to Normal

But as time went on, it became more and more obvious day by day. For some reason, even while talking, she would sometimes silently stare at something for a short moment.

Sometimes she would also look at him silently as though she were in a daze. Xiao didn't think she was looking at him because she found him too handsome. No, he wasn't that much of a narcissist to believe that.

Instead, he felt that she was looking at him that way because she was trying to make a decision. And for some reason, Xiao increasingly felt that whatever decision she was going to make would eventually change their relationship forever.

Whether it would be for better or worse, he didn't know.

Since he had already made his decision, he would wait and see what hers would be. Whether it was something he liked or not, he would accept it.

When he looked at her, Xi Hong had already changed from her hospital gown into her normal clothes, in which she looked even more stunning.

Beside the bed, her luggage was already packed, indicating that she was ready to leave.

Both of them looked into each other's eyes as though the entire world had disappeared and only the two of them remained.

The pale golden sunlight streamed into the room, illuminating their faces, while the sound of birds chirping could be heard in the background.

Both of them silently stared at each other.

Even though neither of them said anything, it was as though thousands of emotions and words had already been exchanged between them.

Even though Xiao wanted to say something, he felt as if the words were stuck in his throat.

There were many things he wanted to say, to share, to ask, and to find answers to.

But no matter what he wanted to do, he found himself unable to say anything. His eyes trembled slightly.

On the other hand, Xi Hong was the same.

She looked at him for a few moments before biting her lip slightly and gritting her teeth, as though she had finally made a decision.

She picked up her luggage and walked toward Xiao. But before he could say anything, she whispered something into his ear as she walked past him, leaving the room.

Xiao stood there in a daze, slightly confused, as he repeated the words she had just whispered.

"Wait for me."

Three simple words.

Yet those simple words conveyed more meaning than anything else he needed to hear at that moment.

An unconscious smile appeared on his face as he quietly muttered,

"Wait for me, huh?"

"Sure... I will."

After that day, his life seemed to return to normal, just as it had been before he fell sick. Without any surprise, his grandmother asked him what had actually happened between him and Xi Hong.

When he told her about what had happened that day, she let out a sigh.

"That lass... always so mysterious, smart, and calm. Even before leaving, she didn't answer you directly. But the fact that she told you to wait for her is already an answer in itself."

She patted his shoulder.

"Women like her are rare to come by, Xiao. They hesitate and think things through carefully to make sure they haven't fallen for the wrong person someone who doesn't deserve their love."

"Instead, they make sure that whoever they love is worthy of it so that, during hard times, they won't regret their decision. But once they decide to love someone, they do it wholeheartedly, devoting themselves completely to their partner. Even during difficult times, they will support you and never leave you, whether financially or emotionally."

She smiled.

"Alright, no need to worry so much about it. Since she told you to wait for her, that means she will come back for you. Maybe much sooner than you imagine. So let's forget about that. Let me make your favorite dish!"

Xiao couldn't help but nod to his grandmother.

After that, his life continued normally. Because he had been sick for the past two years, he hadn't been able to attend high school.

So after he was discharged from the hospital, his grandmother enrolled him in a local high school near their farmhouse.

There, he made several friends. Among them, one person could truly be called his best friend. His name was Lin Fan. He was originally Chinese, but his parents had later moved to America.

However, that wasn't the reason he became Xiao's best friend. Well, at first Xiao became friends with him because of that, as both of their circumstances were somewhat similar.

But as they interacted more regularly, Xiao came to realize that Lin Fan was one of the most pretentious bastards he had ever met. He was simply a trickster.

He would do all kinds of insane and bizarre things just for fun, then pretend as though he were the most innocent person in the entire school. Like pulling a fake terrorist attack prank on the whole school.

Or giving a teacher a T-shirt with "i am stupid. But let's play." written on it for their birthday.

Or sneaking into the school at night and hanging a signboard in front of the school gate that read, "School is closed forever. Beacuse principal is Consuleing himself" or some other equally crazy nonsense.

He was simply an insane bastard. But maybe it was because of that that his vibes matched Xiao's. The two of them simply became best friends.

And Xiao wasn't going to lie the time he spent with Lin Fan was genuinely fun.

Just like that, with his best buddy by his side, Xiao's high school life continued. Before he even realized it, two years had passed, and he completed high school and graduated.

After that, both Xiao and Lin Fan were accepted into one of the world's most prestigious universities, Oxford University. Which was located in the United Kingdom.
