"You are going to die." A feminine voice resounded from a deep, dark corner of the cavern.
"Hmm...?" Leon's eyes immediately tracked the sound into the gloom, picking out a pair of legs trembling violently behind a stack of weathered wooden crates. As he focused his vision, he noticed the flesh was marked by thousands of jagged cuts and blistering burn marks.
"We are all going to die someday, darling," Leon replied smoothly. He pulled off his shirt, tearing a thick strip of cloth before tightly wrapping it around the wound on his leg to stanch the bleeding.
"...some of us just accept death too fast, and others are too stubborn to even consider it a real thing."
"I am sorry... you are dying because of me," she spoke, her voice dropping into a hollow, neutral tone.
"How so?" Leon asked, his expression remaining flat as he secured the knot.
