Chapter 403 - Chapter 403

Natalia stood in the sands of the Black Coliseum... The gate slowly shutting behind her as she took in the harsh atmosphere.

'How is anyone supposed to focus in this?' She frowned... Her lazy indigo eyes scouting the hyped opponents on the other side of the Coliseum.

She brushed her long braided indigo hair back behind her shoulders before returning her hands back behind her back... Simply standing unarmed as she basked in what she found as a depressing scene.

It was all so depressing...

The situation that she was in...

That the other citizens of Seh Jenah were in...

It was all so tiring...

So, she found herself curious when change threatened to come for Seh Jenah... Wondering to herself if maybe... Just maybe... Someone with courage could change the course of the future...

Her blade jingled within her colossal catalyst... Alerting her of the aggression coming from the skull-masked axe wielding berserker who was heading towards her at terrible speed.

She frowned in detest.

"Lizzy... Isn't this all so... Mmm I don't know. Fake?" She asked, raising an eyebrow at her psychotic bestie.

Lizzy's deep tanned skin glimmered under the stadium lights. Her two messy buns flowing in the wind as her bright battle-hungry smile lit up her face... However, her golden eyes were locked on the giant lightning bolt coming straight at the both of them.

"Natty..." Lizzy said almost gasping... Her right hand rearranging her breastplate that was cropped above her stomach... Which Natalia had always found as a terribly ignorant way to die...

"I really really wanna to fight this guy..." Lizzy's golden eyes lit up as sharp iron sawblades shot out from her visible skin... Each one spinning with more and more reverence than the last.

"Isn't it kind of cold for the shorts?" Natalia tilted her head, her eyes deadly calm as she asked her friend such a casual question.

"Nah Natty... The blood of this Actor guy will warm me up quite well..." Lizzy grinned ear to ear.

"Never mind then..." Natalia could never get a read of Lizzy anyway, so she found no use to try and get one now...

"Oh right..." Natalia remembered that they were about to fight the so called most anticipated battle of the year.

...

Chase frowned behind his mask... Hearing the shutting of the stone gate behind him, only to be replaced by the terrible roars of the crowd.

Then Chase looked at his opponent, which he already knew the identity of... But deep down... He did wonder if a part of her already knew who she was about to fight.

Natalia of House Durangor... The Sword of Seh Jenah... Chase could see her cosmic blue eyes glowing from the opposite end of the arena.

At first... Chase felt dread in the current situation... Knowing full well what could truly happen in the midst of this fight... And even the things that could follow in its wake.

However...

Equan had been right.

Why would they not try to win this with all of their might?

Why assume the role of the underdog?

Chase grit his teeth with excitement.

He already knew which of the two Paladins he was going to get a chance to clash blades with... And he was more than willing to do so.

Natalia of House Durangor had once assisted the city of Solis in a war against The Kingdom of Equus... But now...

She was about to fight the king who brought Equus to its knees.

...

Equan grit his teeth behind his mask.

Fear was laced in his eyes... Alongside something else...

It was love...

Love at first sight in fact...

Although the posters and T-shirts had already done her well... It was as if they had been mere fakes of the original...

Equan felt pure euphoria... The sound of the crowd... The view of his opponent... The way of life...

It was all so...

Extravagant...

And so Equan felt the energy within him spark and cackle in the face of this battle... Having heard the call... He let loose his first arrow... Encaged in a radiant bundle of pure blue lightning...

That same lightning hurled towards the two defenders alongside the blade of Apocalypse... which hummed with vivid hunger...
