I don't have much choice but to accept Amora's words as the truth. But after a long, restful pause, I couldn't ignore my worries.
"You're happy with this, right?" I asked. "You and all the women you merged with?"
"Oh, so happy." Amora said, smiling brightly. "I only wish you could feel even a fraction of the happiness that I feel. The others are united with me in purpose and in love. If this was not their deepest, truest desire, they would not have merged with me. They share in my immeasurable joy."
Again, I have no choice but to take her word for it, but I don't have any reason to suspect she's lying.
"That's good." I said, deciding to let go of my doubts for now.
We sat in comfortable silence for a long while. I ate some of the snacks on the coffee table. I haven't tasted some of these things in such a long time that I forgot what they tasted like. Amora was obviously trying to find the most comfortable way to press herself against me.
"So," I said, awkwardly. "What's next?"
