Kai's Nen Ability Name: Orbital Orbs
Nen Categories: Manipulation / Emission / Transmutation
Description: Kai's ability allows him to create up to six orbs of Nen that have a variety of powerful effects each one. This ability combines Emission and Manipulation to create and control these orbs, in addition to other categories, allowing for a versatile range of capabilities.
Condition: The orbs can only move within a range of 10 meters in every direction. Kai can create an orb once per 24 hours, and the creation of orbs depletes his entire aura reserves, leaving him completely exhausted and weak.
Emission: Kai gathers his aura into a singular point, concentrating his Nen and programing specific inputs to form a particular orb. The amount of aura used to create an orb determines its power and/or number of uses.
Manipulation: Once the orb is formed, Yuuma uses Manipulation to control its movements, making it hover around him. The orbs remain invisible and unless used they will be on standby. Some of them also have Manipulation functions.
Transmutation: Some of the orbs use the Transmutation category to fulfill their functions.
Daily Use:
Unused orbs continue to hover around Yuuma, maintaining their connection to his aura but not draining additional energy. His orbs are at his most potent and efficient when he invests a hundred percent of his aura pool, but he usually invests 50% of his aura capacity to create an orb when he doesn't have the time and space to assume the consequences of exhausting the entirety of his aura. As he grows more powerful and increases the maximum amount of aura in his body, the better their capabilities will be.
Versatility:
The orbs serve many different functions, covering various needs for Kai in different circumstances, both in and out of combat, making it an incredibly versatile ability.
Disadvantages:
The amount of orbs he can hold at once, as well as their power, is largely dependent on the capacity of his aura. As he becomes more powerful, these characteristics will increase, eventually being able to hold up a max of 6 orbs at a time. Also, since they require a large portion of his aura, he needs to be careful about which orbs to use or hold at any given time so as not to exhaust himself unnecessarily.
Also, he knows that in this kind of world, he cannot cover every particular circumstance and need he encounters along the way. That's why he decided to only create 6 different types of orbs so that he could develop another ability later in the future and so that he wouldn't suffer from a memory overload like what happened with Kastro. <
Orbs developed so far:
Development Orb: The first Hatsu application Kai created. When this orb is introduced into a person, it enhances all the innate qualities that cannot be seen with the naked eye. That is to say, it doesn't increase strength, toughness, speed or Nen ability, but everything else, such as senses, mental capacity or talent for anything you put effort into, including learning and growing Nen.
The extent of the effects varies from person to person as this ability is based on enhancing the maximum innate potential of each individual, but once you introduce this orb into your body you should feel more conscious and liberated, as if you have freed yourself from shackles you didn't even know you had.
When Kai integrated this orb into his body, his already high potential and growth speed skyrocketed to the point where he could match and defeat Nen's teacher Wing after just 4 months of intensive training using only Enhancement techniques, and defeat and kill the genius fighter Hisoka in an apotheotic and incredibly tough fight after 6 months, despite having to divert his attention and efforts to save all the spectators who were watching them.
By using this ability on Wing, it allowed him to further enhance his long-stagnant power, increasing his power and forcing Kai to use his Orbital Orbs in subsequent matches against him. With Nicholas, he increased his abilities so much that he was able to surpass Zushi, who had trained for more months than Nicholas, despite not using her Ren, and grew strong enough to eventually become a Floor Master. And with Ponzu, who was suffering from a growth stagnation due to an inherent lack of talent, it allowed her to grow past the wall that stood in front of her enough to master the Four Major Principles of Nen, learn to use (but not master) advanced applications, and become strong enough to win a fight on the 200th floor in just 2 months of training (though unlike Nicholas, she has not been able to create a Hatsu yet).
Furthermore, this power also has the hidden quality of rendering the host immune to Manipulation abilities, since the orb itself already manipulates the user to enhance their abilities and a person cannot be controlled by 2 Nen abilities at once.
Weaknesses: While this orb increases an individual's growth potential, it cannot increase it beyond the maximum limits that the individual can have (if you can't become as strong as a Royal Guard, then the orb won't help you achieve that). Additionally, a person's starting talent greatly influences how the Development Orb will affect them, as Kai, Wing, Nicholas, and Ponzu all have different levels and growth rates.
Regarding the advantage of not being affected by a Manipulation power, while the individual affected by the orb cannot be controlled or altered by a Manipulation power, they can still be affected by Nen abilities that have Manipulation as one of their categories for use, but do not try to control or affect the user directly (Milluki, Shalnark and Zazan's abilities would not work, but Genthru's, Leech and Kurapika's would).
Furthermore, not being able to be manipulated also comes with its own drawbacks, such as not being able to act as a participant for Longui's Nen ability, not being able to gain a power boost from an ability, and potentially becoming a suspect in an investigation or situation because of this detail and gaining the attention, caution, and distrust of other people.
Wormhole Orb: This orb allows Kai to create a glowing circular portal that connects to any place he imagines, regardless of distance. To do this, Kai must place the orb while thinking of the desired location, and it will then expand to form the portal leading to the desired location. This orb allows travel or escape to incredibly distant areas in a short time, with no limit to the places it can lead to. In addition to that, Kai can also use it to redirect attacking individuals or to dismember them if the situation arises.
Weaknesses: This orb can only lead to locations whose coordinates it has recorded during its existence: it cannot take Kai to places he's been before he created it, nor can it take him to places he's visited while the orb wasn't floating around him. In addition to that, it also has a limit of uses depending on the amount of aura invested: in its first appearance it was 2, and by the time of the Succession War it will be 5.
The maximum time the portal can remain open is 1 hour, but Kai can close it earlier if he wishes, and can also reopen another portal with the same coordinates if he still has uses available.
Location registration is performed within a 5-meter omnidirectional radius of Kai, meaning the orb cannot open portals in locations outside that radius. The portal's size can vary according to Kai's preference, but it cannot exceed 2 meters in diameter. Furthermore, once placed, it cannot be moved without closing it.
Barrier Orb: This orb employs Transmutation to change its form into a barrier that Kai uses to protect himself or others. The barrier can be used as a platform to propel himself in battle, allowing for omnidirectional attacks, or even to fly through the sky. Additionally, Kai can also change the shape of the orb to trap his enemies and suffocate them, much like Sadaso and Zeno Zoldyck did.
Weaknesses:
Although physical in consistency, the orb does not stop attacks and impacts, but rather absorbs energy when something collides with it. This means that very powerful attacks can pass through it (albeit weakened), or very strong people can break free from its grip, causing the orb to "break" and reshape into its original form automatically.
Like the rest of the orbs, this one has a certain amount of charged aura that is depleted every time it comes into contact with something, increasing the speed of consumption in terms of the absorbed energy, and when it's depleted, the orb disappears. In addition, it cannot be charged once it is complete (the rule for all orbs), so Kai will have to create a new one to replace it.
Also, although Kai can cover his body with the orb to increase his defense, due to having a physical consistency, it also has the disadvantage of not being able to move the covered area. Ex: if he covers his fist, he would not be able to move his fingers. That is why Kai prefers to keep the orb detached from his body.
Barrage Orb: From this orb, Kai rapidly fires multiple aura proyectiles at his opponent, each delivering a powerful impact. This ability is highly effective for overwhelming and possibly destroying an opponent with a barrage of attacks, or to face a large number of opponents at once, even being able to fire several projectiles omnidirectionally to overcome the disadvantage of being surrounded by an enemy group.
In addition, Kai can concentrate every last ounce of the orb aura to fire an enormous flare of unparalleled destructive power, very similar to Isaac Netero's "Zero Hand". This is Kai's ultimate offensive technique, and is nicknamed the "Orbital Cannon".
Weaknesses:
This orb only has purely offensive abilities, so it's useless outside of combat. Like the other Orbital Orbs, the Barrage Orb also has a limited charge, and after unleashing enough attacks, it will disappear and need to be recreated.
Also, despite basing this ability on Franklin Bordeau and Bloster's Hatsus, since it doesn't impose strict conditions on it, his aura bullets generally aren't as strong as theirs. This can be overcome by using a larger amount of aura, but this also drains the orb's charge more quickly.
Kai doesn't need to make any gestures or movements to fire his Nen projectiles in any direction, but he does need to focus a certain level of attention on where he wants to fire and how much charge he wants to use. While this doesn't leave him immobile or defenseless, it does leave him vulnerable enough to be caught by surprise attacks.
