Chapter 47 - SEASON 1 CHAPTER 47 (The Final Match)

Chapter 47: The Final Match

The ride back to the Heroes' Lair was quieter than usual.

Lee Kung sat by the window of the transport vehicle, staring at the passing city lights. The modern world still felt strange to him. Towering buildings stretched toward the sky like man-made mountains. Cars rushed through glowing streets. Giant screens displayed advertisements larger than some villages he had seen in Azura.

Yet none of those things occupied his thoughts.

His mind remained fixed on Gin Morino.

There was something about him.

Something familiar.

Something that refused to leave Lee Kung's mind.

When he finally arrived at the Heroes' Lair, he was greeted by Mia before he could even step through the entrance.

"There you are," she said, crossing her arms. "You've been gone for hours."

Lee Kung laughed.

"I got distracted."

"At a fighting tournament?"

"How did you know?"

Mia raised an eyebrow.

"Because Sio Jun already told me."

Lee Kung sighed.

"Of course she did."

Mia smiled before wrapping her arms around him.

For a moment all the tension left his body.

The events with Lee Kang.

The kidnapping of Harris.

The shadows.

The endless battles.

Everything seemed distant.

"You should be careful," Mia said softly.

Lee Kung looked down.

"Careful?"

"That Gin guy."

His eyes narrowed.

"You noticed it too?"

Mia nodded.

"I don't know what it is. But every time you talk about him, something feels off."

Lee Kung remained silent.

That feeling again.

That strange certainty.

Like he knew Gin from somewhere.

Like their paths had crossed before.

But that was impossible.

Right?

Eventually the two joined Sio Jun for dinner before returning to their rooms.

The next morning came quickly.

School felt far more normal now.

The students already knew who Lee Kung was.

The mysterious handsome transfer student.

The girls were especially excited.

Several greeted him before he even reached his seat.

"Good morning, Lee!"

"Want to sit with us at lunch?"

"Lee, you're coming to the cultural festival right?"

Another girl winked.

"Don't let your girlfriend hear that."

The classroom erupted into laughter.

Lee Kung immediately turned red.

Across the room Mia glared at the girls.

The girls instantly looked away.

Sio Jun nearly fell out of her chair laughing.

Lee Kung buried his face in his hands.

"I miss fighting monsters."

The school day passed normally.

Classes.

Assignments.

Lunch.

Training discussions.

Nothing unusual.

For the first time since arriving in the modern world, Lee Kung almost felt like a normal teenager.

Almost.

Because every now and then he would catch Gin staring at him.

Not in a threatening way.

Not even suspicious.

Just... watching.

Observing.

Studying.

Like he was trying to solve a puzzle.

When the final bell rang, Gin approached him.

"You ready?"

Lee Kung smiled.

"For tonight?"

Gin nodded.

"The finals."

Lee Kung extended his hand.

"Good luck."

Gin shook it.

His grip was firm.

Confident.

Then he smirked.

"We're not friends anymore once we step into that ring."

Lee Kung blinked.

"What?"

Gin's smile widened.

"No holding back."

For the first time all day, Lee Kung felt a chill.

Something about the way Gin said it.

The confidence.

The certainty.

It wasn't arrogance.

It was conviction.

Gin genuinely believed he could win.

"I wouldn't want it any other way," Lee Kung replied.

The two released their grip.

Neither realized that both were smiling.

Tonight would decide everything.

The arena was packed.

Far more crowded than the previous day.

Hundreds of students filled the seats.

People cheered from every direction.

Some held signs.

Others shouted names.

The tournament had become one of the school's biggest events.

Lee Kung entered through one gate.

Gin through the other.

Before the final match, however, each fighter had one remaining battle.

A semi-final elimination round.

Lee Kung's opponent was a massive third-year student named Brock.

The guy looked like he belonged in a professional fighting league.

Muscles bulged beneath his shirt.

His arms were nearly twice Lee Kung's size.

The crowd erupted.

"BROCK!"

"BROCK!"

"BROCK!"

The giant stepped into the ring.

Then smiled.

"You don't look tough."

Lee Kung scratched the back of his head.

"I get that a lot."

The bell rang.

Brock charged instantly.

The floor shook beneath each step.

Lee Kung sidestepped.

The punch missed.

A crater appeared where Brock's fist landed.

The audience gasped.

Lee Kung whistled.

"Strong."

Brock swung again.

And again.

And again.

Each punch carried enough force to break bones.

But Lee Kung avoided every strike effortlessly.

His movements were smooth.

Natural.

Like flowing water.

The crowd slowly became quieter.

Because they realized something.

Brock wasn't missing because he was inaccurate.

Lee Kung was making him miss.

Every time.

Without effort.

Five minutes passed.

Brock was exhausted.

Lee Kung hadn't even broken a sweat.

Frustration consumed the larger fighter.

He roared.

Then launched himself forward with everything he had.

Lee Kung sighed.

"Sorry."

He moved.

One step.

One punch.

The strike landed directly in Brock's chest.

The giant froze.

His eyes widened.

Then he flew across the ring.

The crowd exploded.

The referee immediately called the match.

"WINNER! LEE KUNG!"

Cheers erupted.

Mia jumped from her seat.

Sio Jun howled louder than anyone.

Lee Kung simply waved awkwardly.

His attention shifted toward the opposite ring.

Where Gin was fighting.

And suddenly Lee Kung stopped smiling.

Because Gin was good.

Really good.

Not superhuman.

Not magical.

Not enhanced.

Just skilled.

Every movement was precise.

Every strike calculated.

Every dodge perfectly timed.

His opponent attacked relentlessly.

Yet Gin never seemed worried.

The fight lasted nearly fifteen minutes.

Neither fighter gave ground.

The crowd remained on their feet.

Then finally Gin landed a spinning kick.

His opponent collapsed.

The referee raised Gin's hand.

The arena erupted once more.

Now only two fighters remained.

Lee Kung.

Gin Morino.

The final match.

The championship.

The crowd buzzed with anticipation.

Even Mia looked nervous.

Sio Jun crossed her arms.

"I don't trust him."

Lee Kung glanced toward Gin.

The boy stood alone across the arena.

Watching.

Waiting.

Thinking.

The bell finally sounded.

The championship match had begun.

For several moments neither moved.

The entire arena held its breath.

Then Gin smiled.

"So."

Lee Kung smiled back.

"So."

"Let's see what you've got."

Both moved simultaneously.

BOOM!

Their fists collided.

The impact echoed through the arena.

The crowd exploded.

Neither fighter backed away.

Punches followed.

Kicks.

Blocks.

Counters.

The exchange became a blur.

Lee Kung quickly realized something.

Gin wasn't normal.

Not magically.

Not physically.

But mentally.

His combat instincts were incredible.

He adapted almost instantly.

Every move Lee Kung used became less effective the second time.

Then less effective again.

And again.

The fight continued.

Five minutes.

Ten minutes.

Fifteen minutes.

Sweat dripped from both fighters.

The audience could barely follow the action.

Each exchange became faster than the last.

Gin suddenly landed a strike.

Lee Kung stumbled.

The crowd gasped.

Then another.

And another.

Lee Kung's eyes widened.

Gin was winning.

Not by strength.

Not by power.

By skill.

Pure skill.

"You're distracted," Gin said.

Lee Kung blocked another attack.

"You talk too much."

Gin laughed.

Then struck again.

Lee Kung barely avoided it.

The crowd erupted.

Mia leaned forward.

Something wasn't right.

For the first time since she'd met him...

Lee Kung was struggling.

Not because he was weaker.

Because he was holding back.

Far too much.

Meanwhile Gin continued pressing forward.

Relentless.

Fearless.

Determined.

Every successful strike pushed Lee Kung closer toward the edge of the ring.

Then it happened.

Gin landed a clean hit.

Lee Kung slid backward.

The crowd exploded.

Even Sio Jun stood up.

Lee Kung stared at Gin.

Then smiled.

A genuine smile.

"Okay."

Gin tilted his head.

"Okay?"

Lee Kung cracked his neck.

"I guess five percent should be enough."

Gin blinked.

"What?"

The next second Lee Kung disappeared.

The audience gasped.

He reappeared directly in front of Gin.

For the first time all night...

Gin looked shocked.

Lee Kung's fist stopped inches from his face.

The wind pressure alone pushed Gin backward.

His eyes widened.

"What was—"

Lee Kung moved again.

Faster.

Stronger.

Sharper.

Still heavily restrained.

But no longer pretending.

The entire momentum of the fight changed instantly.

Gin defended.

Countered.

Adapted.

But now he was fighting a completely different opponent.

Lee Kung attacked with overwhelming precision.

A kick.

A punch.

A sweep.

A feint.

Gin managed to survive each one.

Barely.

The crowd watched in stunned silence.

The gap had become obvious.

Yet strangely...

Gin kept smiling.

Even while losing.

Even while being overwhelmed.

He seemed happy.

Almost relieved.

Finally Lee Kung landed a clean strike.

Gin fell.

The arena became silent.

The referee began counting.

"One!"

Gin tried to stand.

"Two!"

His legs trembled.

"Three!"

He rose halfway.

"Four!"

Then collapsed again.

The referee raised his hand.

"WINNER OF THE TOURNAMENT!"

The arena exploded.

"LEE KUNG!"

"LEE KUNG!"

"LEE KUNG!"

Cheers echoed from every direction.

Mia hugged Sio Jun.

Students celebrated wildly.

Lee Kung walked toward his fallen opponent.

Then stretched out his hand.

Gin stared at it.

For a moment he didn't move.

Then he accepted.

Lee Kung pulled him to his feet.

The crowd applauded.

Respect recognizing respect.

Gin looked at him carefully.

Then smiled.

"So that's you at your peak strength?"

Lee Kung laughed.

"Yeah."

He rubbed the back of his head.

"What can I say?"

Gin stared at him.

Lee Kung continued.

"I've been holding back."

Gin raised an eyebrow.

"Oh really?"

Lee Kung nodded.

"I had to use everything."

A complete lie.

Five percent.

That was all.

But Gin didn't need to know that.

"Dude," Lee Kung said with a grin, "you're actually really strong."

Gin laughed.

For the first time all evening his smile looked completely genuine.

The crowd continued celebrating around them.

Yet neither boy noticed.

Because for a brief moment, both were studying each other.

Trying to understand something neither could explain.

Lee Kung still felt that strange familiarity.

That impossible connection.

Like destiny kept nudging him toward Gin.

And deep inside...

A feeling told him this tournament had never really been about winning.

It had been about meeting the person standing in front of him.

The person connected somehow to the mysteries surrounding the Realms.

The person who might change everything.

Neither of them knew it yet.

But their real battle had not happened tonight.

Their real story was only beginning.
