Chapter 82 - Chapter 081: Tension Beneath the Clouds (2)

"Bee-sama, he…"

A Kumogakure ninja hesitated, worry written across his face.

Mabui, standing composed beside him, replied evenly, "Bee-sama can distinguish what counts as a necessary mission. He wouldn't lie to the Raikage."

The Fourth Raikage gave a brief nod. "Don't worry about Bee. He's just a little irritated."

Then he turned toward the intelligence officer. "Continue gathering information on Konoha's current strength—especially the Uchiha clan. I want every detail about their special powers."

"Yes, Raikage-sama!"

The next morning, sunlight scattered across the valley's ridges.

The three emissaries of Konoha stood before the great gates of Kumogakure Village once again.

*Boom!*

A sudden volley of lightning-imbued fireworks burst in the air, filling the sky with streaks of blue and gold.

Kakashi flinched, a bead of sweat forming under his headband. "That startled me. I almost pulled a kunai."

Yun chuckled softly and waved at the cheering crowd. "Kumogakure isn't foolish enough to attack us here."

Kakashi exhaled and straightened, putting on his diplomatic smile. Beside him, Might Guy had already gone far beyond "diplomatic".

"Hahaha! I never thought I'd be so popular!" he shouted, bowing repeatedly as people clapped and cheered. "Friends of Kumogakure! I am the proud Blue Beast of Konoha—Might Guy!"

He raised both fists to the sky, his voice booming. "Your welcome burns with the spirit of youth! Youth should be this passionate! Thank you! Thank you!"

He began bowing in all directions, to the point even Kakashi's eyelid twitched in resignation.

'He really does get into character faster than anyone.' Kakashi thought dryly.

Yun stood silently beside them, scanning the crowd.

Their smiles were genuine—ordinary citizens, happy for the promise of peace.

'For people at the bottom,' Yun thought, 'an era without war is the best gift imaginable. It's the leaders—the ones who've tasted loss—who cling to their hatred. They're the ones who can't accept peace because it denies them vengeance.'

His eyes flicked toward a few faces in the crowd where smiles were thin and eyes were cold. Those belonged to the ones who had lost someone to Konoha. To them, this alliance was nothing but betrayal.

From the village gates up to the long avenue beneath the Raikage Building, banners hung between the high cliffs. On the raised platform, Kakashi, acting as Konoha's envoy, presented the scroll of alliance to the Raikage.

The Fourth Raikage pressed his seal to it without hesitation.

A wave of thunderous cheering rolled through the street. Kumogakure had allied with Konoha—peace, it seemed, would continue.

Kakashi exhaled in relief. "Thank goodness… I might've been overthinking."

'Once the Kumogakure envoy returns our visit to Konoha,' he thought, 'it'll all be over.'

But the Raikage's voice interrupted that optimism. "Next, to show our sincerity, I ask that you remain in Kumogakure for two more days. Bee also wishes to spar with Uchiha Yun again—to see if he has regressed."

Kakashi hesitated. "The village has been busy lately. We'd prefer to—"

"Hmm?"

The Raikage's glare was enough to silence him. "Is that Konoha's attitude toward an alliance? This is diplomacy between two nations, brat of the White Fang's line!"

Kakashi sighed inwardly and nodded. "Understood."

Yun, who had been silent, only smiled faintly.

'Perhaps if the heads of every militant faction were twisted off their shoulders, peace wouldn't be impossible after all.'

Unraikyō Gorge.

The view stretched forever—rolling clouds beneath their feet, peaks piercing the sky like spears of steel. Despite Kumogakure's harsh terrain, it was breathtaking from this height.

Yun stood on the edge, the mist swirling around his boots. It really did feel like walking on clouds.

Killer Bee, nearby, shuffled in excitement. "Isn't it great? Feels like flying! This floating vibe! Don't tell me you're scared, yeah!"

Yun smirked. "I'm not afraid of heights."

Bee stopped mid-rhyme and dropped onto a rock beside him. "Then what about a fight? Let's see if you've grown."

Yun smiled. "If we don't fight, your brother won't let us leave."

"??!"

Bee blinked, eyes narrowing. "You've already sensed something?"

Yun didn't answer. Instead, he stood, unsheathing his blade. "Last time, neither of us went all out. A perfect Eight-Tails Jinchūriki—let's see if I can actually win this time."

Bee grinned, raising a fist. "Then come on, fool, ya fool!"

But Yun didn't meet his fist. "You know I don't play that. There are too many secrets in my head, and right now, our positions aren't exactly the same."

"Fine by me!" Bee's grin widened.

As his words fell, the tomoe in Yun's eyes twisted, reshaping into the spinning pattern of the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Flames erupted along the edge of his blade.

*Whoosh!*

In the blink of an eye, Yun vanished—then reappeared behind Bee, his flaming sword slicing downward.

"Fast!"

Eight red chakra tails burst from Bee's back, intercepting the strike. The tails clashed with the flame, scattering sparks into the mist.

"You're a bit too careless, aren't you?"

Before the words finished, Yun had already slipped through the cloud of fire, appearing at Bee's side. His blade swept horizontally—whoosh!—and a bright arc of heat tore through the air.

Bee countered, but not fast enough. A deep burn mark opened across his shoulder.

*Hiss!*

The wound sealed instantly under the Eight-Tails' chakra. The steam rose in wisps.

'Jinchuriki recovery… terrifying as always.' Yun thought, sidestepping the snapping chakra tails that followed.

His eyes narrowed. "Genjutsu ∙ Sharingan!"

For a fraction of a second, Bee's world turned black. Whispering voices rose from the darkness—taunts, echoes, and half-forgotten curses.

"Bee, snap out of it!" the Eight-Tails' voice thundered inside his mind. Chakra surged wildly, shattering the illusion in a heartbeat.

But that single heartbeat was all Yun needed.

*Puff!*

Blood burst across Bee's chest, a deep slash tearing through muscle.

"Bee!!!" The Eight-Tails roared in alarm.

Bee staggered backward, clutching the wound. "He's fast… too fast." the beast growled within him. "When you broke the illusion, he was already at your chest."

Bee's jaw tightened. "Then another form, yeah!"

*Boom!!!*

The air exploded with pressure as chakra surged from every pore. Clouds rolled outward in waves, scattering under the force.

When the haze cleared, Bee's figure had changed—part human, part beast, bull horns curving forward, skin glowing crimson under the Eight-Tails' chakra shroud.

*ROAR!!!*

The sound split the gorge. Rocks trembled. Yun frowned, gripping his sword. "No need to be so loud. I know you've unleashed your big move."

He watched as the storm of chakra stabilized around Bee. "To maintain consciousness in a half–Tailed Beast transformation… this power really does surpass most Jinchūriki."
