Chapter 4 - First encounter

Tim was waiting at the airport when he texted Meesha not to wait for him. It might get dark, so better go to bed.

Meesha realizes she has been here for a while but has not had a chance to see the entire house. She walks around the house as if she were looking for a home to buy.

She makes her way downstairs, looking around. "Who decided to paint the house's walls gray and white," she wonders.

It's a good choice but seems ordinary. "How typical," Meesha remarks, "for a superstar to live in such a dull place."

"Well, my home is even more boring, so I guess I am in no position to point it out," Meesha chuckles.

Meesha is staring at the ceiling while perched on the couch in a living room. Her attention is drawn to the text notification on her phone. It's from Tim. However, she does not know the password to her own phone.

She tries her old password from 2024; it does not work. "What could be the password?" Before she could try another password, she noticed it had a face lock.

"It worked," Meesha exclaims, raising a triumphant fist.

She tries to open the app, "Whaaaat, it has an app lock; why did I need so many locks? What am I?" Dramatically, Meesha says, "An undercover agent or something."

Fortunately, she did not have to stress over it too much. Her face worked.

"Do not wait. It will get dark," reads Meesha. She is in a pickle again. Meesha has no idea how to respond to Tim's text message. Is she supposed to say "okay" or to ask him, "Why?"

Meesha scratches her head, deep in thought. She leaned back on the couch, unable to think of what to say.

"She left my message on seen," Tim mutters, barely letting any sound escape from his mask. Then suddenly a text popped up. Meesha answered, "SAFE JOURNEY," with a smiley face.

Tim's heart fluttered. It is something that Meesha would never say. "It was not Meesha who answered," Tim pondered. He considers whether he should make a call.

He remembers whether she is still upset and wants to annoy him. His mother, who witnessed Meesha's strange behavior, mentioned it in her messages to Tim.

Justin notices his confusion and asks, "Are you worried about Meesha?"

Tim refuses.

"If you do not want to share, that is your decision." Justin insists, "She will understand but I would advise you to give her some time."

**********

It is past eleven when Tim gets home. He enters in silence. His mom was still awake, waiting for him while reading her favorite book 'Watch Out'.

"It is quite late. Go take a shower, and I will heat the food," Mom suggests in a low voice.

Telling his mother that he has had his dinner, Tim hugs her and asks her to go to bed.

"Good night," says Tim heading upstairs.

In order not to wake Meesha, he softly opens the door. It is completely dark in the room. He takes very careful steps to avoid tripping over anything.

Tim turns on a low lamp. Meesha is asleep.

He realized it had been a long time since he had seen Meesha sleep so peacefully. He squats down and stares at her face.

Tim was still in awe of his beautiful wife, when she caught him off guard opening her eyes. Meesha took a little or maybe a little too long to realize that it's Tim, and the next moment she freaked out, clutching the blanket tightly.

Tim didn't flinch as if he were familiar with Meesha's habit to freak out from time to time. Tim gently places his finger on her lips and whispers, "Relax, it's me, Tim."

Meesha sits up and asks, "Why were you looking at me like that?"

"Nothing. I'm going to take a shower."

While Meesha was still taken aback by Tim's sudden appearance, she couldn't believe it was happening to her. The whole day she convinced herself that it was her dream and would be over any moment. But with the present scenario, it has begun to feel real.

"Go back to sleep," Tim said, taking his clothes from the closet.

Meesha thought it would be better to talk to him about her time travel. If he were to believe her, she is not sure.

"I need to talk to you," says Meesha softly, as she moves out of the bed. Tim asks her to go on, he's listening.

"Ahmm.....I think I traveled through time," murmurs Meesha fiddling with her ring.

"You, What?" Tim asks inquisitively. He recalls that she has blurted similar things before. She frequently experiments with playing out the characters in her novels.

When she was writing about a female stalker, she stalked Tim all day. She even got herself arrested. All these incidents compelled Tim to push her towards the bed and ask her to speak later.

He rushes into the bathroom and locks the door. Meesha stands outside, yelling at him to come out; she has a lot to tell him. He opens the door, shirtless, and tells Meesha to stop talking or he will pull her in.

Before she could cover her eyes, Meesha glanced at him. She rushes to her bed. "Oh my eyes, cries Meesha, covering her eyes; how could he do this to me?"

She remembers that she is currently his wife, and he is still unaware of the situation. She considers fleeing, but she is unsure where she will go.

"I'll flee tomorrow. Let's just get through this day and hopefully I might go back where I came from," Meesha says before falling asleep again.
