Chapter 110 - About the World Heritage Site, Place Stanislas

Place Stanislas, located in the city of Nancy in France's Lorraine region, was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.

It was commissioned by Stanislas, Duke of Lorraine.

The square is surrounded by the Nancy Museum of Fine Arts and a triumphal arch, among other buildings.

Note that the "triumphal arch" here is not the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris, but a different one.

There are multiple triumphal arches in France.

The Arc de Triomphe at Étoile is so famous that many people have come to think of "Arc de Triomphe" as a proper noun.

For a similar reason, there are multiple cathedrals called Notre-Dame.

The most famous is probably Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

The historic fire in 2019 is still fresh in everyone's memory.

While Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris was closed to tourists due to fire damage and the COVID-19 pandemic, a VR sightseeing system was made freely available starting September 11, 2020.
