The characters kept changing shape. There were many different kinds. Maybe it was testing whether I could read them by cycling through multiple languages?
"Hmm. Is that the alphabet 'C'? Or the hiragana 'く'? I see some similar-looking characters here and there, but… nope. I can't read any of it."
As expected, even the language cheat from my isekai transfer didn't work on the writing system of an alien civilization.

Suddenly, a strange sound came from somewhere. It wasn't exactly a voice, and it was hard to transcribe — some kind of mysterious tone. It reminded me of the highest-pitched beep during a hearing test. I could tell something was making a noise, but I couldn't really understand it.
