Chapter 227: The Beautiful Assassin
The few people who had been watching were stunned by this sudden turn of events. Their balls tightened… This made no sense. Wasn't Scarface dominating just moments ago? Zhang Yang was almost beaten into a corner with nowhere to hide!
How did he suddenly get pinned to the ground like a dead dog, only needing a gentle squeeze to die?
"Little bastard, playing dirty?" Scarface, though restrained on the ground, had no intention of admitting defeat. Instead, he struggled to get up.
Zhang Yang didn't bother talking. He slammed his knee down hard, almost driving Scarface's sternum into his organs.
Then he tightened his grip on Scarface's throat, nearly choking the life out of him. Scarface could only stretch his neck and twist his head desperately, veins bulging like trapped venomous snakes as his ugly face turned red. He couldn't say another word.
"Want to die? Easy." Zhang Yang replied coldly, but his eyes never left the short guy and the woman. He couldn't afford even one mistake.
The short guy was obviously the leader—his decision meant everything. And the woman, since she entered the assassin trade, clearly had extraordinary courage and skill. These two were the biggest threats. In this situation, they had the upper hand and could kill him instantly if he slipped. Zhang Yang had to stay hyper-focused.
"Release Old Six." After a moment of silence, the short guy spoke in a low, calm voice. "We can choose not to kill you today."
"You think I'm an idiot?" Zhang Yang tightened his hold, lifting Scarface completely off the ground. Scarface was shorter than him, so this wasn't difficult. It also gave Zhang Yang room to watch the other three.
With his back against the wall, he retreated slowly—he had calculated earlier.
From here back to the alley entrance was only about thirty meters. Using Scarface as a shield, the others would hesitate to make a move.
But after just a few steps, the tall man beside the short guy moved, overtaking Zhang Yang and blocking his escape route.
Zhang Yang's focus slipped for half a second. Scarface seized the chance to suck in a breath and shouted, "Fourth Brother, forget me! Kill him!"
Fourth Brother glanced at him, then at Zhang Yang. A cold glint flashed in his eyes. "Good courage, Old Six. Don't worry—I won't let your death be in vain."
Then he pulled off his mask.
His face was pale, his nose slightly collapsed, and one corner of his lip was split—likely an old injury. His eyes were sharp and murderous, making for a strangely unsettling combination.
The tall guy blocking Zhang Yang's path also removed his mask. His face was ordinary.
But his lips were very thick, and within seconds, a gun appeared in his hand. So he was one of the gunners.
The woman removed her mask next.
Zhang Yang froze for a moment. Damn… killers could be this beautiful? She looked only in her early twenties, but her features were stunning.
Cherry lips, oval face, delicate nose, snow-white skin, and long legs—she was a natural beauty.
Only her eyes—beautiful yet icy—looked at Zhang Yang like frozen blades. Probably only Yang Fei when angry could match that.
Of course, she wasn't as beautiful as Yang Fei, but she was definitely on Lulu's level. Such a gorgeous girl becoming an assassin… what a waste.
But Zhang Yang wasn't the type to get horny and lose his brain. Right now, it was life and death. Among the four, the person he worried about most was this terrifyingly beautiful female assassin.
Seeing the small throwing dart—two fingers wide—in her hand, he guessed she was the dart expert mentioned by the system. He'd seen things like this in dramas, but never in real life. The cold gleam alone screamed poison.
That meant the short guy—Fourth Brother—was the second gunman.
So the situation was clear: of the four, he'd restrained the physically strongest one, but the remaining three had the most direct killing weapons and wouldn't let him close.
In other words, their hand-to-hand ability probably wasn't great—certainly not as strong as Scarface. So if he killed Scarface first and then closed the distance, he might have a sliver of hope.
"Zhang Yang." Fourth Brother smiled strangely after seeing the tall man block the exit. "Shall we make a deal?"
"What deal?" Zhang Yang glanced sideways at the tall gunman, feeling despair. These killers didn't even allow a retreat path.
Fourth Brother raised his wrist, showing his watch. "In five minutes, my men will reach the PSH Commerce Center to find your two pretty sisters-in-law. With their skills, five minutes is more than enough…"
"Fuck your mother! Are you even human? Come for me—leave innocent girls out of this! You animals!" Zhang Yang felt his chest tighten like a boulder was crushing it. These bastards had been watching him the whole time—worst of all, they targeted Dantong and Danying.
His eyes filled with murderous rage as he tightened his grip on Scarface. "If I survive today, I'll kill every last one of you Spade Eight bastards."
"That depends on whether you live long enough." Fourth Brother said calmly. "As assassins, we have only one goal—kill the target. Method does not matter."
He smiled lightly.
"Then what the hell do you want to talk about?" Zhang Yang growled, voice twisting.
"Simple. Release Old Six. Then choose—either you die, or your two sisters-in-law die." Fourth Brother brushed dust off his coat. "To be frank, the four men I sent after them are recently released rapists. I'm sure they'll be very interested in your pretty girls… Or you can kill us now and try saving them instead."
"Alright…" Zhang Yang exhaled slowly, staring at Fourth Brother.
"Alright what?" Fourth Brother paused.
"Alright your fucking mother—" Before he even finished, Zhang Yang moved. His body tensed like a drawn bow, and he squeezed hard.
A sharp crack rang out—Zhang Yang crushed Scarface's throat, then chopped hard at it, shoving his whole body at the tall gunman.
Using the momentum, Zhang Yang shot forward like a cannonball toward Fourth Brother—because the beautiful assassin, holding darts, wouldn't dare throw when her leader was in the way.
If he tangled with Fourth Brother—or grabbed him—the other two would hesitate.
The first step succeeded. Scarface's corpse hit the tall gunman, staggering him. He didn't even have time to shout or lower himself to check on Scarface.
Zhang Yang was already closing in on Fourth Brother.
But unexpectedly, Fourth Brother struck first. A simple, technique-less punch landed straight on Zhang Yang's shoulder.
The speed and accuracy shocked Zhang Yang—it was too fast to react.
His body arched back uncontrollably—but he knew distancing himself meant certain death. Summoning strength from nowhere, he forced himself to stop after a few steps and kicked upward at Fourth Brother's chin.
Fourth Brother hadn't expected Zhang Yang to counterattack, and though he dodged sideways, he was still hit.
Meanwhile, the female assassin moved.
She didn't throw her dart—Fourth Brother blocked her line of sight. But to Zhang Yang's frustration, her physical skills were terrifying as well. The moment he hit Fourth Brother, her boot swept into his ribs.
Even though it wasn't a full hit—just a graze—the pain twisted his insides. But he had no time to care. After taking the blow, he rolled on the ground like a mangy dog, sliding to her feet. Her long, tight legs flashed before him—he didn't think, he just grabbed and executed a takedown.
She clearly didn't expect such a shameless move. Caught off guard, she fell backward heavily, head slamming into the ground, instantly knocked out.
Seeing she wasn't moving, Zhang Yang ignored her and lunged at Fourth Brother. Only now did he realize the short guy wasn't just a gunman—he was also a combat expert. Before Zhang Yang even reached him, a gun with a suppressor was already in his hand—the speed was unbelievable.
"Go to hell with them!" Fourth Brother looked at the unconscious beauty and the dead Scarface, pain flashing in his eyes. Then he pointed the gun at Zhang Yang and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
