She stared at the phone, deep in thought, when all of a sudden she realized something and gasped out loud.
She remembered reading a novel in which the female lead had the same name as hers. She had transmigrated into a horror world—a place where ghosts and paranormal creatures ruled. The name of the country she had transmigrated to was also the same. The description of the female lead's looks matched hers perfectly: green eyes, long hair, an otherworldly face and aura. And most importantly—a weak human.
She was alarmed by this realization. To her horror, she had become the female lead of that horror world—the one who unfortunately met a bad ending.
Finally, she decided to go to the place where she was called to meet. But there was a problem: humans were not allowed to roam after dark. Doing so would result in guaranteed death.
Oh no.
She had somehow become the protagonist of a horror novel she'd read—a story without a happy ending. She was now trapped in a terrifying world, surrounded by ghosts and paranormal creatures, and she was the weak human character destined for a dire fate. Her mind raced with memories of the novel, recalling the gruesome events that unfolded. A sense of dread and hopelessness washed over her. She was living a story that had already been written.
Could she change the course of events? Or was she doomed to follow the same path as the character in the novel?
Her heart pounded with fear as she pondered her next move. The stakes were higher than ever. She knew she needed to get to the meeting point, but the human curfew was strict. Venturing out after dark meant certain death. She felt trapped and anxious, desperate to defy the odds.
As she weighed her options, she heard a faint whisper in her ear: "Use the mirror."
Suddenly, the mirror on her bedside table began to glow. A strange energy pulsed from it. Could this be her ticket to escaping the curfew and making it to the meeting point alive? Or was it a trap—one that would lead her further into the heart of darkness?
She looked at the glow and decisively reached out to the mirror, hoping to escape this horrible world. But what happened next made her wish she were dead.
The moment her hand touched the mirror's surface, the glow enveloped her. She felt a strange sensation—like being pulled apart and put back together again. When the light faded, she found herself on the other side of the mirror, in a dark and foreboding forest.
But something was terribly wrong.
Her body felt twisted and contorted. She realized with horror that she had been transformed into a grotesque creature—no longer human. The mirror's magic had warped and distorted her, trapping her in this monstrous form.
Then she heard it: eerie laughter echoing through the forest. She knew she wasn't alone. The creatures of this world were closing in.
The laughter grew louder. Suddenly, she felt as though someone was standing right behind her.
She turned around.
An old man stood there, smiling at her.
His smile sent chills down her spine. His eyes gleamed with a knowing intensity, and his presence filled the air with an unsettling energy. She tried to speak, but her voice was barely a whisper, trapped in her twisted throat. The old man's gaze lingered on her distorted form, and he nodded as if in approval.
"Welcome, traveler," he said in a low, gravelly voice. "I have been waiting for you. You have entered this world uninvited. But since you are here, you might as well play by our rules." He paused, his smile widening. "Come. Let us begin your initiation."
"What rules are you talking about?" she demanded, anger creeping into her voice. "And how can I come here by mistake? Can't I just go back?"
The old man chuckled, his smile broadening even further. "You're feisty, huh?" he murmured. Then, more seriously: "You can't go back just like that. To return, you must complete a mission. And this mission will decide whether you go back… or die."
Her expression twisted into terror. This was not what she had expected.
"What is the mission?" she asked in a low voice.
The old man's expression shifted to one of pure amusement—as if he was having far too much fun.
"Make the Vampire King of this world fall in love with you. Marry him. Become his queen. And rule the world by his side."
Her eyes widened in horror. Goosebumps spread across her skin at the very thought.
"WHAT?!" she shouted.
The old man's words hung in the air like a death sentence. Her mind raced with the impossibility of the task, the terror of being trapped in this dark world.
"Make the Vampire King fall in love with me?" she repeated, her voice trembling with disbelief and horror.
The old man's grin widened, as if savoring her distress.
"Yes, my dear. You must win the heart of the most powerful and feared creature in this world. And if you fail…" He paused, letting the implication hang ominously. "Well, let us just say that your stay here will be… permanent."
Her heart raced with fear. Her mind scrambled to find a way out of this impossible task.
She swallowed hard and asked nervously, "Is there really no other way?"
