Chapter 1: The Sun Burns Brightly, Even After Death!
Escanor didn't know when he regained consciousness; no, that wasn't right. He didn't so much as open his eyes, rather he suddenly became aware of his surroundings. And what strange surroundings they were…
Glancing around, Escanor took in the view…well it wasn't so much a view as an ever-expanding plane of still, and judging how his feet were planted upon it, solid water. That in turn brings about the next issue…he was see-through.
His countless battles and odd experiences with his dear friends didn't help him in this moment, as he yelped in surprise.
He calmed down a moment later, simply coming to terms with his current circumstances, and thus his mind wandered to his most recent memories. Escanor touched his lips with an ethereal hand as he recalled the kiss Merlin had given him before the last of his life burned away under the weight of the Grace of Sunshine.
Escanor sighed slightly, "I guess my life ended then…" Escanor gave a soft, fond snort, as he remembered everything that led up to his end. "Mr. Mael was correct; wielding Sunshine once more truly spelled my end. It was a worthy end. I mean after all, I saved my dear friends and Britania, didn't we?"
"Indeed."
Escanor froze as a voice, deep and somehow melodic, echoed out in this seemingly endless plane. "Did they just read my thoughts?" Escanor wondered.
"Yes." The voice resounded once more, proving Escanor's theory correct while simultaneously answering his question.
"Well okay then." Escanor said aloud, excepting this as a fact.
"You are very calm." The voice noted, sounding slightly surprised, receiving not but a simple nod from Escanor in response. "I see," the voice continued, "I can see why she chose you."
Escanor simply tilted his head, making note of how the voice phrased that before he decided to speak up. "May I know what is happening, and why I am here?" He asked.
The voice hummed slightly, causing soft, small ripples in the tranquil water beneath Escanor's feet. "I am the Lady of The Lake, I speak for the Mother of Chaos, and she has chosen you to continue the legacy of her children in a new place, a new world, free from her influence." The Lady of The Lake said, her voice soft and kind.
She continued, "You will be reborn and the mighty powers of the Children of Chaos will be yours to use as you see fit. However," The lady of The Lake paused, as if she was examining him before she began once more, "While your soul is mighty indeed, especially for one who has only ever been a mortal, it will take time before all of their powers will be accessible to you. However, your new body and soul will be able to make use of one of the many abilities that you will be receiving to its fullest at the beginning."
She paused once more, for longer this time, as if she was listening to something or someone. "It seems that my lady intends for you to have full access to all the knowledge and experience its previous owner had pertaining to this ability, to be given to you as well."
Escanor looked down for a moment, processing all this new information, before raising his head once more. "May I know what this ability is and from whom these powers are coming from? I must admit that I don't know who you could be talking about Miss."
"Of course, Oh Pure and Prideful soul." The Lady of The Lake said to him softly. "Let me first answer your second question. The powers and legacy that you will be inheriting are those of Chaos's children, The Great Fairy Tree, The Supreme Deity, and the Demon King." She said, as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
Escanor froze. The powers of the Great Tree, the Supreme Deity, and the Demon King?! But how?! Why?! What could Escanor have done to be given this? Then something else occurred to him…they must have done it. The power of the Demon King wasn't the biggest shock, after all Escanor had helped defeat him, but the Supreme Deity and the Fairy Tree? How could that have happened? Escanor was struck by another realization. That must mean the power is…
"Indeed, young Escanor," The Lady of The Lake said, pulling Escanor from his thoughts. "The power of Sunshine will once again be yours, but this time you shall have a body that can handle it, along with all the mastery that young Mael achieved with it." The Lady of The lake finished.
Escanor was silent for a while, and it seems that The lady of The Lake was content to let him process the situation. At last, Escanor raised his head to the sky, "Why me?" Escanor asked simply.
The response was immediate. "Because my lady sees who you are, who you've been, and all that you can be, and she judges you worthy. She knows that you are the right choice, and she has made her decision, and that is enough for both her and me."
Escanor once more returns to silence, thinking about what is happening to him and all that already has. When the faces of his friends appeared within his mind once more his resolve hardened. Looking up he spoke, "I accept. I have but one request, I wish to know that my friends are okay."
Escanor couldn't see her face, what with her being a disembodied voice and all, but he had a feeling that she was smiling. "Of course, young Escanor. Even while in a situation as strange as this, you still think of your friends. Proof that my lady chose correctly." And with that said, images–no, memories–appeared in Escanor's mind. He saw everything, the marriages between Meliodas and Elizabeth, Ban's wedding with Elaine, King's Marriage to Diane, hell he even saw their kids, but most of all, Escanor saw her, Merlin.
Merlin was squirreled away in her lab, embroiled in another of her experiments. Escanor saw her rubbing the bottom of her chin and mouth where a scar adorned her face. A burn scar, Escanor realized, from where she had kissed him…
Knowing just how skilled the princess is, and how skilled Merlin herself was, Escanor knew that it could have been healed, but instead, she kept it.
Escanor could feel the tears sliding down his cheeks, but he paid them no mind, instead he turned his gaze to the sky. "Thank you." He stated quietly.
"Of course." The lady of The Lake stated simply, her voice soft and full of sympathy. "You will be reincarnated in a world far from the land that you knew. In this world, a kind and powerful being, not unlike the Supreme Deity sacrificed his life to save a world that would never know it, leaving behind his kingdom and his children. While other gods and their Pantheons still persist in the world, you should be alright with the power of Sunshine. You, young Escanor, will be reborn as something like the members of the Goddess Clan. Live your new life as you see fit, but always remember who you are…in your soul."
And with that, Escanor's vision went black.
Chapter 2: Did I Just Hatch From An Egg?
{Escanor POV}
Escanor slowly opened his eyes, expecting to see something, but all he saw was darkness.
Am I…underground? Escanor asked himself, looking from left to right.
"Not quite, little lion." A voice said in his head, immediately catching his attention.
"Is that you, Lady of The Lake?" Escanor asked aloud, hoping that the ancient entity could hear him.
"Yes, it's me, little lion," The voice of the Lady of The Lake reassured him. "Although, for simplicity's sake, you may refer to me as Nimue." The now named Nimue finished.
Escanor nodded. "May I ask why you are here?" he asked.
"Why of course," She said. " I will be with you throughout your new life, mainly to aid you in incorporating the powers you have been granted. As I stated previously, you currently only have access to Sunshine, as that is the one that you are most familiar with." She told him. I nodded along, that seemed fair, after all I had an entire lifetime to accustom myself to Sunshine. "The other abilities and the knowledge to use them will be granted to you at a later date." She continued, to which I nodded once more.
"I'm actually in the middle of setting up that system," Nimue added. "So I shall finish that up and get back to you once I'm done. I'd suggest figuring out where it is you are."
"Sound logic, Lady Nimue." I said, which got me a giggle in response. As I felt her preseance retreat further into the depths of my mind, I drew on the power of Sunshine, creating a small orb of fire above my hand so as to get some light.
Looking around at my surroundings, I seemed to be trapped within some kind of large round oval. Honestly, it looked like an egg, but I dismissed that thought, after all why would I be in an egg? Placing my hand on the surface of my little prison I felt the brittle material give way under my searching fingers slightly, making a cracking sound.
I recoiled, blinking rapidly at the small crack the slight amount of force put into my prison a suspicion dawned on me, causing me to crack a small, disbelieving smile. There is no way that I've been trapped in an egg right? I thought.
Deciding to get this over with, I clenched my small hand into a fist before pulling back my arm to punch a hole into what I think is an egg. Shooting my fist forward, a thought occurs to me and it isn't until my fist and the force I'd put into it completely shatters the shell, allowing sunlight to fall gently onto my face that I make another realization…I'm kind of tiny.
Looking down at myself in the, what I think is dawn light, I realize that my body seems to be that of a young boy with pearly white hair and white, almost porcelain skin. I don't exactly have a mirror on hand so I can't exactly see what my face or eyes look like.
After coming to terms with the fact that I am a child once again, I take a closer look at my surroundings. I seem to be in a…nest? Yeah, I think this is a nest, it is made of thatch and sticks packed together into a circular shape. The nest was surrounded by thick branches on all sides, so I assumed that I was high up in a massive tree.
On the other side of the nest, there seemed to be a large pile of autumn leaves, reds, golds, and auburn colors swaying slightly in the light, gentle breeze. At least, I thought they were leaves, that is, until they yawned. They began shifting, revealing two long legs, a pair of bright almost fire-looking wings, a rather large body, and a long slender neck with an avian, eagle-like head. A golden beak that ended in a sharp point that looked able to easily tear through any Holy Knights armor.
Slowly, almost lazily, one of the creature's bright, beautiful crimson eyes opened. As soon as the creature noticed Escanor and the broken egg behind him, its eyes shimmered and it rose to its feet, towering over the young boy. Escanor looked back at it, no fear within him, as he got ready for battle. After all, Escanor has faced far scarier things than this large, and admittedly beautiful bird, it couldn't compare to the likes of the Demon King.
It slowly lowered its head, bringing Escanor back to the present, rearing his fist back to strike, but then he paused. The creature had stopped a few feet from him, looking at him with warm crimson eyes full of curiosity and…love?
I glanced back at the egg that I seemingly hatched from, and then looked once more at the beautiful creature before me. "Are you my mother?" I asked it, my hands lowering.
It pulled its beak back into something resembling a smile. "Yes," It said, making me blink at the soft, feminine voice that spoke into my mind. "It would seem that I am."
"Huh," I said intelligently. "I went through much in my last life, and I must say that this is a rather…interesting situation." I flopped onto my but, and laid my head back. "I'm so confused."
A soft, tinkling laugh was heard, making me glance back at my…mother? Yeah, I guess she's my mother, now. Ban and the Captain would have a field day with this…
I smiled both fondly and sadly at that thought, imagining how much those fools would laugh. Hell, I'd probably join them.
{Ariana's POV}
I looked down fondly at the small white haired child curled up against me, my child. The boy was an interesting one, although I fully knew that he would be something when the egg he came from was massive, but this was honestly surprising.
I brushed his hair to the side of his face with my hand, the boy not even stirring at my action. While the boy had been surprised when I changed into my human form, he didn't seem to overly mind it, or find it surprising. In fact, the cheeky little boy just shrugged, drank in my nude form, called me beautiful, and then just sat down! I mean can you believe that!? I've been compared with my old friend Tiamat in terms of beauty!
Not that I'd want my son to lust after me. I mean he is rather handso– nope! Not going there! I sighed.
Putting aside how handsome a newborn boy who already looks about eight years old, what is up with his power!? It's practically erupting from him and it only seems to be growing, well not anymore. After his aura of power continued to grow it seemed to cap at noon, growing to obscene levels for only a minute until it returned to how it was before and then began decreasing.
Huh, I glanced up from my son's face and into the sky, more particularly at the slowly setting sun. His power seems to follow the sun's movement across the sky…interesting. I shook my head, it's not like it matters. I looked back down at my son's face, smiling gently. He's so perfect…
I then turned my attention back to the matter of his power, or more precisely, his energy. It was Holy energy, rather than my elemental energy. Like the energy that the Angels generated, but somehow not. It felt…older. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or not. What gives credence to that fact are the two pearly white wings on his back.
…I'm so glad I have barriers up. If I didn't, then everyone remotely close to my nest would come to find out what was happening.
Well, I can always ask him when he wakes up. He seemed like an honest boy, I'm sure he'd tell me if I asked, and if he doesn't? Oh well, I'm not going to force him.
Oh shit, he doesn't have a name! How could I have not thought about that?! I'm a terrible mom.
My eyes once again drifted towards those pearly white wings, so much like an angel. Didn't old Yahweh always end his kids' names with 'el'?
Hmm…
Oh! I've got it! How about Mael! After all, he's mama's boy. Yeah, that's a perfect name.
I glanced back down at Mael's sleeping form. "Goodnight Mael, my little angel." I kissed his forehead softly before laying down, shifting into my Phoenix form, and then curling up around the softly snoring form of my son.
Chapter 3: A New World, A New Life
{Escanor POV}
When I woke up, I felt myself surrounded by a comforting warmth, like a blanket. I hummed softly in contentment before I snapped my eyes open when I felt a warm breath brush across my face.
The first thing that greeted me when I woke up was the head of my mother in what she called her Phoenix form. The second thing I noticed was the text floating in front of me.
Welcome To The System!
I blinked. Lady Nimue? Is this the 'thing' that you were working on? It took a few moments before I got a response to my mental question.
"Good morning to you too, little lion," came the goddesses(?) response. "No Escanor, I'm not a goddess, but I am something similar." Okay, that answers that. I guess she can hear my thoughts too, that's good, it should make communication easier. "Always the practical one, aren't you, little lion? But yes, this is my doing. What you see before you is what I call The System, I have based it off of the, frankly ingenious, work of a being calling himself The Architect. It is something of a training regimen or introduction into using the abilities of a higher power. The System itself is powered by the power of those beings and then used to steadily grant that power to the Player. Think of it like a game." Lady Nimue explained.
Thinking it over to myself while I gently ran my hands through my mother's feathers, the only thing I could think of was; that is ingenious, Lady Merlin would probably love to talk shop with this 'Architect'.
I heard a soft chuckle in my mind. "Yes, I'm sure she would. Little Merlin always loved the intricacies and many different facets of magic." Lady Nimue's words brought a fond, sad smile to my face.
"Okay, enough of the mopey feelings." Lady Nimue said, once more drawing my attention. "Let's begin. I want you to think of the word 'status'." I raised a brow at the instructions, but obeyed.
Status.
Immediately, a glowing panel appeared in front of me, constantly shifting between three colors. A soft pearly white, a deep serene green, and a dark and menacing purple. The panel itself seemed to have a detailed list of what appeared to be my information.
Name: Mael(Escanor)
Race: Primordial Goddess(Goddess Clan), Primordial Demon, Primordial Faerie
Title: The Will of Chaos, The Lion Sin of Pride
Level: 1
Power Level: 12,000 (2,000)
HP:100%/100%
MP:100%/100%
SP:100%/100%
Abilities:
The Grace of Sunshine
Ark
Goddess Clan Arts
Soul Sight
Eye of Gods
Fire Elemental Magic(Inherited from Araiana, The First Flame)
Escanor blinked several times, and then re-read the status, his status. There was, currently, only one thing that came to mind. "Why is my name Mael?" I asked aloud, not really aiming the question at anyone in particular.
I heard Nimue giggle softly, probably at the no doubt stupified look on my face. "Ask your mother when she wakes up. I personally loved her reasoning for that decision."
I just shook my head softly. Although, that didn't seem to be soft enough, as the very next moment I felt my mother stirring, her feathers rustling and shifting as she awakened.
It seems that I have all of the knowledge and experience of Mr. Mael, just as Lady nimue said, I paused. Huh, I guess that I am Mr. Mael now? What a strange feeling.
While I was going through my slight identity crisis, my mother fully awakened. She ached her back, stretched her neck, and let out a long, mighty yawn. I simply put a hand on her feathered chest and smiled, feeling her heartbeat through the soft layer of feathers.
This caused her to glance down at me, her beak pulling back into something like a smile, before her form shifted, and she resumed her humanoid shape. This time, however, she remembered to put her clothes on near instantly, so she didn't accidentally flash me. Not that I would have minded, she was perfect in all the right places.
I immediately froze. Why did I just think that?! I mentally shouted to myself.
I was never particularly lustfull, in fact I don't think I had ever actually had a relationship like that, ever. Am I okay? I mean, I feel fine, I've got all this energy inside of me, but I seem fine. It's no longer just sunshine any longer, I also feel my magic power, greater than anything I've ever known, dwelling within me like a vast ocean of primordial power. I feel a dark swirling void in my gut, that must be my demon powers I guess? I also feel a pure, natural energy, flowing through my veins with everything else. However I can't seem to tap into those powers. Curious…
"Calm yourself, little lion," said the voice of Nimue. "It is just a side effect. With the vast amount of power contained within you, you also have a few…flaws." She explained. "I was able to modify these flaws slightly, so that they take on a form that you would be familiar with…The Seven Deadly Sins. Think of it as a keepsake."
That made me pause, The Seven Deadly Sins? I wondered.
After taking a few moments to proccess, I smiled. I couldn't have asked for flaws more suited to me. It will be like still having my friends with me… I thought with a wistful smile.
Nimue remained silent, but it wasn't a sad silence, it was more like she was giving me a moment to remember bygone days and ancient memories.
I let out a sigh. There is nothing to be done, I thought sadly. I will remember the time I had with my friends–my family–fondly. However, a new chapter has opened for me and I will carry their sins with me, as a memento, a memory.
I turned my attention back to my mother, who was looking at me worriedly. I mean, I did space out, so that is justified. "Mother," I began, getting her attention. "I think we should talk."
[Scene Break]
{Ariana POV}
Wow…just wow.
So my baby boy is a reincarnator, but not just any kind of reincarnator, a reincarnator from another world, one blessed by the very font of creation itself.
According to what my son has said, and I don't really see any reason to not believe him, then he holds more power than probably both Great Red and the Oroboros combined. Combined. That is absolutely mind boggling. Although, apparently most of it is locked away until his body can handle it, thus why he has started training.
I turn my attention from the blue sky that I can see between the branches of our little canopy, to a large branch where little Mael, who was once a Holy Knight by the name of Escanor, was training. He was in the process of bench pressing a large boulder that he had picked up from one of the surrounding hills.
Being deep in the Highlands of Scotland in the human world, there was no shortage of large boulders. Although he has already gone through three. For that boy decided to practice his finesse with what he calls The Grace of Sunshine, the power of Archangel Mael from his world.
And boy was that a doozy. What? How could she know that she accidentally named him after one of his old friends?! I thought it was a perfect name! And it seems that my darling Mael agrees with me, he was just confused when he saw it on his status. That's a whole other can of worms. Apparently he has what is called the System, designed by the woman in his head, to help him get used to his powers.
Huh, I thought. It's kinda like those video games that humans have, right?
Ugh, enough about that. Back to the dead boulders. Well, my adorable little boy is currently working on controlling his output. Apparently, when he was a human in his last life, he needed help controlling it in the form of enchanted glasses, gifted to him by his friend, Merlin. Apparently, the grace of Sunshine was too powerful for a human body to withstand, and he ended up burning up his very lifeforce in the final battle with a god known as the Demon King.
Sigh. Well whatever, not that that matters much anymore other than the fact that my dear Mael also has that monster's power lying dormant within him as well. Well, that's future Ariana's problem.
As I'm musing to myself, I note that Mael has melted his current boulder. "Come now, Mael!" I shout, getting the boy's attention. "It is time to get lunch!"
"Okay mother!" Comes his response. He makes a grabbing motion towards the melted slag that used to be a three ton boulder. "Plasma Core." He intones. The next moment the pieces of slag coalesce before him, turning into a small orb of superheated plasma hovering over his palm before he incloses it between his small hands and squeezes.
The steam rising from his hands causes a spike of worry to shoot through me, and I open my mouth to shout, but I stop and close it a moment later as I see the focus in my son's strange, but beautiful eyes.
A few moments later the steam stops, and little Mael flaps his wings once, giving him a boost as he glides over to where I am standing in the center of our nest. Huh, I think I should probably remodel soon. I think absentmindedly.
I'm brought out of my reverie as Mael lands before me. The boy looks up at me with a happy, hopeful look in his strange, stigmata-pupiled eyes. He told me that they are a symbol of his race, The Goddess Clan, as he calls it.
Mael presents his clasped hands to me, and I instinctively hold out my own, into which he drops the once hot Plasma Core. It is now a beautiful sapphire blue color with white mist-looking patterns adorning it. It's about the size of a tennis ball, and still weighs around three tons, but is the most beautiful gem I have ever seen.
"I made it for you from the leftovers of the boulder I was using to train with, mother." Mael says softly, drawing my gaze from the beautiful gem back to him, "I thought you'd like it." He finishes, looking at me with hopeful eyes.
I smile softly, lean down and pick him up with my right arm. Say what you will about how he was an adult man until recently, but he is just so adorable right now, and I love it. It seems being a child once more, has also changed his personality quite a bit.
"I love it, my dear boy." I say softly as I nuzzle his face with my cheek, getting a soft smile from the barely one month old boy, who already looks like he is eight years old. "Anyways," I continue, getting his attention, "It's about time for lunch, so we'll be going to the nearest town. There are a couple friends that I'll be meeting up with afterwards, so you can go and train more then. It's just an old people meet-up anyway, so I'm sure you'd rather go play." That got a happy smile and nod from Mael.
"Of course mother," He states confidently. "After all, I've still got a long way to go." He finishes with a sigh.
I smile fondly, "You can't rush these things, Mael," I chide him softly. "Mastery will serve you far more than simply relying on brute force."
He nods, "Don't I know it," He grouches. "I always had to rely on my friends after the sun went down, it was embarrassing!"
I laugh. "We all need friends, dear Mael. They help temper us, and our eccentricities." I say, thinking of my own close friends. Tiamat, the lazy sorta-battle-junkie, Yasaka, the calm and collected one, and then there is Anubis, the one who always likes messing with people, but is actually surprisingly dedicated to his job. Sigh, I miss those guys.
"I'll make some new friends soon, mom," Mael says with a sad sigh and a faraway look. "I just haven't found any more yet." He finished. I winced, realizing that I brought up his friends that he still missed dearly.
"Well," I said, breaking the awkward silence that had descended upon us. "What do you say to the traditional Scottish breakfast? Meat, and lots of it!" I say excitedly.
Mael grins back. So I promptly raise the hand that holds the gift that Mael just gave me, before it disappears in a handy application of spatial magic, and then snap my now empty fingers.
We disappear in a flash of scarlet fire.
[Scene Break]
{Mael POV}
We appear in a busy street, a perception blocking barrier that mother placed keeping the common people from realizing that we just teleported. Which is a fascinating subject in and of itself. I am used to Lady Merlin's method of teleportation which was always so smooth and elegant. Not to say my mother's isn't, hers is just more forceful, I guess? Like she's exerting her will over space and telling it that that is where we are. Well, its fascinating, and I can't wait to learn it!
That is another thing I realized. My Sin of Gluttony manifested in a way that was similar to Lady Merlin's, I'm a literal glutton for knowledge. At least that is what lady Nimue–I mean Nimue, is fond of saying. However, most of the other sins haven't manifested yet. Currently it's just my age-old pride, and my newfound thirst for knowledge.
My mother carried me in her arms, ignoring the stares that my admittedly gorgeous mother was getting from passersby. Mostly men, but also a few women were staring at her with lust in their gazes.
Oh, yeah, lust is another one. My Sin of Lust awakened in my so-far most embarrassing moment in my second life, I can't believe I looked at my own mother like that. Sigh…
We stopped before a small pub/bar, the sign overhead reading, The Devouring Dragon.
Sigh. This reminds me of the Boar Hat, Captain's pub. I hope they are doing well…
I was snapped out of my reverie when I sensed the three formidable presences within, the hairs standing up on my arms. They were all on the same level of power as my mother, perhaps a bit higher for one of them, the one that felt of fire and rage, presumably a dragon. However, what put me the most on edge was the divinity I sensed within, a divinity that smelt of death.
I tilted my head up to look at Ariana, "Do I have to go in, mother? I'd rather go play." I asked, I'm not really in the mood to meet gods if I didn't have too, especially considering my most recent experience with them.
Mother smiled at me softly, "Of course not, Mael. While I'd like you to meet mommy's friends, I will not force you." She said, guessing the reason behind my question quite easily. While it is safe to say that my mother is a bit of a dunce, she can also be uncannily perceptive.
"Thank you, mother." I replied, glad that she wouldn't force the matter. I hopped out of her arms and skipped a few feet away, turning back, I spread my wings and gave her a cheery wave. "Tell them I said hi!" I then shot off into the sky, but not before I caught my mom's shout of, 'Meet me at home once the sun sets', I simply raised my arm in understanding.
"Where are we going today, little lion?" I heard Nimue ask me with a yawn.
There is somewhere I would like to go. Ever since we went to the library and I read literally everything, I decided that there was somewhere I wanted to go.
I flew north, flying over beautiful highlands, deep valleys, and snow-capped mountains until I reached the sea and began flying across. With my enhanced eyesight, I quickly spotted the shores of Norway, after all, my speed was no joke especially after I unlocked the Grace of Flash.
Not only did it increase my speed in all aspects, like movement, reaction, and perception, but it also gave me control over the volatile and wild element of Lightning, and all I had to do was nearly die in a valley full of dragons. Good times.
Seriously, those dungeons as Nimue calls them are no joke, and that was on the easier side. Granted the reason for that was only that I had to defeat the dragons instead of going on a long journey/quest, but still! I probably could have handled it if I wasn't stupid enough to not rain in my presence, which practically acted as a beacon for the over-grown lizards, causing them to all jump me at once.
Well, it turned out fine…ish.
But back to the matter at hand! I'm coming to Norway for a specific reason, and not because it's beautiful, which it very much is, but no, I am here to gain access to Yggdrasil. I read about it in a few of the books from the library, and I noticed a rather startling resemblance to the Great Fairy Tree. So I'm hoping that I can unlock that side of my powers by going and doing something there.
Sadly, Nimue won't tell me if my guess is correct. All she said was, "This is your life, little lion. I'm just the one riding shotgun." I'll be honest, I had no idea what that meant until I read about cars, but whatever.
Looking over the cliffs, I could see, just barely the trunk of a massive tree, but it was strange. As if it was simultaneously physical and meta-physical at the same time. Huh, that's fascinating.
I flew over a vast forest until I reached the base of the massive trunk. Upon placing my hand onto the trunk, I felt a strange connection, as if a lock on my soul shattered and fell away. I could now feel that pure and natural energy, flowing through my body, just waiting to be tapped into.
I pulled up my status.

Huh…that's a lot to unpack. Spirit God Spear Lothlaquiel? Life-Blood of The Eternal? I know what the first one is and I have an idea on the second, but I guess it makes sense that I don't get something like that right away. This 'Communion With Life' thing sounds interesting, I guess it means I can talk to plants and animals?
I focused back on the World Tree, "It is a pleasure to meet you, Yggdrasil. May I be granted egress into your realms?" I asked. I've heard that the saying 'politeness costs you nothing but gets you everything' is rather popular, and I can't help but agree.
Yggdrasil didn't respond with words, not really. I felt like he/she was trying to say something, but it was muffled, so instead it just relayed feelings. I felt acquiescence, curiosity, and…gratitude? Huh, I guess no one has ever asked before, at least as bluntly as I did. Interesting.
I bowed slightly in respect. After all, this isn't my home, it's his/hers. I wonder what gender Yggdrasil is…food for thought.
My attention was brought back when I heard the creak of wood, blinking as a pathway opened up into Yggdrassil's trunk, I stepped through, putting a soft, grateful touch on the wood around me, hoping that conveyed my gratitude.
A smile slowly spread across my face, my heart beating in excitement as the familiar feeling of setting off on an adventure came over me as I walked down the ancient wooden hallway.
