"Don't go, Xinxin—"
Lingxin suddenly opened his eyes, realizing he had fallen asleep, nodding off in the chair. The unexpected accident at the construction site this morning had left him physically and mentally exhausted to the extreme, so falling asleep now was understandable. However, this nap left him feeling chilled all over, waking up drenched in cold sweat just like last night.
He wiped the sweat off his face with the back of his hand, recalling the nightmare he just had. This new dream was even more intense than last night's, playing out like a drama unfolding in real-time.
His sister Xinxin was in the dream, walking towards that clown mask. The man wearing the clown mask, with fingers as sharp as knives, pinched Xinxin's slender neck and sneered at him.
No, this obviously wasn't real. Xinxin, under the protection of their parents, couldn't possibly be caught by that man so easily.
Yet, his heart felt like it was being crushed, aching and anxious.
