Mrs. Prescott said, "She said she was busy. I'll have her come back to see you in a couple of days."
"No!" Leo cried. "I want my mommy."
He was making an awful scene. Mrs. Prescott watched her grandson's tantrum, growing very worried.
"Leo!" Anne Sutton called out.
Hearing Anne Sutton's voice, Leo looked up at her.
Mrs. Prescott stared at Anne Sutton. "What are you doing here?"
"Leo's mom asked me to come and check on him," Anne Sutton said.
"My mommy?" Leo asked, his crying ceasing.
"That's right," Anne Sutton said. "Don't cry. Come on, let me take a picture of you for your mom. She said she misses you!"
Anne Sutton took a photo with her phone and sent it to Sylvia Warren.
Her hands were ice-cold as she did all this.
She remembered what Charles Prescott had said—that her child should have never existed.
'So what gives his child the right to remain in this world?'
