standing in front of the mail box rummaging through mails "Emilia this is the third time this week your digging through your mail box eagerly, you just graduated a week ago I'm pretty sure colleges are still looking through results you won't get an acceptance letter just yet" still looking through the letters, Emilia sighs "you know what they say...the third times the charm"
"no one says that in this age and time...take a break you graduated top in the whole school if no one in our school is accepted to any university I'm 100% sure you will be"
not finding the letter she was eagerly searching for, her shoulders slouched in disappointment "you don't understand julie...staying in a house with two male species, one of them who is deathly annoying and the other never home to begin with will make you eager to leave as well" Emilia said another sigh escaping her lips
"your brother can't be that annoying...."
"oh he is...he is very annoying, just yesterday he dumped all his dirty laundry in the washing machine when mine was still in it...he knew i wasn't done doing laundry" emilia complained slamming the mailbox shut "well...maybe he didn't know your laundry was still in there"
"stop making excuses for him julie...you know better" Emilia said casting a look at her, turning to go back home, exasperated julie screamed "I'm not...that could be a perfect explanation"
"yeah right whatever...if you think he's not annoying come live with him for a week, i'm sure you'd have more to complain about than i do" emilia said walking to the front door of her house, "i'm just saying you should try to enjoy the moments you have with you family while you're here, college can be alot" julie trailed, raising her voice enough for her to hear "you're talking like you know better...last i recall we're classmates. we graduated the same time" Emilia said not turning to face her "bye julie" she said walking into the house without looking back.
she didn't care how tough college could be any place was better than this hell hole of a house, dumping the mails on the dinner table, she quickly went upstairs slamming the door shut, she didn't want that little demon bumping into her. walking to her bed she let herself fall flat on it, picking up the picture laying on her bed, she looked at it. a woman who looked just like her the only difference was she had green eyes the woman's eyes were black, sitting in the picture holding her little self in her arms.
the woman was her mother, she had no memory of her all she had was this picture and every time she asked her father, he'd act like she didn't speak, ignoring her question completely. grazing her fingers through the picture "if you only you were here, maybe staying in this house won't be so unbearable" she said, staring at the picture for a few more seconds she dropped it on her bed, picking up the book laying on her bed she shifted comfortably, turning the page to where she stopped reading, dozing off after hours of reading.
the morning sun seeped into the room, shining on the girl sleeping with her glasses half on, her mouth wide open with her black hair slipping into her mouth, the clock hit 9am setting off her alarm, startling her awake. jolting up she pulled her now broken glasses from her face pushing her hair to the side she let out a loud yawn stretching her hands, rubbing her face groggily she stood up dragging her feet through the floor into the bathroom.
standing in front of her bathroom mirror, she leaned down letting the tap flow into her palms she washed her face, picking up her tooth brush, she looked at herself in the mirror...if anyone had seen her at that moment they would mistake her for a vengeful spirit out for revenge "is there a time i would ever look pretty waking up" she muttered putting the brush in her mouth, after several minutes of freshening up, she walked down the stairs to the kitchen to find something to eat.
the dinner table was directly across the kitchen with a door leading into each other, walking into the kitchen, her father sat at the table drinking a cup of coffee in a suit already prepared for work, Emilia walked past him to the fridge ignoring his presence. bringing out a box of milk "good morning Emilia" her dad's deep voice rang behind her
"good morning dad" she replied, pouring the box of milk into a bowl of cereal "you're awake early today" he said taking a sip from his cup "no you're just late for work" Emilia replied unbothered, she never woke up to see her father home, either he had left for work really early or came back really late or not come back at all. looking at his wristwatch he nodded in agreement "i am"
taking a sit Emilia quietly drank her bowl of cereal, she couldn't be bothered by him...the times she needed him to be around had gone, now she really didn't care if he never came back, dropping his cup of coffee he cleared his throat "how are you"
'how am i....classic conversation starter' emilia thought, completely ignoring his question, her attention on her cereal, seeing that she didn't respond he shifted uncomfortably on his seat "Emilia i...."
"you didn't come for my graduation, i was the only kid without a parent in school...you've never come to my school even once if i asked you, you wouldn't even know the name of the high school i graduated from or if i passed my final exams or not and yet you ask me how i am" she said, her voice void of emotions...she had done all the crying she needed to do now the last thing she wanted was any fake sympathy or care
"i didn't mean to miss your graduation...your little brother...."
"off course...bryan...what he scraped his knee while running around in school?...why couldn't his chauffer take care of that, you had to send your driver to stand in your place for once... i hoped you'd come yet i stood corrected in that hall full of people yet alone " she interrupted, dropping the spoon in her half eaten cereal, she had lost her appetite, standing up from the dining table she walked into the kitchen pouring the remaining bowl of cereal into the sink flushing it down with water.
her dad sat on the dining table unable to say a word, walking away from the dining room she paused at the entrance "i need a new pair of glasses" she said about to walk away, when bryan came running into the room with mails in his hands "i got the mails...i got the mails" he shouted across the room, rolling her eyes she was about to leave the father and son to do whatever they wanted, when she was stopped in her tracks by his next words "Emilia there's one here for you" her heart skipped a beat, turning around she hastily walked to him, taking the letter from his hand.
was she finally accepted into a college, she had given up yesterday after she didn't see any acceptance letter...looking at the envelope it read 'celestial academy' huh....she thought to herself, she didn't apply for any school with such name, tearing the envelope open she unfolded the piece of paper in it, reading through it, it said;
dear applicant of our prestigious academy, we welcome you to join us as a new student of our school as you have passed the entrance exam, we are most excited for you to join us for this coming semester and the remaining years ahead...remember you are unique and special in your own way, the semester is starting next week so pack your bag and get ready for an exciting year ahead
signed management
looking into the envelope there was one more folded paper, unfolding it she was shocked to see a map leading to the school "what the..." she muttered, what kind of school uses a map in this age of modern technology.
