"Uncle Pete!" Max squealed and leaped out of the car the moment his mother pulled over and they found Pete in front of the bake shop.
He sprinted and leaped into his arms. "Uncle Pete!"
"Hey, champ."
Max wound his arms around his neck. "I missed you, Uncle Pete."
Pete chuckled. "You did?"
"Yes, I did. But Madwyn didn't."
"For a millionth time, Max, it's not Madywn. It's MADELINE."
"Madwyn." Max repeated after her, and for the millionth time, Madeline was almost convinced, her brother's mispronunciation of her name was intentional. Either his kindergarten teachers were failing spectacularly at phonics, or Max was doing it on purpose.
With a shake of her head, she walked over and stopped in front of Pete. "Good day, Uncle Pete."
"Good day, young lady."
Looking up at him, her brows furrowed. "I'm not a lady."
"You're not?" Pete feigned surprise, and his antics didn't miss Madeline, whose brows furrowed deeper.
