Since Karis reported no changes to her flight schedule, Belle hailed a taxi and headed straight to the airport to see her friend off. She found Karis sitting alone in the departure lounge, looking remarkably serene rather than sad. She was deep in conversation over the phone, but the moment she spotted Belle approaching, she offered a warm wave, murmured a quick goodbye to the caller, and ended the call.
"I'm so glad you made it," Karis said warmly as Belle stepped up. "I spoke with Charles earlier and shared my decision with him. His hospital shift kept him from coming down to see me off."
"And you're truly fine with that?" Belle asked gently.
"Mhm. I understood the demanding nature of his medical career long before he ever pursued me. I don't hold it against him at all."
"I'm glad to hear that. Since you've both decided to give love another chance, I truly wish you both the absolute best."
