"Belle," Eli said, stepping toward her. He reached out and instinctively took her hand, completely unaware of the casual intimacy of the gesture. "Mom and Dad bought you those as a housewarming gift."
"That is not just 'something,' Eli," she retorted, freeing her hand just enough to make a sharp air-quote gesture with her fingers. "I can't possibly accept all of this. It's way too much."
"Then what do you expect me to do? I can't exactly tell them to take it all back."
Frustration bubbled up so quickly that Belle completely forgot the laptop in her hands—the entire reason she had marched downstairs in the first place. "You've already given me a mountain of things today. Why are they sending more? And how did they even get my new address?"
"About that..." Eli rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly tracking the sheer ferocity in her gaze. She looked angry enough to take his head off.
