Chapter 30 - Chapter 30

The reconstruction was faster than the destruction.

Back on the planet of the 49th race, the change was absolute. The toxic sumps were gone, replaced by sprawling gardens of bioluminescent energy. The hierarchy of the Vanguard—the elites, the Inquisitors, the endless, grinding misery—was a forgotten nightmare, a cautionary tale told to the next generation.

Corvus stood on the observation deck of the Citadel, looking out over a world that had finally stopped bleeding. The Eclipse network hummed beneath the skin of the planet, a gentle, protective pulse. The "Apex Realms" were no longer a playground for gods; they were the foundation of a new civilization.

"Status report," Same's voice drifted over the comms.

Corvus turned to see the boy walking down the hall of the command suite. Same was wearing his school uniform, his backpack slung over one shoulder, his dark eyes fixed on the window. He looked like exactly what he was—a seven-year-old student, innocent and small.

"The grid is stable, Master," Corvus reported, kneeling as he always did, though the boy had never asked for it. "The Apex energy is integrated. The 49th race is no longer a footnote. We are the authors."

Same looked at the horizon, where the stars were no longer cold, watching eyes, but beacons of a future they would reach together. He pulled a small, worn book from his backpack—a diary of his days in the Aegis Academy. He tucked it into a drawer, closing it with a soft click.

"The book of the Vanguard is finished, Corvus," Same said, his voice quiet, carrying the weight of a thousand eons. "And the book of the Eclipse is just the prologue."

He turned and walked toward the exit, his footsteps silent on the obsidian floor. He was heading back to the dormitory. He had a history exam in the morning, and the teacher didn't like it when students were late.

As he walked, the spectral starlight crown flared one last time, a gentle, shimmering halo that bathed the room in the soft light of a new dawn. The boy pushed open the heavy blast doors of the Citadel, stepping out into the calm, quiet morning of a world that was finally, truly, his own.

The Rebirth of a player had ended. The reign of the Sovereign had begun.
