"It was nice sailing with you," said Dud as he gave Gus a firm handshake.
"It was nice sailing with you too," responded Gus as he let go.
Dud gave the rest of the crew a goodbye wave and went to find a hotel; he was exhausted.
He found one of the fancier hotels and checked in for a week; he entered the room, throwing his cloak and bag on the bed, and made a beeline towards the bathroom.
"Score!" he yelled as he spotted the large bath tub. He quickly got the hot water running, and when the water filled the tub, he stripped and soaked, enjoying the way the bath relieved his muscles. He thought back to the month he spent sailing. He found it quite fun and freeing.
Learning how to operate a ship had been a blast, and Gus was a good captain and taught him the basics of navigation. He was not capable of navigating the sea by the stars, but now he could use a map at least. The last 4 islands were generic, or at least the towns were; with him traveling with someone else, he did not get the freedom to truly explore the islands as thoroughly as he wanted to.
[Allowance] did something funny when on a ship. It gave him double the average salary of the entire crew, captain included. So if he ever wanted easy money and to explore, he could just go on one of those expensive cruises and enjoy himself. Dud got a smirk on his face when he thought about that. He also wanted to see how much more money he was going to get with a town with an active port and one without one, but that could wait and wasn't really a priority.
He finished his soak after half an hour, got dressed in his new pajamas, and crashed on his bed. He closed his eyes intending to sleep but was disturbed by a light that did not exist and sighed. The gacha did not interfere with him, especially if he did not have privacy, but once he had even a semblance of privacy and was relaxed, it got his attention absolutely. He could ignore it but then he had a nasty feeling it would get annoying and ruin anything he was currently enjoying.
He willed the notifications to the forefront of his mind.
{Achievement: New Blue Island.
1X Bronze ticket} X5
{Achievement: Visit a named location.
1 X Silver ticket}
"Named in what?" Dud asked himself and then shrugged, deeming it unimportant. So he had 7 bronze tickets and 2 silver; he cashed in the bronze tickets and got:
[Iron Mind]
Rare Trait
Your mind is made of iron, and your body will obey. Even if you are exhausted and starving, the effect it has on your performance is minimal. Regardless of your suffering, your performance will be optimal. Does not extend to physical limitations or wounds. Also increases resistance against all negative mental ailments.
"That is quite good, but I am not sure how I feel about something changing how I work so easily," muttered Dud with slight unease.
[Golden Goose]
Common Familiar
Yes, it really did lay some golden eggs. This otherwise regular-looking goose lays a golden egg every 24 hours; the egg is solid gold unless the goose is fertilized.
"Well, there goes my money problem," Dud said to himself with a wry smile. He did not summon it, as he had no way to take care of a bird and did not want to deal with the hassle of dealing with a territorial and loud bird like a goose.
[Flexible]
Common Trait
You are inordinately flexible, even more so than an expert contortionist.
Dud felt his joints change; he had no idea of how else to describe it.
[Orochi]
Uncommon Familiar
{Jujutsu Kaisen}—A giant snake shikigami that can quickly attack and ensnare its master's targets. It can burrow into and travel through shadows, allowing it to engage in surprise attacks to ensnare or bite targets. The power of shikigami scales with your own energy levels.
Again, Dud did not summon it; he had a rough estimate of its size, and he did not want to risk it.
[Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch]
Common Item
{Monty Python} - The Holy Hand Grenade is a powerful grenade personally blessed by a saint. The grenade contains 1 kiloton of power and deals extra damage against unholy enemies. Restock Timer: 24 hours.
He caught the hand grenade as it materialized in front of him. Sitting up, he carefully placed it on the pillow and carefully took the pillow and grenade and placed it as far away from himself as possible before returning to his bed. Wiping away the cold sweat on his face with the back of his hand.
"Crisis postponed," he said to himself after he colapsed on the bed.
[Sprout]
Common Ability
You are able to communicate with and control plants in your range to a minor degree. You can order plants to start growing faster and imbue them with your energy to make them grow even faster. You can also change their general shape slightly.
"Nice," he said to himself; talking with plants, no matter how limited, would come in handy.
[One Day Blinding Stew]
Trash Item
A good and reasonable punishment for those who misbehave. This is an unusually hot and spicy but still nutritious stew that renders whoever drinks it blind for 24 hours. Restock Timer: 12 Hours.
A small thermos materialized in front of him, which he caught. He opened to a pungent smell of spice that left him gagging and his eyes watering. He quickly closed it and placed it on his bedside table.
"Here is hoping I get something to manage the items I get from the gacha." Dud prayed before tearing the silver tickets.
[Esper]
Elite Trait
You are a naturally born Esper; abilities are second nature to you. You understand, develop, and master abilities far faster, and you possess a unique intuition when it comes to your abilities. Ability cooldowns are halved.
Dud startled as his connection with the [Wheel of Mahoraga]changed; he could now manually activate it while doing things to 'adapt' to it. It probably wouldn't work with things like cooking and woodworking, but fighting, tracking, and all sorts of other things would become a lot easier.
[Inventory DLC]
Rare Trait
You get your very own inventory page added to your system! The inventory add-on allows you to store objects inside the system as long as their weight does not exceed what you can carry under optimal conditions. Items originating from the gacha are exempt from this and can be stored without problem.
A screen appeared in front of him (which was nothing more than a mental projection, and he knows it), showing him a space where he can store things; he also noticed it had already stolen his money, the hand grenade, the horrible stew, the buttplug, and the ring, making him frown. He put his hand in and retrieved the money and was easily able to retrieve it. He ended up testing cough-playing-cough with the money feature of his inventory and learned that he could take out the exact amount of money he needed as long as he had stored the correct denominations, like he can't put in a 100-berry note and draw out 10-berry notes. It was not a magical currency exchanger. Why am I going on a rant about this?
The screen also had a tab that showed a list of his familiars and their status. Herbie's read asleep, SC's read active, Orochi's read inactive, and the Goose was unavailable, which made sense considering he hadn't summoned it yet.
Dud closed his new interface and slept; he was truly exhausted.
