Chapter 58 - Chapter 58; We missed you

Myra entered the building and immediately attracted the attention of everyone in the open office.

Katrina, Ria, Tina, and Brian were seated at their desks working when they saw her walking in.

Tina was the first to react. She quickly got up from her seat and hurried toward her.

"Ms. Myra!"

She threw her arms around Myra in a warm hug before pulling back to look at her.

"Oh my God, we didn't know we would see you again. You're still alive and healthy."

The others quickly joined them and greeted her warmly.

"We are so happy to have you back," Katrina said.

Brian nodded in agreement.

Myra smiled at their enthusiasm and shook her head slightly.

"I thought you guys were having more fun without me here."

"Even though you became strict with us, we missed you and we were worried about you," Tina replied.

Myra laughed softly. The genuine concern in their voices touched her more than she expected.

At that moment, Barbara emerged from Myra's office. She had been organizing some documents and was just stepping out when she noticed the small gathering around Myra.

She paused briefly and nodded. They had already met earlier, but seeing Myra surrounded by her colleagues made her realize just how much the woman had been missed.

"Good morning," Myra said.

"Good morning. We are glad to have you back," Barbara replied.

Myra nodded before making her way into her office. Barbara followed behind her, carrying a few files.

Once inside, she closed the door and began updating Myra on everything that had happened during her absence.

She carefully explained the projects that had been completed, the pending work, the meetings she had attended on Myra's behalf, and the decisions that had been made.

Myra listened attentively, occasionally asking questions or making notes. She was impressed by how smoothly everything had been managed.

Outside, Brian, Tina, Katrina, and Ria returned to their desks and resumed their work.

The office gradually settled back into its usual rhythm. A few minutes later, the main door opened again, causing several heads to turn. Mark walked inside carrying a small bag.

Tina's eyes widened immediately.

"Oh, Mark is back."

The others looked up and saw him too. Mark greeted them politely before taking his seat and logging into his computer.

Tina leaned back in her chair thoughtfully.

"Oh, does this mean that we shall not have Leo here again?"

"I think so," Brian answered.

"By the way, I heard it on a phone call that Leo is a police officer and he had only been given the task, an undercover mission to get and catch those people who were under kidnapping murder from the beginning. And his mission was so successful," Katrina said.

"Oh, that's so sweet. I knew something was wrong about his coldness and no-nonsense attitude," Ria replied.

"So he's a real officer?" Brian asked.

"Yes. Oh, we are going to miss him from here," Tina said.

She then smirked mischievously.

"Hmm, I think Barbara is going to miss him more than us."

Brian immediately groaned.

"You're starting again."

"What? Don't tell me you didn't notice. We all knew that those people were dating. Didn't you see the way they used to look at each other and talk?"

Katrina shook her head.

"How sure are you that they were dating? Maybe they just have feelings for each other but were not dating."

Tina folded her arms confidently.

"Me, I knew. I knew they were dating, and you will see it very soon."

The others simply laughed and returned to their work.

Meanwhile, inside the office, Barbara had finished giving her report. She closed the last file and placed it neatly on Myra's desk.

The room fell quiet for a moment as Myra reviewed some of the documents. Satisfied with everything she had heard, Barbara prepared to leave.

"I guess that's all. I'll be going back to my seat."

Before she could turn away, Myra stood up from her chair and gently held her hand. Barbara looked surprised.

"Barbara, thank you so much for taking care of everything in my absence. I don't know what I'll ever do to appreciate you enough."

Barbara smiled warmly.

"Myra, you're my best friend. I will always do everything for you."

The sincerity in her voice made Myra smile.

"Okay. You can go ahead."

Barbara nodded and left the office. Once she was alone, Myra sat back in her chair and turned her attention to her computer.

Soon the clicking of keys filled the room as she immersed herself in her work.

Across the city, Leo had returned to his apartment. The place had remained untouched during his absence, and he spent some time arranging a few things and trying to settle back into normal life.

However, no matter what he did, his mind refused to cooperate. Memories kept finding their way back.

He remembered the days he just spend with Myra at the island .

He remembered their arguments, how she took care of him , nursed him, smiled

Their conversations.

The way she always challenged him.

The way she looked at him whenever she thought he wasn't paying attention.

And then…that night that he spent with her.

The memories came one after another, making it impossible to focus. Leo frowned at himself.

He could not understand why those thoughts were bothering him so much now when he had managed to ignore them before.

His thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of his phone. He glanced at the screen and immediately saw that it was the commissioner calling.

Leo answered at once and listened carefully. The moment the call ended, his expression became serious.

Without wasting any time, he changed his clothes, grabbed his car keys, and left the apartment.

Less than an hour later, he arrived at police headquarters. Officers moved in and out of the building carrying files and reports while others discussed ongoing cases.

Leo walked through the corridors with his usual calm confidence, earning respectful greetings from the officers who recognized him.

He acknowledged them with brief nods before making his way toward the commissioner's office, ready to hear what new mission awaited him.
