_____________

Reclining in the sand and watching the sun lazily rise up over the horizon of the ocean, I rolled the gleaming black luxury ball containing my newest…most absurd capture back and forth in my palm as I awaited Lance.

I was honestly, still a little…shocked, I suppose? I don't rightly know that shocked was the right word to describe what I'm feeling, befuddled, full of disbelief?

Discombobulated?

I still didn't feel like it was quite real. That, I just randomly bumped into some kid who dropped an ancient pokeball containing a shiny Rayquaza.

"Rotom, run its data by me again." I ordered absently.

"…This will be the third time Jord," Rotom pointed out, sounding awfully dry for having a mechanical voice, "Rayquaza. Gender: None. Ability: Air Lock. Height: 23'01. Weight: 458 pounds. Attacks Known: Dragon Pulse, Draco Meteor, Air Slash, Twister, Extreme Speed, Dragons Ascent, Ancient Power, Crunch, Flamethrower. All data indicates this pokemon is a juvenile of its species when comparing to sightings of Rayquaza in the ozone layer, and prefers to bombard opponents from afar with long range attacks, a long range combatant."

I pursed my lips, stopping in my rolling of the luxury ball, 'The height and weight line up with the games.' I thought idly. But, compared to the Rayquaza seen in the movies and anime worlds…it was like a third of the size.

Even the other shiny Rayquaza I remember from the Hoopa movie was well over fifty feet long, and that was before mega evolving.

I shook my head…shit.

I've got a shiny Rayquaza. That…just does not compute. That made zero sense. I still find it unbelievable.

I actually don't know what's more unbelievable. That I actually have a shiny Rayquaza in my possession.

Or that it's so weak compared to any other depiction of Rayquaza I'd seen. It got taken out with one shot by Regice.

A half hearted shot at that, Regice usually fired Ice Beam with both arms, but this Rayquaza was downed by just firing from one arm, in one hit.

I laughed, shaking my head, "Shit…" was all I could say, it was just…just absurd!

I leaned back and looked up at the sky, an idle thought coming to mind, "I wonder where I could get my hands on a meteor?" I mused.

Rayquaza and its ability to mega evolve, was different from normal pokemon. Rayquaza had a specific organ, called the Mikado Organ, and it basically functioned as a mega stone.

But, to power it, a Rayquaza had to devour a meteor. How that worked, I have no idea, I just know it does.

So as long as I get my hands on a meteor and feed it to Rayquaza, I'll be able to mega evolve it into Mega Rayquaza.

…Though that will have to wait. Rayquaza didn't need mega evolution to be frank, what it needed more than anything else, was going through a course of Jord's School of Hard Knocks.

Usually I wouldn't deride any pokemon for being weak. I trained a freaking Ratata, Pidgey and even Spearow into monsters.

But it was a freaking Rayquaza. Whoever caught it in that ancient pokeball, must have either ganked it when it was fresh out of the nest and locked it up without ever letting it out.

Or was a massive incompetent as a pokemon trainer. Like so incompetent, he'd make the main timeline anime Ash…from Unova, look like a paragon of genius and unstoppability.

A true juggernaut none could ever hope to match.

Unova Ash!

That was how incompetently bad this things old trainer must have been, if he hadn't keep poor Rayquaza locked up all the time prior to whatever led to things now.

"If I remember, right, doesn't Mikado mean emperor?" I mused, and snorted. What an arrogant name for a freaking organ, giving the ability to mega evolve or not.

I'd say this much. There was nothing emperor like about my Rayquaza. Nor kingly. He was like, a freshly anointed Baron at most!

"Baroooo!" a loud cheerful cry split the air above me, and I looked up just in time to see a massive Dragonite that had to easily be twenty feet tall, spee down from the clouds, a familiar red haired caped figured on its back.

"Store this guy for now." I said to Rotom, holding the luxury ball in my palm, and a moment later, it was sucked inside the red gauntlet and disappeared out of sight.

Just in time as Lance's massive dragonite landed in the sand before me, yet despite the speed it came down at, and its massive height and bulk, it didn't kick up any sand at all.

My eyebrows raised, a little impressed, 'That's some control.' I resisted the urge to whistle. I looked up at the massive beast, that beamed down at me. It was over twice the size of my Dragonite, and its whole vibe was entirely different.

Much more warm and friendly looking.

And vastly more powerful.

This big guy, this was Lance's ace huh? Not the Dragonite me and my time faced before, but his true strongest Dragonite.

"Jord, good morning!" Lance grinned at me from the orange scaled dragons back and slid off, landing behind it and walking around to stand in front of me, beaming as widely as his Dragonite.

The excitement was wafting off of him. Well, I suppose, he did tell me he'd dreamed of raising his own Aerodactyl since before he was a teenager, and he was finally getting one today.

"You're in a chipper mood." I noted aloud.

"Of course I am," Lance laughed, and lifted up his arm to show me, that it was actually trembling slightly, "I'm eager to see it, I've awaited this day a long time Jord."

Well, that was something.

I debated for a moment if I should hold him in suspense and draw it out, but no, that would be a major dick move for something that had him so hyped and happy.
