The next day, I call Klaus, Lívia's husband, and tell him what happened.
"The Lord is showing me there's a portal in your wardrobe! There's an item in there that was claimed, and they've been coming through it. The Lord said to throw it away," he says firmly.
I remembered that I had stored the nightgown Zarú had asked for in one of the wardrobe drawers. He had loved it. Without mentioning the nightgown, I reply:
"I'll look for it. I can't keep fighting for my own body anymore. I can't take these nightmares."
"The Lord is telling you to make a spiritual commitment with your family in your home."
"All right. I'll commit to three Saturdays."
"Three Saturdays is good! In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit!"
"We'll start this Saturday. Thank you, brother. Peace of the Lord."
"Peace."
I walk over to the wardrobe, open the drawer, take out the nightgown, and bring it to my face. A flood of emotions comes rushing back. Tears slip down my cheeks. I had truly loved him, and this was the only thing I had left of Zarú. He was the one who had awakened something in me...
Gathering my strength, I place the nightgown and everything else from the drawer into a garbage bag and tie it shut with a firm knot. Then I leave it in the laundry room to throw away later. It is already night, and I am exhausted.
In the middle of the night, I wake up with my hands twisted painfully. The specter is screaming like a wild beast—full of hatred, full of rage. The sound is coming from the wardrobe.
I cannot move my mouth. Silently, in my mind, I pray the Lord's Prayer and ask God for help.
The specter leaves.
"Where are my angels when they come? I belong to You, God, so why does this keep happening? I don't understand!" I ask.
No answer comes.
The next morning, I call Klaus and tell him the specter returned.
"Did you throw the item away?" he asks suspiciously.
"Yes. I left the bag with the nightgowns in the laundry room."
"You were supposed to throw it out! You disturbed their nest, and when you left those things in the laundry room, they started wandering through the house!"
"One of the nightgowns had been chosen by another entity in the past," I confess.
"God showed me a piece of lingerie, but I was too embarrassed to mention it to you, sister. There's more contamination. Lívia is coming over tomorrow, and the two of you can search together. Just remember to pray first!"
The next day, Lívia and her daughter, Bela, arrive early.
We have breakfast on the balcony while we chat. When we finish, I take the dishes to the sink. As I return from the kitchen, I look at Lívia, and a spirit says to me:
"She has cancer."
Oh, now what?
Who said that to me?
A good spirit or an evil one?
I'm confused.
There's a demon in my bedroom!
Who would ever believe any of this is real?
And if I tell Lívia, she'll worry. She'll cry.
What if this is the specter speaking?
Then the spirit continues:
"Tell her to get tested."
Maybe it's an angel. I decide to advise her.
"Lívia, have you been taking care of your health? Have you had all your checkups this year?"
"No. Why?"
"What are you waiting for? Go see a doctor and schedule every test you need. Please, take care of yourself, my sister!"
"All right. I'll go."
"And soon," I say sternly.
"Wow. Why?"
"Because I said so. I've already had all mine done this year—you need to do yours. It's time!"
"Okay... you don't have to scold me!"
We go into my bedroom, join hands, recite the Lord's Prayer, and begin clearing out the wardrobe.
Our hands tingle whenever we touch something contaminated by the specter. We throw away perfumes, makeup, clothes...
Whenever nausea rises in our throats, we recite Psalm 91.
Meanwhile, Luigi and Bela are playing in the living room.
Suddenly, Luigi runs to the bathroom and vomits.
Strange. He had been perfectly fine a moment ago.
I take him to the pediatrician, but her diagnosis is uncertain. It might be a viral infection. She gives him medication to stop the vomiting and recommends a light diet.
On the way home, we have afternoon coffee, pray for everyone, and then Lívia and Bela return home.
Luigi recovers quickly. He was probably the victim of a spiritual attack.
My worries only grow with this new revelation...
