Accursed Awakening

Rododo
In the year 2005 on a randomly regular weekday, the normalcy of the world took a suicidal nosedive and died. Without any warning, any foreshadowing or even a slight hint of the consequences to come, every one in the world awakened. Some were blessed with the power of flames, wantonly setting buildings and people alight to satisfy their desires. Others were blessed with sound, deafening the surroundings with loud sounds or lack thereof. That day, 12 different kinds of abilities manifested themselves in every living human being without regard for their age, gender or even societal status, and as expected, chaos became the new order. Human beings fought among themselves, seeing each other as enemies due to the absence of a common one. Eventually the heavens answered their silent plea. ****** In a dark alley of a major city, a woman with a weak plant affinity was being chased by two men with wide grins on their faces, their eyes betraying the fate that awaited her. She had long given up on hope, aware of the current situation of the world she knew that she could only depend on herself to remain safe. Willing the energy in her body to respond, she called upon the hidden weeds and tough patches of grass that refused to die no matter how much civilisation and modernisation progressed. With slight awe, she watched as the grew bigger, dividing the alley into two and blocking her pursuers' vision of her. Or at least that was the plan until one of them, a fire user burned the weeds to ashes in under 10 seconds by the touch of his palm. The other guy, noticeably bigger opened his trench coat where different items, all metallic in nature, flew out of and plastered the woman on one of the moss covered walls, not that hygiene was anyone's primary concern at the moment. Seeing the lecherous look on their faces, the woman was filled with even more despair and resentment than before, to the point that her negative emotions were given form unbeknownst to any of them. All the three saw was a swirl of dark purple energy beside them as a figure stepped out of it a moment later. A creature capable of being termed as nightmare fuel, with it's woodpecker beak, leopard body and four housefly wings on it's back. Without giving anyone the chance to admire it any longer, it lunged at one of them, it's weight and claws rendering the man as easy prey. The other man, the fire user let loose a stream of flame in hopes of killing it, only to find it diving towards him from the air. In the end it was left with the beast and the woman, but after a brief acknowledgement from its 6 purple eyes it flew off, leaving the woman stuck on the wall to question her luck and her life. That day humanity realised through the sacrifice of two men that there was another world out there filled with powerful creatures capable of ending humanity as a whole. As for those capable of opening a connection to such a world? They received the brunt of humanity's attention in the form of persecution.

The Reborn Sovereign of Ruin, Bound by His Star

Revenge is, by all means, one of the most guaranteed things to happen when a warlord with dragon blood in his veins and ether at his side is betrayed, poisoned, and reduced not to death but to decades of obliterating pain as his ether channels burn from his very soul. Only one remained. One channel, thin and fragile around his heart, survived long enough for him to endure, to wait, to plan, to manipulate, and, eventually, to return to the world with one clear purpose: to burn down the nation of the traitor who thought he had erased him for good. But then came a fortune teller at a street stall. And with the fortune teller came a dare Arik accepted for fun, a spread of cards drawn with no real expectation beyond momentary amusement. Instead, he found something far more dangerous than revenge waiting for him. His mate. A story of rebirth, revenge, enemies-to-allies-to-lovers, political ruin, ether, and the deeply unfortunate reality that the one person tied to Arik’s fate may be the very last person he should ever want. — Warnings, disclaimers, cries for help… call them whatever you want. This is the third book set in the same universe, but it can be read on its own. The world will be fully presented, so nobody needs to do homework before stepping into the chaos. For anyone curious, the first two books are: Bound by the Mark of Lies Shadow Unit Scandal: The Commander’s Omega This universe is ABO dragged directly into etherpunk, political fantasy, violence, bad coping mechanisms, and my ongoing inability to let powerful people make emotionally healthy decisions. There will be violence. There will be gore. There will be smut. There will also be vengeance, terrible restraint, worse impulses, emotional damage, and at least one man reacting to fate like it personally insulted his bloodline. Good luck.
